It's probably because of the age difference and Taeil took care of Haechan in his early years (although all have). Haechan did mention Taeil is his favorite older brother and that Taeil gave him confidence in the glamour friendship test video. Taeil's personality is probably the only one patient enough to handle a whole Haechan plus they adore each other so much, you can see it in their eyes. It's so darn cute; thank God for these interactions.

Liz G It’s not because of the age difference, Haechan jokes around with members such as Taeyong who’s only a year younger. Taeil is quite known for not giving a care about the age gap with his members and letting them feel comfortable around him. It seems that the reason to why he doesn’t joke around with Taeil like he does with others is because Taeil simply doesn’t care and will handle him (like you mentioned later) unlike others. At the end of the day we’re only fans so we don’t exactly know how they are as people lol. But their friendship is truly something that is unique, because of you compare it with other groups then you’ll usually feel like there is some kind of a barrier between the youngest and the oldest while in 127 it flows naturally.

I am sad that we won’t ever get to know them deeply and there is probably so much more to them that we see. Acting can only do so much to conceal one’s nature tho so I have faith that their relationship is genuine, and NCT as a whole and when they react is so precious; I agree with you on that. I am glad Taeil is so chill with his team and as people mention usually the eldest Hyung play a key role in the group’s relationship with one another. It can be out of respect, love, admiration, care, etc. that Haechan doesn’t joke around with Taeil but we’ll never know lol and that’s okay too. And on the age difference thing, Haechan did come to SM very young so I wouldn’t be surprised if he got attached to Taeil because he took care of him when he was younger. The age gap between me and my sis is 5 years apart and we are super close and I dote on her a lot. This is all speculation tho.
