Great tip, there is no substitute for the rights parts and the lubrication of metal parts that work in salty rust belt environments. My hss928ctd replaced my 50 year 726 toro that itself can be saved, but only after retirement or a shortened honey do list, due to the time involved in finding alternate sources of supply for obselete wear item bushings or the need to "knit" a few new parts etc.

thanks for comment. I sincerely believe a Honda snowblower can almost last forever if properly used and maintained. I have several that are over 40 years old that look and work like new. If I can do it anyone can.

I have a 50" blower for my garden tractor. The MFR put the cheapest, smallest, aluminum gearbox on it. Shaft wore through the bushing and housing in a few seasons. I refitted a nice cast iron commercial gearbox on it. As far as shear pins, just blowing snow, shears them. I have replaced a pin, resumed blowing, and the new one shears 3 feet of blowing later. Sucks to have to replace pins 3 or 4 times in a single session. Grade 8 bolts in there now.

may be other reasons why the shears are blowing so easily.
