My vote is Yes on learning electric repair. I think you'd be great at it and it'll definitely be needed. I'd watch your electric repair and tips. Also, I've seen it recommended that you get very good bike locks for electric bikes, even when storing at home. Electric bikes are a very high steal item right now. Have fun out there!

Hey Steve… great video, thanks! Might not be a bad idea to start getting into servicing and repairing this type of equipment. There are so many electric mowers and trimmers on the market now I can see this becoming more than a niche section of the equipment market. Also I didn’t hear you mention anything about the hearing on the bikes… that would be good to add I think.

You're a go-to source for small gas engine repairs, and you've helped this non-handyman out of a few jams. I bought my first electric push mower last year and have not had any problems with it at all, but if I do it would be great to see you talking about a fix! Enjoy your new bikes!

I’ve had an echo electric chainsaw for about a year. For a number of reasons it’s the go to machine for my usual brushing, and yard clearing, and firewood needs. Electric. It just works. No smoke. No startup pulling, instant on. No idling. No noise. No on/off switch. The e-bikes have a similar attraction, for those who are no longer really peddlers. Some exercise, as much as you want. Fresh air. Long distance sightseeing. Pick up the mail, or go for groceries. Explore neighbourhoods you haven’t driven.

Hey Steve, I did the same thing. I bought two bikes, but it’s an Aventon Adventure 2 . Looks almost identical to your bikes. Probably made in the same factory in China. I didn’t get a hat though. I love it. Put 900 miles on it since June. I uploaded my speed from 20mph to 28. Had it up to 29.2, plenty fast.

I think expanding into rechargeable electric repair is a great idea. While the gas engine gear market will live on as long as Steve wants to fix 'em, the electric gear market is growing rapidly and will start replacing gas gear. I have an eGo string trimmer and an eGo hedge trimmer, and they've been terrific, but I've held off on switching over to an eGo lawnmower because there's nobody around where I live who knows how to service them, and owners say they are not completely reliable, and they're too expensive to just throw away/replace.

Steve, Be very careful of 3 things. The most important being the battery. Most bike shops will not work on an electric bike purchased online. It’s because the shop’s insurance will not cover them as these online bikes usually come with cheap batteries that are prone to catch fire. Next, you cannot put these bikes on a standard bike rack! People think if they have a bike rack that holds 2 standard bikes it should certainly hold one E-bike. Wrong. Bike racks calculate the weight of a bike per each slot, not the total weight. Many people have lost their bikes on the highway. E-bikes take a special beefier rack. Lastly, most e-bikes weigh between 75 and 90 pounds whereas regular bikes, weigh around 30 pounds. Huge difference. Many older people have found out the hard way that they’re not easy to stop or lean to one side or the other without falling over. Also, if the battery runs out, they are very difficult to pedal or even to just get off and push back home. Just things to consider.

I personally don't like everything electrical, too many things can go wrong, more costly to repair and more complexity to solve. I am old school and prefer mechanical. But with that said, times and technology is changing. So Steve with that in mind it would not hurt to learn new things and can only give you an advantage of being able to do both. If not for profit at the very least you will gain knowledge. Here is an example of electronically controlled: I own a 2013 VW CC and is having issues all of a sudden after a battery change. Code reader is telling me of malfunctioning parts, I replaced parts and still no resolution. This tells me the problem is not the parts but is electrical in nature. Which can be anything from open circuit, short or malfunctioning can module or another controller. It can make you crazy just to find out exactly where the problem is. Sometimes knowing basic electronics is not enough. So I say expand your horizons! Go for it.

Looks like a great bike. My neighbor has a cheaper E-bike and her battery was low when she stopped to talk. I had to push her to get it going and it took off and I almost fell on my face! 🤣Absolutely, start repairing them. Why limit your business income? Bob out!

I have ZERO attraction to all the e-This, e-That stuff, including mowers, yard tools, etc., most shop/DIY tools, etc., but *_IF_* they're going to catch on and be a popular "thing," then covering maintaining and repairing them would be great for those folks who accept them, but may I suggest a separate e-channel for all of that, please? Steve's e-Stuff Saloon. I would subscribe and selectively watch.

Anything that has 2 or more parts will eventually need service. If you don’t provide it, someone else will. Looks like it will mostly be swapping out components, unlike rebuilding complete carbs.

Haha, your Boxer might just become the fastest dog on two wheels! But seriously, biking with your furry friend is a wonderful way to bond and stay active.

@StevesSmallEngineSaloon we go for daily walks all rear long in Edmonton, but I'm not a springchicken, That's why I like the fat tires for better traction in the snow.

Now I know what's starting all the Canadian wildfires! Just kidding. I guess someone has to repair electric equipment. But it would be boring to watch and I would miss the payoff of hearing it fire up and run at the end.

Less expensive than some regular bikes i've been looking at - They need to be fixed - No gas smell either.

Who needs a gas smell when you can have the sweet scent of savings? Electric bikes are a win-win!

Cool bike for sure, But...where I live people are riding these things on the road like a motorcycle. I think these are gonna have to be regulated in certain situations or somebody is gonna get killed. Should they require a motorcycle type license and be registered and insured since they have folks driving them on the road? Lots of questions here.

Take out all the screws and bolds, and use Loctite to re-fasten them. Chinese bolds vibrate off.
