Welcome to Pursuit Perfect System
#hifireview #homecinemareview #headphonesreview
This video is my first Mini HiFi Movie I shot with a friend of mine and his amazing HiFi system. I wanted to try and look at the question - why HiFi? Why does a person decide to spend the time, money and attention it requires building a HiFi system. What does it mean to them and what do they get back from it?
This has been shot and produced in a semi corporate / semi movie style all by myself. I did all the camera work, sound, lighting, editing and everything else. Huge thanks to my friend Tim for coming on camera and being my main actor and for allowing me to show his amazing HiFi system in this video. I hope you enjoy it.
His system consists of

@@4879daniel I agree, but we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that this hobby is about the equipment even more than the music. Music is the currency, barometer, or measuring stick. No matter what you call it, How many of us listen to the same music over and over to see how good our system sounds after we make a change.

@@Atlantaallen That is absolutely senseless... spending thousands upon tens of thousands of precious resources to buy equipment because this is apparently a hobby where people use music to listen to hardware... you are meant to buy the equipment to shape the sound of your music, that's all there is to the hardware. The hardware is there to serve the music, not the other way around.

This sounds crazy until you listen to a HIFI system even a fraction of the cost of this one. And you realize the whole "its an experience" "bringing a tear to my eye" is completely true. It just brings movies and music to a completely different level.

Thank you, Terry for the excellent recording and editing and Tim Alanthwaite for what you had to say.

Understand the sentiments completely. The first decent sound I heard was as a child at my grandfathers house in Kent. He had a single corner horn with a valve amp... that sound stuck in my head for years and led to a career in electronics and audio retailing. When my system gets the hairs on the back of my head to raise up, and goosebumps appear on my arms, I am transported to my happy place. Music really does it for me too.

There are multiple definitions of an audiophile. The one most appropriate to myself is ‘someone who listens attentively to music and cares about the way it is reproduced’. The key here is music. It is a universal and international language with out barriers or boundaries. It can effortlessly touch your deepest inner emotions. To me it is escapism. Some men will spend hours a week sat on the riverbank, fishing. Others on the golf course. Others touring on beautiful and powerful motorbikes. Others watching spectator sports or working out at their local gym or taking long walks in the country. I appreciate the virtues of a couple of these myself. Sitting down in my favourite armchair in the optimal listening position with my music of choice cranked up to a room filling 80db-ish, transports me to another realm. A place where my head is emptied of any thoughts, is filled with music and nothing else, a trance-like state.

It’s only when I looked at youtube I found the term audiophile . Got a great system I built up , know a lot of about a lot of the gear around. I get a little angry at the reverse snobbery on KZbin where people ridicule others that spend money on audio gear. My first question to them would be,Do they wear the cheapest watch or drive the base model motor cars. My speakers electrostatics took 15 years of listening to buy & I love them. The system gives me hours of sheer pleasure.

Wonderful that you truly love music. I've enjoyed live music from Classical to Jazz in Omaha, NE (Manhattan consider it their little sister) as the Theatres are, according Mel Torre to Leonard Bernstein have told us that there are few left that have the Theatres that come close to those that used to be. The arts from the Bach and Bagels in the Museum every Sunday was a great gathering of those that love music like you do.

45M. For me it was being a kid in the 80s and hearing CDs through a big, clear stereo at my friend's place. I then grew up without a money focus, but always wanting more hifi lol. Car stereo became the best outlet because driving with clean, clear music is so good. But now hifi is like chocolate - I can have as much as I want, yet I don't go crazy with either. I currently run some 25 year old, rather large B&W bookshelves on stands in my 4 x 6m lounge and I appreciate them and the music so much! I will get crisper and faster speakers but I've come back to appreciating what I've got instead of that yearning for always more.

This parallels my experience pretty closely. Except it wasn't movies that set me on my path, it was music. I really don't care at all about home theater. It's 100% about audio for me. The way I look at high performance audio, is not that the goal is to reproduce live events, but like a 'window' on the original live event. The better the audio gets, the bigger, cleaner, less distorted, the 'window' becomes.
