I got my FX6 a few months ago and love it, especially for solo creators who do lots of run and gun stuff or sit down interview stuff it's probably the best camera out there right now because you have everything on board, ND filter, audio and great footage. unfortunately mine had to go back for repair already because the ND filter got stuck down... other than that I love the camera. A7sIII and A1 are still what I grab to make KZbin videos with though...

I've had it for a year and a half and I can't imagine using anything else. I recently got the FX30 as a B cam because the price is so low it makes more sense to buy one than keep renting for situations when I need a second cam. Great combo, best of both worlds. Perfect match.

On the daily basis I’m working with FX9, but let me tell you, if only media houses would be willing to switch for the 6’es I’d be one of the happiest people there are working in tv industry. This body is such a versitile tool, easily “riggable” to gimbals and such, that there’s no competition in that price/performance range in my opinion. That said, please, don’t stop making awesome content ❤😎

I’ve own mine since June 2021. It’s by far my favorite camera I’ve ever used. I use it for commercial’s, music videos, weddings, etc. I’m picking up an FX3 as my B-Cam, which I think will be a good extension of my current set up. I do plan on buying a second FX6 at some point too

My thoughts about the fx6: The Fx6 has some ergonomic changes that make me shoot differently from my fx3. In some ways, that's a limitation, but those limitations actually force me to shoot different, and I love that about the fx6. The side handle is absolutely the best-feeling grip I've used. Operation is much more seamless with all buttons on the camera itself. Variable NDs degrade the image with color casts and polarization. So you're getting a better image. Plus audio options for the top handle is sweet... Set 3 and 4 to auto and you've got backup tracks for both inputs.

I love your channel, Peter! Funny, I just got my A7S iii back from repair and was testing it out while watching this. Glad you still like the A7S iii, I have barely used it as it had to be on repair because of dead pixels in the camera. Would love to get something like the FX6 in the future. Only the ND is worth it. Great video about it, good luck shooting amazing videos with it :-)

The FX6 is definitely one of, if not the best camera I've ever used. It made shooting on the go such a breeze and I never once had to worry about it's performance or capability. That variable ND filter made going from inside to outside and vice versa so simple during shoots and not having to worry about if I got the shot correctly exposed. Love it!

I went from the C70 to the Fx6, they're both great camera's but the auto NDs, autofocus and lowlight out of the FX6 are complete game-changers when shooting especially run and gun shoots.

Using the FS5 since it came out made this an easy transition. FS7 was too big and FS9 too expensive so the 6 is the perfect size and quality we needed for an upgrade. It took a year to order but it is next level for anyone who loves manual everything. Updating software from Imac has been very difficult, only negative 💕

You should consider getting a glidecam for that fx6. Gives a real natural floating look, and you will need something since it doesn't have IBIS. Glad your continuing to investing in yourself.

Hey buddy you got a great camera. I have an fx3 and FS7 II and now in this 2023 I'm gonna to buy my own Fx6. I love my FS7 because when I tried the FX6 has similar things like FS7, If anyone has known the FS7 it is the predecessor of the FX9 and it is a powerhorse camera, just the FS7 is super 35mm crop sensor and FX6 full frame but guys both cameras has the same quaility, easy way to adjust everything with the buttons and the best part the Internal ND filters is another level in those cinemas cameras. The Fx3 is a super camera too but the without internal ND filter make me think to not use like a main camera with external ND Filter, I use it for 4K 120fps footages situations and the FS7 for the 4k 24 or 30fps and some situation 240fps 1080p. Well Peter, don't ever regret it, your FX6 is one of the best cameras in the world and you are blessed with it. Have a good one. Great Video. Cheers

Had to add a Zacuto EVF and extra arm bracket, but love it. In fact, after a Sony G prime set... ended up buying the fx3. Check out Alistar Chapman's audio mod bracket. I didn't like the mic bouncing.

