I like the formula especially. One Location One Object One Character One Concept / Conflict Very simple, yet well structured.

I feel like this is actually a good example of not relaying too hard on "shot-length rule", since I felt like most of the most shots here needed to breathe more. Interesting ideas all around though.

Thanks, I’m doing another cut that’s a bit more suspenseful and has more breathing room. (Stay tuned).

Man i have alot i want to work on just nothing i have had time to work on. Unfortunately, working fulltime and doing this on the side has hurt my videography just a bit. Graduating from full sail and then learning to market was a struggle. I hope to get back to work after the holidays on something. I appreciate your videos man.

It’s important to note that most of these decisions are made during the scriptwriting process. It’s possible to make changes like this during editing but it’s rarely necessary because they’ve usually worked out all the kinks before it gets there. At least in great movies.

Love your videos... as I explore short films I see your channel as what is possible with more application. More importantly: taking inspiration from movies to test the boundaries of what we can do, with the tools we have.

@ I think it is easy to get stuck in the “action, reaction, reveal” mode of filmmaking so this concept was very eye opening! What a great way to be able to slow the pace but maintain interest. Once you see things this way everything makes sense. Thanks again for putting this together. Love it!

I didn’t know you edit with Filmora. I thought you were using premiere pro. I stop using Filmora due to the software had issues dealing with Sony’s slog 3, almost all of my footage’s either had noise in it or some weird color artifact, even when I did the ol ETTR thing. I ended up switching to Davinci and haven’t looked back since.

Dude, you generalising big time when you are talking about shot duration. Actually I would say you're misleading people by boxing yourself into a specific style. There are truly great filmmakers where shots go on for minutes, sometimes for tens of minutes or hours. Tsai Ming Liang, Hou Hsiao Hsien, Lav Diaz, Bela Tarr, Andrei Tarkovski, J. L. Godard, Kenji Mizoguchi, Orson Welles, Aleksander Sokurov, Michelangelo Antonioni,... Actually I would say your claim is more wrong than right. That being said I don't know anything about you and this channel. I can just judge this video. Making content about filmmaking is a good thing. The problem is when people are paying for a course and...
