When i googled the location it wanted me to go the wrong way. If you look up "The Channels Trail Trailhead" it shows the parking lot where you guys were.

Go to Beartown, West Virginia. Slot caves there as well. Trail to the canyons is very short. Walkways built through them

Sorry not sure. It's been awhile. Also don't think we went straight up and back. we stopped to film, take pictures and explore other things. It's about 6.5 miles so best guess is 4 hours depending on your pace

Do you knowing if the old trail head to get to the channels is overgrown? It’s like 10-11 miles total and I like long hikes. I’m looking forward to go to this soon.

we were here in the fall so I can't say for sure, but I doubt it. There's always a lot of foot traffic going through both trails and they're marked off
