I always have a home in SL. (Your home is gorgeous btw) I have used a sandbox a few times when I first started SL 13ys ago, after about a month I got my first sky box apartment @75L' s a week, I was so proud of that lil ugly apartment, it was some place to call home. Now I have a big gorgeous well decorated/landscaped home, even tho I take breaks from the grid, I keep up with my rental. I know of ppl who date just to have some place to stay...then say they would not be caught spending money to rent in a virtual world, like what!?!?!

OMG this is pretty! And I love how you put down your thought by comparing RL and SL. This is brilliant!

Just like I hate living with anyone and having my own buble place alone is vital in real life, it's only natural that in Second Life too 😂 When social quota is reached I need my to remain alone in my home without any social interaction total bliss 😍

We have a Main Home which is kind of on rocks at the beach (so lovely and perfect), and also, on another land, a cute little fishing cottage for the winter, with a few extra prims for me to build/create/decorate as I like. Sometimes for special occasions we'll rent a parcel somewhere (such as we went to Jamaica for New Years, a lil tent in Cretaceous Park for his bday, Aussie Shores for our anniversary ^_^), or I'll rent an additional land to make something special for him (such as the giant snowglobe I designed for him for Christmas, or the way-too-massive 4-level 2049 cyberpunk cave system with bumper boats and a 1940s gas station for his bday, or the cute lil Marrakesh place with lil green aliens and their fave food, alien cereal). I come from a 2+ decades long Sims addiction lol, so as far as homes, lands, decor, etc., Second Life is really a playground for me/us :)

We have a campsite and for privacy a skybox above, protected by a security orb. Nice video, keep going ❤

Perhaps this should be retitled: "Why own or rent a parcel/sim in Secondlife." A "home" implies a very specific use for a parcel/sim, which you already mention in the video its just a means to have a place to rezz whatever each individual wants somewhere to call their own in secondlife

Home in S.L,Sure if your Rich.I have had 10k Prims before and it realy does not take long to use them up.Add to that the Lag at ground level,that takes away the joy,realy dont need it.The best home I have had was a Platform high in the sky,I used to get no lag at all but even in the sky your have many neighbours,some will be annoying Clubs.
@meeksluvКүн бұрын
Im not rich I fill my lindens once a month, to me its like any other hobby or entertainment that we spend money on in rl. 10k is hardly enough prims if you wanna decorate, but you can get an inexpensive fully decorated skybox home and just use the prims for other things. I live in sky with a ground level property below. I am NEVER bothered by anyone. Clubs are commercial properties most renters wont allow you to put one near residential.

I just back to SL after long break , trying to find a 1024 parcel to buy , but after checking countless spots , I am so disappointed , people building some huge, ugly monstrosities on their lands, that even spots with waterfront , that suppose to be pretty , looks really bad. Neighbours can just ruin really nice places

Get a place with out neighbors...just have to pay a lil more if you want total privacy.

I'm going to play devil's advocate and say that the common (mistaken) perception that you need to have a house in SL is a barrier to entry for new residents. If you want to change clothes, there are plenty of places you do so with privacy; the Welcome Hub has changing rooms that are never full, and 90% of the grid is just empty space these days it seems - I drove/boated from my Linden Home office (that I use for research interviews, primarily) for three hours through residential sims and I probably bumped into three people. Privacy is kind of all over the place... Compared to other microtransactions in SL and to games and online content subscriptions the price is almost always steep; I know several people who really should be spending money on RL food wasting hundreds of dollars a year on SL rent. But again, I'm not a nester/decorator by nature, so I do tend to get grumpy on this subject.

In Second Life, it’s indeed easy to form judgments or draw conclusions about situations we may not fully understand. The platform’s nature, with its mix of anonymity and diverse lifestyles, sometimes allows us to voice opinions without accountability. That said, I completely agree with the importance of being mindful when it comes to personal budgeting in Second Life-especially for those who may not have a stable income in real life. However, it’s also worth acknowledging that everyone’s circumstances are different. For all we know, some individuals might have the means, such as a trust fund or other financial security, that allows them to indulge in their Second Life experiences without undue concern. In the end, who are we to judge? The beauty of this virtual world is that it accommodates so many unique paths and perspectives.

Well just like every other thing in life people pay for what they enjoy, entertainment, hobbies etc... so if SL is a source of entertainment to some, then who is to say they cant use their money on it and live the way they want virtually?

@@pearlastorwinchester Just like RL...there are the haves and have nots. Some ppl can afford to live lavishly on the grid I say if you can get the best experience out of it do it!
