In my opinion, Hip Hop isn't dead. We in a transition of creative renaissance. Lets take a look back to hip hop when it all started. The genre was more revolutionary based and people were talking about how they felt and what was happening before. Now coming back to Hip-Hop today, a lot has changed...the genre itself has transitioned into different types of Hip-Hop. We now not only have Boom-Bap, but we have trap, RnB, Pop, Emo, Alternative Hip-Hop etc. Hip-Hop has changed a lot, in a good way yes because we are now at the stage of creating something brand new and unique. We cannot live in the 1998 music realm when we in 2023 bumping new and crazy Hip-Hop music, but we can remember the importance of Rap. I say we have to accept the recent change in Hip-Hop and evolve around the genre. We give a chance to acknowledge the young rappers out there, and we accept that the Hip Hop we had a decade ago isn't the same as the Modern Day Hip-Hop.

Hip hop isn’t dying. Y’all just ain’t LOOKING for the dope shit, y’all just sifting thru what is force fed to you. There are some incredible artist, making some compelling music, but you have to look for it. You can’t rely on the charts, or radio or whatever platform to introduce you to art, they just serve you products. And I’d you think it is dying, then try creating an album that you think has what the current landscape lacks. 🤷🏽♂️ I promise you, hip hop is alive and well, you just can’t expect the mainstream to deliver it to you…
@VettieSincere Жыл бұрын
I agree I don’t really listen to a lot of mainstream music. There’s a few songs that slip through the cracks and sound good but for the most part I just listen to whatever I like regardless if it’s mainstream or not. The reason mainstream gets blamed for the current state of hip hop itself is bc of its influence. Just because we listen to music outside of the mainstream bubble doesn’t take away from the damage it’s doing rap as a genre.

The problem is, is that you have to look for dope artists. Dope artists used to be force fed and they are not anymore, not everybody is going to hunt for good music. It is being slowly suppressed. The fact that the mainstream died is evidence of a slow decline, eventually the underground will be killed off too. Site owners can shadow ban whatever they want to, the power of internet is the problem.

Crazy because i was thinking about making a video myself about the 50 years of Hip Hop.. you took a lot of words you said in this video straight out of my mouth🙏🏾 I feel like a lot of times “rappers” aren’t really rappers in hip hop. But they’ll be put in the category of hip hop because they’re black and it’s easy to make black people out to be a monolith.. Would love to know your thoughts on a difference between hip hop and rap or if you even make a difference in your future videos🙏🏾 Great video as always🔥🔥 My favorite part of watching this channel is seeing the clear growth trend that’s been happening. I believe mainstream Hip hop is dying but the underground is thriving imo. As a lyricist and emcee, I am apart of the underground and although it may not be as large as the mainstream, there’s many artists who bring substance and take the art seriously. Roc Marciano, 38 Spesh, Big K.R.I.T, Ab Soul, and myself to name a few. The underground will always keep the art alive in my opinion.

Many rappers are now doing what I call singing rap. It is so disgusting. They should stop it. Part of the problem also come from the beat makers. Beats used to be melodious and now testurious. They add tons of effects. I was watching a video of someong making a beat on Youtoube. He played a very great melody, which sounded nice. He later added some effects. That transformed the Melody to something else. I was like, why would you do that. He must have learned that idea from another beatmaker on KZbin. This content creation era helped in killing Hip-Hop. Everyone is a teacher on KZbin now. Many of these guys have no idea of what they are doing.

Unfortunately, it hasn't been Hip Hop but Pop popular music for quite a long time. Sometimes it can't even be called rap. Because a lot of the current so-called Mc's can't even rap. They are not typical Story telling or Lyricist Rappers like Kool G Rap or Big Daddy Kane for example. Unfortunately, the new "Rappers" today are the mainstream and not the underground or real Hip Hop. Currently only listening to Primo and old veterans if they release a new single. The new so called Rappers don't interest me. 1) They have no soul. 2) They have no depth. 3) They have no lyricism. Their style is all about being rich. They get high and have hundreds of women in their bed. It's very embarrassing. BTW: Great content! Peace!

I think the fun and having a good time is missing in the music today … I also think that we have forgotten to make the music for the people rather than solely for ourselves … and the violence has made the culture dark and gloomy .. music is about touching the soul of others … it’s about making the fans feel some type of way … that’s the ingredient that’s missing in hiphop right now … peace ✅

It's crazy because if you actually do your homework and listen to the foundation of hip-hop you'll find the founders of hip-hop saw this coming all along. Numerous artists talked about owning your masters, providing true poetry and spiritual substance, as well as avoiding glorifying lifestyles that would lead inner city communities to spiral down. As an underground rapper I have to spend a lot of time focusing on the craft, and studying the greatest of all time and working backwards so that I can become the best artist I can be. As I've evolved in my skill I understood the importance of storytelling and motivating a listener because it's not just about becoming the greatest rapper to ever do its also about saving lives and inspiring a better future for others.

