This is the million-dollar question: Why has the dominant reboot Teen Titans Go, have to be so bitter about everything? Through their latest crossover with new-at-the-time reboot, Thundercats Roar, they take a lot of shots at critics/haters/disgruntled fans, and it really shows the type of mindset they have, going on their 8th year.

@@ElectroBlastLuigi I'm sorry but Teen Titan Go (parody) aspect missed so much. Comedy needed to have some beat, well-executed, and fit with the character. Heck, why parody anime like Gintama, Konosuba and Isekai Quartet worked so well? Because the comedy has chemistry and the characters are very diverse in term of personality. A parody should make you love all of the casts, not make you despite them. Heck, even the Teen Titan chibi short did a better job because they are still in characters. Teen Titan Go main cast are all basically the same. They are all clowns with the same personality. It may works once but you are making the same joke for over 4 years? The season that got canceled was going to tie up a lot of loose ends and plot holes, while diving more into the other TT group, along with the tease of Slade still being around, the whole thing with Terra ((Which kind of got some sort of closure?? with the OG Teen Titans Go comics )) and a lot more, even some relationships were going to get planned out since the older peeps in the group are adults at that point. I've had a couple of friends who were able to meet the OG TT creators/writers in the past who were told this to there face, and the creators also spoke about it a few times on the internet ages ago on some Teen Titans forum that is no longer around or archived. The same with the real reason why it was canceled, which no surprisingly back than it was canceled because the toys weren't selling enough ((Though as a kid back then, I don't know what toys they were trying to sell, there was nothing at any store )) and that the person who was running CN back in the day was upset that the majority who watched Teen Titans were girls. For awhile aftetwards, I hated how this show kept going and that it even got TWO movies. Nowadays, I still ignore the show, but it's not worth the energy getting worked up about it anymore. As someone who grew up with Avatar: The Last Air bender, One thing I know for certain is that all "It's for kids" excuses to defend and make a kids show are bullshit. Avatar: The Last Air bender holds up as an adult because it had effort put into it and it didn't crutch itself with the bullshit "It's for kids" excuses. A show aimed at kids is not automatically a bad thing, it only becomes a bad thing when it's creators uses bullshit "It's for kids" excuses like Teen Titans Go. The Netflix show Hilda is a kids show, but since the creators of Hilda put effort into the show and didn't use bullshit "It's for kids" excuses, I'm certain the kids that grew up on it will still say it's good when there adults. And I'm defiantly certain that most kids that grew up on Teen Titans go will not look back on it fondly.

I'm gonna go ahead and make the counterargument that stupid shows have as much right to exist as intelligent ones. Some kids like smart shows and some like stupid shows, there should be something for everyone. The only thing I have against TTG is that it takes up too many timeslots which disrupts the balance of stupidity and intelligence. And I know the reason CN does it is because of money. I wonder if the creators of TTG are in some way feeling guilty about this, and that's why they are so bitter and defensive. TTG is basically just a cash cow and they know it. I think that their current audience likely going going to realize this when they grow up and thats where the jealousy is coming from. Because the original Teen Titans was beloved by kids and respected by those kids as adults, while TTG will age like milk. Pop culture references are its bread and butter now, but will invoke cringe as it ages and the animation will become more outdated. While shows like Avatar and the original Teen Titans are mostly timeless.

Something i need to talk about with the Teens Titans Go and Thundercats crossover that just makes that whole episode a whole lot worse. at the end of that episode they have that whole "Thundercats Roar is a worthy successor thing" and then shortly after we see Snarf from OG thundercats and Liono from the 2011 series. and in the corner you see THE ROTTING CORPSE OF PANTHRO FROM THE OG SHOW! "But why?" you may ask, it's most likely because his voice actor died in 2017. this "Joke" if you even want to call it that comes off as just disrespectful to the actor who died and makes this episode WORSE. And i cannot in ANY way see that being a "Tribute" either, and if that WAS a tribute, then that is a fucking horrible tribute.

