Agreed. Also, I LOVED Growing Together but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel like a Game pack rather than Expansion. That year (and this) they really did pop out Game packs disguised as Expansions. The only one I think that did feel an expansion is Life & Death!

I agree with all the comments saying we need another game pack. Game packs usually give us such a solid build mode and some fun new gameplay. It always feels like an affordable middle road pack because sometimes stuff packs can feel like only a little, with the limited gameplay and Expansion packs are so expensive at a whopping 40 dollars!

I mean, Kayla doesn't really play The Sims the way her viewers do. What I mean is she spends so much time playing Sims for content online already, so she's not really going to be spending her spare time playing it as well. It's her job now. I'm not saying she doesn't love it, we all know how much she cares about this game, but I think obsessing over specific packs the way you're talking about kind of requires playing this game in your own spare time, not streaming or recording or thinking about content. I'm sure there are packs that are her favourites, but she likely doesn't spend hours off-camera enjoying every tiny aspect of her favourite packs to give you a list like that.

I bought the party essentials kit for one reason and one reason only, the fog machine. I am huge into Halloween and thought it would really add to my decor. I forget to use it often...lol However, watching this video, I realized how many things I use ALL the time from this kit! I love that bar, that record player, that speaker. I use them in almost every build! So, I think this kit is actually really good.

I use that wall speaker everywhere, for no good reason other than I REALLY like how it looks compared to other wall speakers, and I always give my Sims music to keep their fun up no matter what they are doing. I also use that fancy TV often because I think it looks cool. I don't use much else in the kit, but really don't regret buying it.

Life & Death is the only expansion that I've paid full price for (really wanted that family portrait) & I don't regret it. I am kind of disappointed with the build buy stuff as I'm having a hard time using it in more every day builds. I absolutely love the CAS though and I'm not a CAS person. I also love the Cozy Kitsch kit. I didn't think I would based on how people were describing it. I'm not into mid-century modern or 60's/70's decor, but I've been using it in just about every build that I've done since getting it - especially the couch set

@@lieselotteksr It was an early purchase bonus but I’m not sure if you’ll still be able to get the bonus if you buy the pack now since the pack came out in October and the early purchase bonuses usually only last a couple of months. But if you are able to get mods and cc installed, there is a version that’s free somewhere but I don’t know from which creator. Hope I could help you tho!

Yeah, I think the deadline to get it was mid December. I don't like it as much as I thought I would. The frames are pretty ornate to fit the style of the pack so I'm not using it that much. Like it doesn't look great in a starter home. Maybe they'll do another one in a login event type thing so everyone could get one & have a more simple frame

My fave part of life and death surprisingly is the soul’s journey, being able to pass down traits, my sims having unique interests and goals which cause me to use parts of the game I don’t use often, the gameplay perks are great too

As someone who quite often rushes to buy packs (for example, after 2 weeks of the sims I spent 70 pounds on 2 expansions), this is really helpful in deciding which packs are actually worth it. The thing about the party essentials kit that I think should bump it up a level is the dance floor, which is currently paywalled at a minimum of $20. So if you can’t afford one of the expansion packs that have one and don’t want the bugs that come with My Wedding Stories I think it’s a great option. There are a few other cool things from that kit which Kayak talked about but I think that’s the biggest selling point of that kit

I finally picked up the Storybook Nursery kit bc I started taking care of my Goth family’s infants. I couldn’t use as much of it as I wanted bc the gallery home I’m using doesn’t have that much space (also, babies by the kitchen are easier), but I LOVE the ceiling light. I was looking for one for my main sim’s bedroom that’s good for medium walls and a bit big and it’s perfect! I was so surprised how well it worked. The baby portrait is also very cute, I love that one too.

I think one thing that kind of goes unnoticed is how all the packs have such great cross-over with other, already existing packs. I can easily use Cottage Living, Horse Ranch and Life & Death together along with splashes of the kits.

I was personally so sad when love struck came out and heard that it made having relationships 10x more tedious. I don’t mind doing all the fun stuff of the pack, like the new dates and the romance skill. But I was bummed when I heard that their relationship deteriorates so quickly if you don’t pay enough attention. That’s the single thing that has held me back from buying love struck, because I LOVE everything else about it… I wish they could go in and tweak it a little bit to make it not so dire to relationships.

Don't hold back if this is your only worry. I am a romance player - like, I love playing romances and give the Sims families -, and I don't find it tedious to keep their relationship up. You just do what you normally do. Let them kiss a bit, flirt a bit, woohoo now and then ... it really is not that hard. I looooooove this pack.

