Amen! Christ did not die for us to "lower the bar". He died for us because we were under penalty of death and needed saving. He didn't come for moral support, to give a helping hand or a leg up. He came to pay the debt in full because we have nothing to offer on our own behalf. He is a mountain of gold, and we don't even have pennies to offer. Lord Jesus, thank you for the free gift of my salvation. I accept your free gift, and I will not dishonor you by trying to pay for it.

35:00 MacArthur says “a faith that is void of submission is merely intellectual faith and sometimes appropriately called Easy-Believism. Easy believism is the view that saving faith is a solely human act. Those who adopt such a view must then scale back the definition of faith so that believing is something even depraved sinners are capable of”. Romans 5:8 - “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 KJV “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 KJV There doesn’t seem to be anything in the Bible about Jesus dying for the non-depraved, or the non-sinners. And it doesn’t say anything about faith or believing only being available to those who aren’t depraved. Bible seems to teach that all our depraved, Jesus died for all, and faith in Christ is enough for all of us. MacArthur teaches contrary to the Bible. Excellent work, great sermon!

I just listened to this today. Something I have heard to often in the past and today Pastor; you said something countering that. You said that Jesus Christ could not sin. Because he is God and God does not sin, does not lie. Many of the false teachers claim Jesus could have sinned and they even claim Jesus did not have the Holy Spirit until he was baptized by John.
@amazinggrace45073 жыл бұрын
Jesus did not get baptized to receive the Holy Spirit! Jesus Christ is eternally the second personage of the Trinity. The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are equally divine, co-eternal and co-existent, and distinct. God is one God revealed in the three personages of the Godhead. There are plenty of passages in the Bible making Christ's eternality, divinity, and sinlessness clear. He could not pay for our sins if Jesus was not all of those. I would suggest you watch this: Why Was Jesus Baptized? | Dr. Ralph Yankee Arnold | BBN: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKeYoYiKf7OZfZY
@ashflint232 жыл бұрын
There is also a passage that may answer your question about Jesus' baptism, Matthew 3:15. Jesus wanted to get baptized by John because He needed to *fulfill all righteousness*. So this also proves that water baptism is a work of righteousness, so its a really great verse against cults that teach baptism for salvation. Plus, titus 3:5 with matt 3:15 showing it is a work of righteousness, and works of righteousness do not save; 1 corinthians 1:17-18 Paul said he came not to baptize but to preach the gospel, and even said that he is thankful he didn't baptize?! But wait, I though acts 2:38 is the gospel, I'll let you figure this out; And 1 peter 3:21 is funny cuz its their proof text that says baptism "saves you", but not in a way they think cuz it just said in the parenthesis (which they deliberately ignore) "NOT putting off the filth of the flesh", meaning it doesn't wash away your sins no matter how many times they bring up acts 2:38 (its to Jews, look at every other passage how Gentiles got saved. The book of acts is a transitional book called the "ACTS OF THE APOSTLES"), if they don't agree with you that filth means sin, show them 2 cor 7:1. I hope this is a blessing. God bless you!

Justification is immediate upon belief in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for our eternal salvation. Only Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh and worthy of making the death payment as the world's sinless substitute. We are sealed with the free gift Holy Spirit until the day of redemption. Only Christ's imputed righteousness makes us perfect in the eyes of God. Final justification is a big fat lie of the devil!
@Myjesus-1 Жыл бұрын
James taught that works are required for Salvation. Jesus also taught - No Works - No Salvation. “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’ “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’ “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’ “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.” The Book Of Matthew Also, the man who was given a talent and buried it was rejected by God because he didn't do any works. The Book Of James 2:20-25 "Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, 'Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.'And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?" The false church denies these important teachings, even contradicting Jesus our Lord. 2 Peter 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them-bringing swift destruction on themselves.

Romans 3: 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
@Myjesus-1 Жыл бұрын
@@jjsmoley why do you think Jesus said if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out because it is better to lose your eye than end up in hell for sinning?
@jjsmoley Жыл бұрын
@@Myjesus-1 If you read that passage that you reference in Matthew 5 you will see that Jesus is trying to get people to understand that sin is not about outward actions, it's about inward thoughts / the heart. The passage is illustrating that even the thought of evil deeds is sin, being angry, lusting after another woman that's not your wife, etc are just as sinful as the actual acts of killing and fornication. If we took that passage literally then we all should have gouged out both eyes and lobbed off both hands because there's not a one of us that hasn't sinned. So this passage is not talking about how you make it to heaven or hell. Rather getting people to understand how sinful they really are so that they will trust in Christ as their savior instead of trying to do it on their own. Besides, you can still sin without your body parts.

3/4 of the Bible was written to Jews, pre and post tribulation Jews. Not to the Gentiles. We have the church age of grace. They can have grace if they switch teams and follow the true Messiah, Jesus Christ. Amen! This is why it's soooo important to rightly divide the word. Most items below are activities that are an ongoing process and NOT a one time event which salvation is. This is why you can not use any item below for being a work of God alone for salvation. • Making Jesus lord and savior. • Surrendering ones life. • Committing ones life. • Commit to follow Jesus. • Reformation of ones lifestyle. • Repenting of ones sins. (phrase not found in the bible KJV etc.) • Asking Jesus into ones heart. (phrase not found in the bible) • Saying I am sorry • Confessing ones sins. • Some kind of penance. • Turning from sin or sins. • Saying some type of prayer. • Amending ones ways. • Count the cost. • Submit to Christs lordship. • Picking up ones cross. • Forsaking the world. • Forsaking sinful behavior. • Dedicating your life to Christ. • Willing to change. • Have to serve jesus. • Confess your sins to a priest. • Be water baptized. • Walking an isle • Joining a church or denomination • Being baptized in water • Speaking in tongues • Turning over a new leaf on life • Getting rid of bad habits or vices • Asking for forgiveness of sins • Observing the Torah • Fasting • Having visions and angelic visitations • Hearing Gods voice audibly • Having mystical experiences • Memorizing scriptures • Helping the poor or giving to charities • Paying tithes and offerings • Going into pilgrimages • Shaking to pastors / priests / rabbis hand • Loving and forgiving friends and enemies • Getting healed and delivered The Bible does not place any stipulations, obligations, requirements or warnings to be saved, it simply saves WHOSOEVER WILL.