Roar adding in Panthro's corpse is, in my opinion, a sign that the show creators were actively malicious. It would be one thing if it was a different character who's VA was still alive, but they actively chose a character who's actor had died, somewhat recently, especially depending on when the crossover was being produced. It really feels like Roar wasn't made by people who wanted to make a good or fun show. It feels like it was made by people who wanted to hurt fans of the original for not transplanting Roar as "Better than the original" immediately. "What's that, you aren't going to adore our show the moment it's announced? We'll make you pay!" I don't say it often, but thank god it got cancelled after one season.

Tbh when this show started out it was pretty okay. I hadn’t watched the OG TT, so I derived some enjoyment from this show. But the bitter and overall just negative energy of the show slowly made me die inside as it went on throughout the years. The Titans and the humour have become so spiteful and sour that the show is just so... soulless? Like it’s more worried about spiting the criticism it receives and mocking its audience rather than delivering entertaining and fun content for its viewers. Also they used a kid who just wanted to be on his favourite show as part of his wish from MAW as criticism fodder and didn’t even give him his wish of being a VA. That just made me lose all respect for the TTG team. Not Tara and the other VAs tho. They didn’t decide to do that.

For me whether a reboot is good comes down mostly to the portrayal of the characters. In my opinion, when someone makes a character, they make, y'know, a character. Something with distinct personality traits, and if it's a good character, their own logic, morals, experiences, and all that. What that original creator made, that's the character. To me, when these shows take existing characters, but completely change their personalities, that's insulting to the original creator. They take something that someone spent years developing, that millions of people loved, and then they toss out everything but the name and general design, to the point where it's essentially a different character but with a name you know to make you watch. To me, it's no better than outright plagiarism. And then Teen Titans Go not only does all that but also makes fun of people who think that's not cool? Fuck those guys.

That episode actually could have been kinda funny. I would have had the episode start with the Titans being excited about the reboot but they quickly get worried that it will suck. So they immediately go into the show to help and the episode shows the reboot start out dark and cool but the Titans somehow slowly infect the show and make it the reboot you see in reality. Then the Titans hideaway because an angry mob wants to kill them for it.

The ironic thing about TTG and TCR, is even though their artstyle and designs are pretty unappealing(to me at least), I've watched shows like Adventure Time and T.K.O. and enjoyed every bit of them. So, it really just comes down the the writing, characters, and juvenile humor they have in those shows. Like, TTG have some funny/good episodes, I can't deny that, but I still hate it overall; and TCR just hurts my eyes to watch. I really hate whenever CN does reboots of established good shows they end up ruining them for the sake of making them "for kids". Original Ben 10 was for kids, same for PPG, Teen Titans, and even Thunder Cats; I hate hate HATE that excuse why these shows are the way they are is because "it's for kids". Please, I was a kid and I enjoyed every bit of shows like Kids Next Door, Samurai Jack, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed, Edd n Eddy, etc etc. These shows were written fantastically, and each episode told their own fun, engaging story, and never felt like they were insulting the intelligence of their core audience: Children. If this is the crap kids like to watch nowadays, I'm glad I was born in the Golden Age of CN, because they're missing out. Of course, they do have gems like TKO, Amazing World of Gumball, Craig of the Creek, but I don't think we'll ever get great shows like we had back in the Golden Age of CN.

Thing is about the shows we see that become timeless and age well, those don't lean heavily on what's "hip" on mainstream media. They're not doing their best to cram popular culture into their shows, they're making something that's completely different and a culture in it's own right. TTG relies so much on today's culture that the only reason why it's still running to this day is because they constantly have to change a narrative to fit the culture today's kids portray.

Here's the dumbest part about these kinds of episodes. They know the people they are making fun of hate the show, they know that they don't watch the show. As the shows has made it abundantly clear multiple times, the it is made for kids. So who are these kinds of shows for? Kids who likely don't even get who don't even get who is being mocked? At best you could say these episodes exist for the purpose of being shared online so that the "haters" can see them. At worst it's a frankly childish venting to people who don't even know what they are venting about. I also love how Raven makes the "kids are smarter than you think" argument as if that is somehow wrong. Like are the writers actively saying that the kids who they make the show for are dumb and will watch just about anything? Because that's basically what it sounds like.