I was writing a comment about how it’s not that bad but then realised it’s pretty bad 😂 and I love lovestruck, it made me play the game for the last few months but in my last household for example I was focusing on my heir teen and his parents relationship was suffering 🤦🏻‍♂️ I even made a club for just the two of them to interact romantically but I moved away before I could see if it was working lol otherwise it would’ve just taken like 4,5 romantic interactions every two or three days to get their romantic satisfaction to max so they don’t complain for a few days 😅 it hasn’t been an issue for me so far, about 4 generations playing with lovestruck! I hear that if you play rotational it’s bad because the relationship degrades which is stupid if true, I don’t play that way. Hopefully they change that because it makes no sense If you think lovestruck will make you happy and you play with relationships then honestly I recommend it, see for yourself how you cope with romantic relationships and if it’s overwhelming I hope you’re on pc and can use mccc mod

I definitely want school sims with longer vacations. It's kind of annoying playing with teens and having to send them off all day, only to have them do homework for the remaining hours of the day. Not to mention the exams AND prom every week.

As long as you have Seasons you can do this already (although if you don't there's no Summer to speak of anyway). Hop onto the Calendar, and just create custom holidays named "Summer Break" where Sims have the day off from School/Work. You don't need to add any traditions to the 'holidays' so you won't have any tasks or post-holiday moodlets to worry about if you don't want them, and you can tell adults to go into work anyway through the cellphone if you want to for storytelling purposes (they'll get holiday pay if you want to keep them home).

I tend to play Sims in spurts then don’t play for months. So there are always new packs to buy. I’m an adult with plenty of disposable income so cost isn’t my main concern. My concern is whether a pack will “mess up” the way I like to play the game. For example, the community vote thing annoys the hell out of me particularly when I discovered that the community voted to turn off power one day and stuff like that. Fortunately, we are able to turn that off in a sense (Not letting the non-playing household vote I think. Did it a while ago.) Same with pollution. I also don’t see having to vacuum dust all the time as a good thing not having to do laundry: so no to those! I never got the Vampire one because I heard the vampire keeps coming to your house and that sounds annoying. BUT I do like to download lots from the gallery so I want to not be limited by packs I don’t own. I guess what I want to know most about new packs is how much it changes your game play AND if you can ignore or somehow turn off stuff that you end up finding annoying. Of the new packs, I’m most concerned about Lovestruck because I do get single Sims together; but then once their romantic relationship is stable, I tend to want to focus more on the kids or family and I don’t want to have to spend a lot of time maintaining the romantic relationship. Also, the whole detailed turn ons/turn offs/boundaries thing seems too complicated/time consuming to play with EVERY Sim though it may be interesting to try with a few. I do kinda like the idea of the dating app though and might want to try it; but still … not if it’s going to “mess up” the whole game. So I’ve been watching some videos to see how game play is affected; but what I’m not hearing is to what extent, if any, can new game play be turned off or ignored … and whether you can turn off/ignore new game play with some households and not others etc.

The turn-on/turn-offs do self populate during gameplay, much like the likes and dislikes. Easiest way I’ve found to stabilise a relationship so I don’t have to think about it, is to give them a couple of like, dislikes, and turn-ons in common, make sure they each like at least one trait the other has; and then just leave them to it. Unless you actively set out to sabotage the relationship, they should be fine without input for a good while.

for vampires, vlad ONLY comes to your house if you just started a NEW SAVE, otherwise he doesnt bother you-and all vampire related stuff can be enabled/disabled through lot traits! i loooove vampires so much and havent found a problem with it

Lovestruck has destroyed gameplay for me. The romance bar dropping instantly to nothing in a mere day or two means I do nothing but try and get sims back together. They won't even try for baby even if married because they suddenly hate each other. I feel this may be some kind of overpowered glitch though that they need to fix.

Okay I've really rolled my eyes at the life and death EP just thinking it was going to be kind of corny, seen the new skills open up through some research and debate stuff with my sims and thinking "yeah whatever" - but the legacy gameplay element you were talking about really has my mind changed. I'll definitely need to look into it. Also gone and bought one or two kits (i never buy kits) purely from this video. Thanks for putting all the effort in, I always default to your creator code on all purchases unless there's a good reason to use someone elses (like they're a co creator) - and you're a gem for point out who those co creators are.

the one thing I hate about crystal creations, you can’t use any of the jewelry in cas, even once you’ve made it and put it on your sim- it just disappears in cas and you don’t get to use it on that sim or others. I bought the pack fully believing that I would be able to add everything I created to my wardrobe like you can in nifty knitting- but you can’t.

