Hickory, NC: The Best Family Location You’ve Never Heard Of

Culturally Hickory has more going on than some much bigger places. It is a regional medical center for the northwest corner of North Carolina. Restaurants and shopping were abundant when I lived there. Charlotte is not that far away, and you can get there by freeways. The mountains are handy, especially the ski areas. Asheville is not a bad drive on I-40.