As somebody as young as me, AKA, a child, I just don’t like the show. I never watched a single minute of the original series, but I can tell that it was obviously better than right now. I can’t tell if it’s because of the overused fart jokes, or the fact that every single character is so- annoying. I can never find myself liking any of the characters. Perhaps if it had the original art style, I could like it a bit; a shred bit, the size of a grain of sand. The only episodes I could find myself liking are the season one episodes. Perhaps some of the season two episodes, but that’s really just all.

The problem you’re having is a mixture of all the things you noted as well as a few other things. I grew up with the original series and loved it a lot, and to see it rebooted as a complete mockery of the original was bad. Not only was it a mockery, but it was a mockery that rubbed salt in the wound it created out of deriding the original. The humour can only be described as ADHD (I say this as someone who likely has this undiagnosed, but is on the autism spectrum nonetheless. Common comorbidity.), characters are always silly, all over the place, gross, and are making meta humour. It lacks so much in its own substance that it rides off of other topics to hear itself talk. Despite the fact that it’s marketed to kids around ages 4-12, its humour is extremely juvenile beyond any learning value. Potty and burping humour is for people no older than 3, I’d say. Another big problem is how much the show pigeonholes itself by capitalizing on what’s urgently hip; the Powerpuff Girls reboot had the same issue, it capitalized the shit out of memes from the 2010s such as twerking and social media culture. As a result, both of these shows become dated by their own content. The reason why you don’t like any of the characters is because they are not characters, they’re self-insert caricatures. Cartoons are supposed to be an escape from reality and so your imagination can run wild with the narrative. Elements of reality can be incorporated into cartoons, but when they exist to solely be commentary or parody of real life, it can get dull. It’s one thing having your favourite comic book hero make a comment that they struggle to pay their bills because hero work doesn’t pay, but if it happened every issue, you’d think that being a starving hero was their only character trait. That is my spiel.

TTG when it first started out, probably was meant to be just a mindless kitty cartoon where they make fart jokes and other toilet humor type comedy. Granted, the show already does that, but I doubt it would have ever "evolved" into a parody of the superhero genre. In fact, the backlash of existing fans, might have actually saved the show and gave it an actual theme instead of being just pure random garbage. I admit there were a decent number of episodes in the series that I thought were rather decent, and some of the episodes that made fun of the genre, and and in some cases, the fans, was okay. However, the show is beating a dead horse with it's humor, and it hasn't really changed much in terms of that. It's mediocre to decent at best, as some episodes seem to have some thought put into them. But the vast majority of the episodes are just bad to mediocre.

ttg has a really weird, gross recurring idea that male sexual harassment is a good joking topic. so without the "complain that people complain" episodes we would probably have "complain people don't like it when robin is held at literal gun point and forced to twerk" episodes. jokes about butts or nudity are common in kids media, but i just feel the fact that robin often nonconsensually has his butt squeezed, slapped, or jiggled stops being a joke and starts being an actively bad message for kids about boundaries. in spite of the fact that even children seem to dislike the show (in my experience) cartoon network still has yet to stop pushing it non-stop, so i can only assume that you are right, and it is the potential for hate and controversy that keeps the show going.

@@Namingway248 Yeah the suggestive nature of the show is incredibly creepy, and rather just contradictory to the "this show is meant for children" theme. For example, one of the talent episodes had beastboy transform into a cow and "milk" all the judges, especially wonder woman, the only woman among the judges. In face value, it might not seem that bad. However, putting in the least bit of thought will showcase that this scene is pushing it suggestively, with Beast boy outright giving wonder woman a pearl necklace.

The original teen titans was for kids too. Whether we were physically kids or kids at heart. It was serious and light hearted. Humorous and deep. They balanced so much and talked about relevant topics in the world. They were really touching and portrayed deep messages. And the story telling… just wow. What I enjoyed most from it was the messages it conveyed to its viewers. Controlling anger, living with disabilities, fighting for loved ones, racism etc. they were ALL covered while also entertaining the viewers and making us laugh. I can show my little cousins that show and know that they are both entertained and being educated. I cant say that about TTG. Its crude humor.. and well thats it. Crude humor might have its place in shows but thats the center of this show. Its a slap to the face of their original fanbase. The best way I can put it is the original TT was a satisfying meal and TTG is high fructose con syrup. Shame on cartoon network. I hate to sound cliche but what are you teaching children?

