There are always a few movies that come to mind when you think about your childhood. If you grew up in the 2000s, there's a good chance that one of those movies is Holes. Holes could've been a generic, forgettable Disney product, but it ended up being much more. In this video, I discuss what makes Holes a memorable childhood classic.

I rewatched it again in 2023 and these boys take me back to the early 2000s. They remind me so much of those days and my old neighborhood.

Holes was the first thing I was "too old" for. Never read the book, never saw the film. That said, I think this is a very historically significant film. It's one of the last great children's adventure films. Before Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and eventually Marvel changed the genre forever.

If only if only the woodpecker sighs. The bark on the tree were as soft as the skies. The wolf waits below hungry and lonely. He cries to the moon. If only if only.

Bro I was gonna watch this video when my young cousin showed up to me house and I asked her if she’s ever seen Holes. She was adamant that she’s never seen it so you best be sure I pulled it up and sat her through it. She loved it when all the like characters started clicking. And we she made the connection between the fortune teller & Hector. Oh man, it’s been like 8 years since I last saw Holes & I was getting goosebumps all throughout man. She was like “they don’t make em like this no more. Everything is like toned down and about [insert any virtue signalling, pc, or lgbtq subject]” It was such a breath of fresh air to see a Disney movie whose characters are characters and not checklists. This movie is amazing, and has more “life lessons” than I remembered. Love it, reminds me of easier days.

Man I remember reading this book in like the third or fourth grade.. it was one of my allll time favorites. When I finally saw the movie it was such an exciting and satisfying moment. The movie captured the essence of the book so perfectly. That was my first time witnessing a successful movie adaption and it remains one of the best adaptations of all time imo
