This thing though, I'm pretty fucking hyped for. I love the Smiler at my home park but it's not "intense" enough, this is simple but given the restraints and elements I think it's gonna take it.

It’s a big deal for the UK sure, we haven’t got a coaster this tall since stealth in ‘06 but that’s not because Thorpe park doesn’t get as many visitor as American parks or they don’t make as much money. They DO. in fact Thorpe park makes over 100 mill a year easily. They just don’t reinvest into the parks here in the UK because there is no competition. They could invest like American parks if they wanted to but they don’t. The only reason they even built Hyperia was because of the treat of the London resort. It took them 12 years to build a new coaster at Thorpe park. That’s over 1.2 billion in profits. This shouldn’t be a big deal to us but we get so little from Merlin that our expectations are so low.

We are though. USA! USA! USA! lol jk. America does lead the world in many sectors but most of us realize we're not the best at everything. For coasters though, our parks are so packed with elite rides it's easy to take it for granted. Also RMC, just saying. Many consider RMC to be responsible for the best coaster in the world multiple times. Credit where it's due though. Most of the greatest coasters are from European manufacturers.

i get that as you are american you have a lot of very good coasters in your country. we dont get as many of these coasters, mainly because of height restrictions. this is also a very special coaster for us brits because we dont have any ejector airtime (or weird inversions for that matter) and the only coaster that has ejector airtime is icon at bpb (a rather slow mack multi launch). also, in my opinion there is nothing like this in the world and will really boost the parks attendance after not debuting a new coaster in 12 years. also at 1:30, this is an artificial splashdown.

Mate, shut up. You praise the ride for drop and all its cool elements but then you go it is sort of short, so it is bad. Also that first element after the drop is not an inversion and will still give crazy airtime. That twist element will be one of the best in the world and the stall will be elite. This has high potential to be a top tier coaster. But just since it is short it is bad. This thing might be short but it will pack a punch. And this is amazing for the UK.

From the top of the lift hill, the ride time is not much shorter than Nemesis at Alton Towers. I feel it's about quality not quantity. Hyperia is 37 seconds, Nemesis is 46 seconds approximately.

the 180 degree twist at during the first drop will add resistance and slow it down, so it won't be that scary. The drop on Saw is probably more scary as it's beyond 90 degrees. This twist is also why Stealth isn't that scary when coming down from the top.

@@BrianSu The first peak after the lift hill is much lower. This suggests a large loss in mechanical energy during the first drop. It's an interesting physics question to ask why. Perhaps more friction? Or linear KE to rotational KE and then thermal energy due to friction?

That’s not why people are hyped. The elements look absolutely insane, the amount of inversions doesn’t matter, but there’s gonna be insanely strong airtime all the way throughout the layout and some elements we have never seen before on any coaster. The drop literally twists 180 degrees very sharply when the track is already beyond-vertical, do I need to say more? That’s gonna be one of the best first drops out there and all the wait will be worth it for the first drop alone

You need to remember that this is going to be in a relatively small theme park, which currently has 4 high thrill rollercoasters, 1 of which only lasts 20 seconds… so this is still going to be an absolute beast compared to those.

It's not a record breaker outside the UK, but that's just marketing to begin with. In the end it's still going to be a fast paced hyper coaster with some of the craziest elements on a coaster of this style.

It's just not long enough. For me rather. The drop is promising but it's basically some outer bank turns and a stall. It needs more. I was critical of the stall but now I understand why the stall is the way it is. Because without it, the ride would be extremely too short. But it is unique as most stalls exit in the same direction they enter. Cedar point is my home park so yes my standards are a lot higher. However, I hope you guys enjoy this ride and it lives up to your expecatations when you finally get to ride it. :)

Speaking for most of the enthusiasts in the uk and being one that also vlogs these parks this is a big deal for us because its the biggest in the uk, but that is just your opinion there are a lot of ameriacan enthusiasts that are in their words are syked for hyperia it also has a worlds first drop turn aswell, most of merlin coasters are worlds firsts, coaster studios who know their stuff in the themepark world are excited for it it may not be as big as american coasters but apart from disney and universal in america we are much better when it comes to themeing every american vlogger who has been to our parks have all said it, the whole of the themepark world are really excited for hyperia dont talk about something you clearly know nothing about try it before you crap all over it

It really is a shame about the length but there’s gonna be more airtime than you expect. The first two inversions are gonna have sustained ejector airtime, not to mention the first drop and the final two ejector pops, the first one having insane laterals and whip to go with it. I’m actually scared for the non inverting immelman considering it is going to be 79 feet shorter than the first drop - it is going to fly over there and give super powerful airtime

The drop has ejector, the Immelmann has ejector, the turnaround has ejector, the outer bank has ejector and the final hill has ejector. So yeah, this ride will have lots of ejector and not all airitme has to be boring repetitive camelbacks.

@iliketrains3546 your missing my point. I prefer rides that have 0 inversions. At thorpe park there are only 2 rides like that. One is flying fish, which is a family coaster 😂 the other is stealth which is great but its a 1 trick pony. There are 4 other inverting coasters in the park. The one thing we don't have is some kind of hyper coaster like Manta at seaworld. All I was saying is I would have personally been more excited for a ride back that, which we don't have in the UK than another ride that goes upside down which SAW, Nemesis, the swarm and colossus all already do. I'm not trying to upset anyone just stating my personal preference. I'm happy for anyone who is excited by this ride I just am not 🤷‍♀️

I think it's gonna be brilliant, Mack Rides make my favourite coasters and they make really high quality ride hardware. My most anticipated ride for the year is Voltron Nevera at Europa Park :)

the actual height of big one is 213 foor, but is classed as 235 cause bpb measure from sea level so it makes it look way taller then it is and miles above stealth [ which it is not ]

I see lots of complaints about the lenght of Hyperia but I have the opposite opinion. I think they have packed so much into the layout already. Making it longer would just mean it meandering and losing all its enjoyment from whats there already. The biggest killer for me is a ride that doesn't keep itself going. Recently done Ride to Happiness and theres points where that borders on filler, but it ends with that insane double up. Totally makes the filler bits worth it for the getting chucked into orbit when entering the brakes.

I mean, im in germany, and even if we have parks like europa park, phantasialand, heide park, hansa park, movie park, holiday park, tripsdrill, belantis, schwabenpark, sky park, legoland etc, and some decent and some really awesome and long rides, most of the coasters are short too and even i, who were in uk's parks, is kinda dissapointed by that. The elements look insanely good and i cant wait to ride it, but its the shortness of the ride that really dissapoint me (and maybe the fact that its not in europa park) but at least we gonna get "Voltron" this year were the thrill might not be super high, but we gonna have the length that hyperion wish to be. You have to remember Merlin can't build anything unless it is a breaks some sort of marketing record (apart from longest it seems), so all the designs spew from that. I think it might have some fun elements, but I'm still not convinced it was the best choice for the park. It neuters Stealth's selling points (speed + height) turning that into a ride that is what? Is it different enough from the parks other looping coasters? It feels like a really weird choice for me. I'd understand more if it was a Mack Extreme Spinner. Or an Intamin multi-launch. Or a next-gen Vekoma. Or an RMC. All of those could have been actually world class whilst still delivering something that stands out from the rest of the parks line-up. Will it drive UK attendance? Probably for a bit. I just can't help but feel it is a slight missed opportunity.
