Hi there, I came upon your channel yesterday when researching about social work and now I am one of your subscribers. I am currently in getting my MSW but am deciding on which concentration to choose either the clinical route or Macro. I know I want to specialize in the health though. Thank you for sharing your experiences. It is very very helpful. God Bless and Congrats on your new role.

Heyy :-) thanks for subscribing. Have u had any experience since completing your bachelor's??? It's helpful in deciding what area to specialize in :-) looks good on your resume too . X

JJasmineSW :) thanks for responding. I studied Psychology in my undergrad, so It's basically now that I am learning about the social work field. What did attracted me to social work was that its values and ethics matched my personal beliefs. It was while working as a recreational personnel with the dementia population at a rehabilitation center/ nursing home that a clinical psychologist recommended social work to me as by that time i wanted to further my education. Now I am open to seeing what else is out there and how I can expose myself to different areas through learning about others experiences like you :) and volunteering at different organizations.

Hi I am 23 and I was interested in social work in highschool, lost interest and now I find myself visiting the idea again. I am just really lost and confused about what to do with myself, so just wanted to ask you do you feel that in being a social worker you can actually help people In need and it's not just hours of paperwork and depression? Do you find it to be rewarding?
@JasmineAmaa7 жыл бұрын
Nefertiti Negus I definitely help people on the daily. My work isn't depressing it's exhausting mentally. The paper work is definitely not fun. But u will be amazed by the difference simple things you do for others make. X

Hi... your videos have been really helpful... I would be going for social work in a couple of years but I've just not had the feels for it, considering the fact that it would become my career (that's quite big) and then I came across this video... you have a thing for spreading compassion and joy and to be honest I can relate with that. But then again I came across your most recent video on moving. I'm just curious... do you still feel this way about social work tho? Like do you still have the passion for it and do you still see it as the key you need in actually helping and empowering people?

Hello, Jasmine! I just subscribed and found your channel :) I was wondering if you have a video or could make a video on the salary that a social worker receives? Everyone is always saying how little social workers are paid and I'm wondering if this is simply a stereotype of the field or if this is actually the case? Social work seems so rewarding and it's so discouraging to hear that there is very little pay. It makes you feel like you should change your career path although you actually see yourself excelling in the field. If you could offer some advice I would really appreciate it :)
@JasmineAmaa8 жыл бұрын
+pinkeeluvr Hello, This is hard to touch on as pays vary in different countries. I can do a video according to Australian stats. x

+Jasmine Ama Hi a gain, I am sure there's many more from down under watching your videos. One question, do you believe that there's much opportunity for people like me: with a different background and French being my first language? Just thought I'd ask because I have to admit, a lot of my insecurities are linked to it. All the best Jasmine xx
@JasmineAmaa8 жыл бұрын
+Marilene Marcelin hi Marilene, Absolutely. That shouldn't hold u back at all. Your written communication seems fine. Even if you are not great now you will only get better with time. So definitely go ahead and pursue whatever career u want. All the best x

Hi! I am also considering this career choice. I was wondering what degree you went for? 4 years? More then 4 years? Also, was the schooling stressful or was fun interesting throughout the schooling process? Was it hard to find a job in Social Worker?
@JasmineAmaa8 жыл бұрын
Breann Carpenter Hi Breanne, my course went for four years. I was a bit of both tbh. There were times when assignments got overwhelming but it was okay for the most part. I personally did not have trouble finding work. i got a job pretty much immediately after I graduated. I had a bit of experience as a support worker though so that may have definitely helped. x
@breanncarpenter59698 жыл бұрын
If you don't mind me asking, what did you do to get experience? Any suggestion for future when I go/if to get experience? Thank you for the response. I have had a lot of question and am please to find someone to ask besides google. :)

That's okay Breann, I was able to get into youth support work with no experience. So that's all I did before getting into the field. x