Hip hop these days is to me what rock was in the 80's, it was at the end of its life cycle as THE cultural influence. Rock became like a corporate parody of itself with hair metal. Modern hip hop is like this for me these days. I grew up in the "golden era" and hip hop these days like doesn't feel like anything. More like a vacuous parody of what hip hop used to be. But like rock, it just ceases to the be the main cultural force, and integrates into the culture.

People should always study the participants of the game or field they're attempting to enter like for instance I liken it to Squid Game if you were to participate in it surely one would study the past participants from previous games why because it's about life and death so you'd be foolish not to. Like you said some don't take the craft seriously it's a shame I guess. Also you're right Hip Hop is a reflection of this 🌎 it has the good, the bad and the ugly.

First of all, we must understand that no one who can actually play music, as in actual musicians nor people who truly know good music is jealous or envious of newcomers who go to Best Buy this morning, buy a laptop, come home, download "Fruity Loops", oh excuse me, FL Studio and in a few hours are suddenly calling themselves Producers/ Musicians. The fact is, anyone over 3 or 4 years old can "make a beat," but because of this illusion, almost anything passes as music or Hip Hop, and therein lies the tragedy of it all. Technology is great and this is an amazing time to be a musician, however lets not get it twisted... We all know a real musician when we see one and a laptop, FL Studio, and 10 minutes does not a musician make. Lastly, take your time, learn your craft, and then make some meaningful contributions to the art/the culture.

The huge success of Hiphop is because it was sold to the white masses because that was where the money was, Dr Dre with Eminem and Timbaland with Justin Timberlake just to name two. For Me in the UK Hiphop is not dead but there is only really one successful record label and KZbin channel here and that's High Focus records, however there style is not new its based on 90s boombap. Another Rap style from UK was Grime a fast paced rap style with beats mixing Hiphop sample chops with heavy synth sounds and bass.

Actually, I think the internet killed it, there is not enough live interaction, point blank. Hip-hop in the 90s was more of a get together thing, cyphers on every corner citywide, and multiple venues to display your talent, that don't charge people to perform lol. The social element is gone and that ruins a lot of it, it is not as fun anymore, it is more of a financial goal than a social activity to enjoy. The internet is destroying a lot of society in that fashion, live interaction is dying all around. It is also not displayed on television networks as much like BET and MTV, because there are too many different apps for people to go to, and the American audience's attention is not focused on a limited number of outlets.

What happened to artistry, musicality, instruments, the soul….just so you know I’m a old white guy who does not relate to rap at all but have this to say about all genres rock, country, blues and when I say that you have to take music over a long span, 1940’s to current. Even though there is much I didnt identify with it never sounded like noise, now most things just sound like noise. Country ain’t country, rock is thrash metal, blues and soul and r&b doesn’t exist and rap is well I guess rap. I miss being excited that something new was going to move me, so maybe I’m just old and ran my course. I did try telling my 19 year old there is nothing new that didn’t come from those that came before you and you should expand your library and have an appreciation of the old stuff if you like the new. If it helps movies have died in the same way for me. As evidence all that has been new is the comic book movies that weren’t created pre 2000 and now we are just in my childhood remaking old movies badly might I add, or making a movie out of a tv show that I watched that few have heard of these days. Wish everyone luck but think most have forsaken their roots and now things are at a dead end and you don’t have the true partisanship to create something new, certainly not better as music is someone sharing their story, that was worth sharing or something beneficial. Now just sex, drugs, and violence. It’s that what we deem beneficial? No need to answer that question, I know the real answer and I know the answer most will give. Truth, reality and perspective shouldn’t be far apart. Why are people old enough to know better than to condone these things still condoning. Best to all, I guess my rant doesn’t really make in any better of a spot, just love music very much, one of my only friends. Don’t shoot the messenger

I think that its part the labels fault & partly the artists fault. Labels are pushing the same type of rappers which is normally promoting negativity, sex, guns & violence. It's the artists fault because they are afraid to go outside of the box & be different. I guess if they do, their music won't get promoted by the label. So to sum it up, if the artists all switch to positive type of music, they won't have any negativity to promote and they would have to accept the change because they won't make any money.

That part!! But in 2023 it’s kindve no excuse bc independent artists have a better opportunity to win with social media, streaming, exclusive content for their fans, print on demand merch they may want to do and etc

@@VettieSincere I totally agree with you sis, nevertheless artists are still trying to sign these deals with these big name record labels. Know one wants to be patient, and grind it out for several years before they actually reach a high level of success & stardom. Being independent is the best way to go nowadays, but if you dangle 50k in front of a rapper who is probably from the projects & tell them to sign this deal, they will more than likely jump at it. Now the label owns you & everything you do, wear, and more than likely rap about

That’s always been a thing. I actually kinda like the disses and the back and forth bc it really showcases their skills. I just don’t like it when it becomes beef outside of the music that leads to people getting hurt

This video is spot on! As a rapper myself I’m sad to see hiphop is such a weird state. Especially with the industry and microwave music. If y’all need a new artist that respects the history of hiphop, dope lyricism , raps with a purpose and is 100% independent and owns his own label check me out 🙏🏾! If I’m wack let me know 😂