Out of all shows to reboot into a mostly comedy, why in the world did they choose Thundercats? They constantly say "This show isn't for you" to the old fans who didn't like the direction, but if you aren't looking to cash in on a pre-existing fanbase, why reboot that property? Although my favorite part of the backlash of Roar's initial announcement was all the internet artists playing damage control and even trashing the 2011 reboot, all the while admitting their friends were working on the show. And then the people lowkey threatening to blackball aspiring animators and artists for criticizing the show. Fun times. Also, why is it shows with at least divisive, if not poor to bad quality, have so much venom to any and all critique or dislike? If you aren't going to listen, at least don't go out of your way to address the supposed "haters", and just make a good show in the eyes of your fans. Your haters don't watch your show nearly as much as your fans, unless your show is garbage.

So essentially the tl;dr is: "The co-creators of TTGo hate old cartoons, hate people that like said old cartoons, and want to actively ruin said old cartoons for said people." Also, instead of addressing criticism of what they made, they instead go straight for ad hominem insulting and belittling critics instead. Much the same as the BBC, Chibnall, and Whittaker have done with Doctor Who. Also, no, pointing out your own flaws or making fun of critics do _NOT_ make said flaws okay. It just shows you are childish and can't handle criticism and just flat out hate the abovementioned groups of people for no good reason.

Basically to sum this episode up: Teen Titans Go is still salty after years of being in denial that they're a bad reboot, so they made an entire episode dedicated to strawmen arguments to justify their own show, while simultaniously comparing themselves to another show that in their eyes has also succumbed to the big bad "Reboot mob mentality." As if the backlash TCR had for their PROMO (not the entire show at that point, the promo), is in any way on the same level as TTG's backlash.

As someone who is the fan of 2011 reboot and who Actually likes Thundercats Roar *"I will not defend"* Michael Jelenic antagonizing their audience/critics in Teen Titans Roar, because that episode *"basically did dug the grave for Thundercats Roar."* Heck, Michael Jelenic, who wrote Teen Titans Roar, was the producer of Thundercats Roar series and is the same guy who was developer, writer and producer of Thundercats 2011 series. You should except someone with years of experience in animation he should be more professional when handling criticism. Antagonizing the critics does make doesn't make it justifiable you just giving them a reason not to like roar even more, you gave oxygen to the fire of the Mental Mob. I agreed with alpha jay Michael Jelenic should just think of audience first, not yourself or criticism. I've watch Thundercats Roar the show doesn't go out and break the 4th wall and antagonizing people who actually watch their show, they have fun for entertainment, they didn't care about what critics thinks about them they know what they want to be. Heck, my favorite of episode from Thundercats roar is "Study Time" is lesson people are different and a teacher can give them a unique method of teaching to fits the person they are teaching it is a good message in fun entertaining way. You know after watching Roar and Looking back that Announcement video with Victor Courtright, the other producer of Roar. He talks about him grew up watching Thundercats, and his brothers was into it. He said he thinks the world they built lends itself into comedy, and he definitely said *it wouldn't be Thundercats if it didn't have super cool action elements, because he that what people came back to we're not walking/Taking Away from the action in any bit every strip* *Victor Courtright thinks about the audience first, not himself nor the criticism and He kept his word of what he wants Roar the be* (unlike the other sloppy reboot who is famous a lot of Self Insertions, fails with it's the message that they claimed to give and lying about having permission of the creator of the original cartoon) Victor Courtright handle it more maturely than Micheal Jelenic. Courtright didn't go tell his staff hey antagonizing our audience because they're immune, NO, he thought about having action, comedy and having fun. And in my opinion Roar's action is better than TTG. He did bring characters from the original cartoon, for example I found out who Mongor did originally appeared in original cartoon how he power by people's fear, but in Roar he small and not scary but he *"Use His Own Fear"* to give him power and grows big that is Funny and cleverly idea. I glad he made the decision of music give the show energy because the music slaps.