I never had any packs ( only blossom kit cuz it was free ) I bought tiny living, crystal creations and cottage living last year in december, I've been watching all of your videos and felt really inspired to play different, also with gamepass I got Get to work, I'm having so much fun playing as a doctor, befriend a rabbit with a 32 tile house, thanks and happy new year

I wouldn't say I am the biggest builder but I enjoy items from kits like the Riviera Retreat kit that provide new gameplay features like the drinks tray and the fire pit. I speak as someone who doesn't own all the packs, so having mini kits like this that provide gameplay features like this are much needed. I think people might often get blinded by the very stylized nature of the kit but it is nice to have for all architecture styles really. And if you wanted to create a fancy pool lot with the items, you absolutely have enough stuff from the base game and this pack to do so.

The artist studio kit is one of my absolute favourite things that's been added to the game. As an artist I loooove making all my sims artists 😂 so I use it all the time

It's interesting to see others' opinions on releases and hear how they got on with them compared to my own experience. I thought I wanted the Artist Studio Kit desperately until I ended up building a city street build for the Arts District in San Myshuno, and I really didn't feel like I was lacking for stuff or ideas in that build; made me realise I didn't need it! Conversely, I feel like I'm using the Bistro Kit all over the place, particularly between the wall lamps and the vintage-style posters.

All of this really is down to personal preference. Like, for me, Jungle Adventure is essential. I have always loved anything relating to jungles/tropical rain forests, Mesoamerica, and step pyramids. Any time I see the word Aztec, or something, I get really really overjoyed. For most people, they don't care about jungles, and that pack would not be their thing. These type of videos are great because then people can really see what is in a pack and see if it is useful for what they love to do in the game. I never play in live mode, but I love to build and make sims. I tend to love anything tropical and jungle, and anything alternative. Most of the homes I build end up using a bunch of jungle adventure and have a teen bedroom that is some sort of alternative subculture like goth, . Then the families I make to live in those homes include the alt teen, some sort of stereotypical archaeologist, then the rest of the family.

I've been really enjoying lovestruck, I always found relationships a bit of a drag previously. You had to initiate the romance mostly making it feel rather one sided and once they were together it went a bit flat. I am currently playing the soulmate aspiration for the first time and it feels like an ongoing goal, my two sims are very much in love and as long as they make time for one another the relationship is staying in the high zone. Though my female sim does have random sims come up and flirt with her which makes it a lot more chaotic. It is also nice to see my extended family having romances, playing in legacy with large family modes means poor old auntie June never really had time to have her own story line, she lived and died alone. Now she gets to have her own family with the alien next door whilst having a wild affair with a master vampire.

I have mixed feelings on lovestruck- the world is fun, the items it brings is fun, and the idea is fun; but the romantic satisfaction gets really annoying and in one of my saves it completely destroyed a relationship two of my sims had due to a bug :C I had to tell origin to run the game without my $40 expansion pack to fix it. I wish I could disable some parts of the pack gameplay wise but keep the world and items (said bug was caused by my teen sim dating another teen, but the other teen auto aged up- I changed my sim's partner to be a teen again and found out that they couldn't do any romantic interactions anymore. even when I aged them up, broke them up and made them get back together, they were still unable to do a large majority of romantic interactions. the only fix was deciding not to use lovestruck at all! huge bummer!)

It would be nice if they listened to player feedback on the romantic satisfaction. Otherwise i really love the pack for it's overall vibe and tone.

goth galore, castle estate, storybook nursery and life & death look like theyre all tied together and as a goth sims 4 player, i really enjoy these packs ! and although they didnt come out in 2024, vampires and werewolves are also pretty good for goth builds and cas

I use the windows from the castle kit a lot in houses honestly. Diffently LOVE the Urban homage kit, SO good. I feel like the party essentials is a little flop like the luxury party pack, tho it at least have the tv and bar that's simple, I feel like they just cant make party kits that are good, for some reason. Love the riviera retreat kit too, really good. Also love the slumber party kit, the storybook kit, cozy kitsch and cozy bistro kit and both lovestruck and life and death! Great packs

It would be so fun to see u rank all the skills in sims 4 based on usefulness and gameplay like some of them are obviously required like cooking but other than that i think itd be fun go see how dance compares to zen compares to skiing etc

I think it makes more sense to group like packs together. Like make almost a ven diagram of packs and say that these packs compliment each other with gameplay, style, world, etc. There are some that are great stand alones, but sometimes you start with one or two packs and then wonder what to get next.

I'm on console and we can't use creator codes. Which sucks because there's CC kits are ideal for console players who have no other way to access CC 😢

Kayla, you know how in your nightmare legacy challenge how you age up with cakes (or Stanley does a sale table) and the sims randomly take a piece. The cake plate would really help you having to repeat making a cake when the little buggers take a piece😂😂😂😂

we have multiple packs made for toddlers/infants and only THREE highchairs. I would love a highchair kit lol