Amazing video Peter! I have the same camera and there is one more important difference between the FX6 and A7SIII: the rolling shutter effect amount. For fast movements, the image will look kind of skewed/distorted on the A7SIII while the FX6 does not have this problem. That's why you should use your FX6 for example for Nike like commercials 😁

Oh, and only thing this camera missing from the perfection is lack of opengate 3:2 shooting mode. Unfortunately it got ~17:9 sensor so it's not possible. Lame it's not possible with other Sony cameras that got 3:2 sensors. Cause in this mode 1.6x Anamorphic lenses make so much sense. It definetely makes sense on Panasonic cameras, especially S5IIX.

Hi @peterlindgren. I am really struggling to decide between FX3 and FX6. As a professional I want a bigger camera, but there are so many pros to the FX3 regarding size and functions. I very often find my self in situations where I need to rig down my old A7III, and that`s what suits the job. And clients don`t hesitate about size. And surprisingly, even the files from the A7III are almost always good enough for the purpose (I don`t do TV-productions so far). But now, I need to step up to 10-bit, XLR and some more. Do you think it`s a good idea to go via the FX3 and wait for the FX6 mkII? I really want the XLRs to be on the body. This is SO hard. I don`t want to throw money around :) LOVE your channel by the way. From your little brother in Norway.

Depending upon your lens and ND situation, I'd almost go with the FX3 and invest in a few more lenses. Both the FX6 and 3 have handle-bound XLR, so you won't get XLR on the body anyway unless you go with the FX9. The internal ND is AMAZING and so helpful, but if you're well-equipped with ND then I'd say start with the FX3, put more money toward kitting it out, and upgrade when it's time.

@@takoflame4948 Depends what's the definiotion of pro work? Work that someone pays you for? Then a lot can be done with ZV-E10 for money = pro. Easily interviews, even main angle. It can be powered from the mains. I think with Atomos you can get redundancy of recordings.

I use A sony A7siii since when it came out and from very first day I used Slog3 but still my footage is very noisy When I see someone else videos I really get hopeless. why my footages are still so noisy and unsharp? By the way it's my first ever camera. Can someone help me please?

A7SIII owner here. The camera has a somewhat dual iso system with iso 640 & 12800 as bases for Slog 3. So please try your best to stay at least on either one of those iso. In my experience, I find that anything past iso 3200 is too noisy to my taste & you should better crank the iso up to 12800 for a much cleaner (with a bit of detail lost) image. You also can shoot with an iso lower than 640 for darker scenes but do remember that when you do that, you'll essentially sacrifice your dynamic range especially for the highlights part of the scene for the lower noise dark part of the scene. I hope these words make sense to you. Happy shooting.

I am yet to get a clear answer about the difference between a7siii and fx6 having used both of them. I do handheld and gimbal both. And fx6 is a nightmare on a gimbal for longer hours. On A7siii, I mean for ND we can have external NDs for all lenses and sony's xlr module if audio is that concerning. Rest we can customise all a7siii buttons of whatever fx6 does quickly. Still waiting for some real reason to upgrade. Maybe picture quality is way different and better? Don't know clearly yet

ND and no IBIS in my opinion is the main factors. The E-ND is just another level, and the lack of IBIS makes the image more "Natural" in a way.

@@PeterLindgren1 One can always turn off the ibis and use gyro data for stabilisation in post if needed. VND solves the purpose of e-vnd. In some run and gun situations I have found VND to be faster than fx6's e-vnd. As I say not a clear advantage yet!

Peter, that eND is a killer feature. As a Canon ecosystem engaged man I still hope there will be EF/RF camera with similar build-in ND (that also have automatic mode), but probably Sony patented it... life is awesome, but with some salt sometimes :D

well i think absolutely nothing about it other that built in nd filters are a cool feature. I've owned my Canon R6 for 1.5 years that i love and I'm still going to need another 1.5 years just to master all the features it has and probably 5 more before I even think of replacing it. Im not a professional, my R6+R7 combo might as well stay with me for 10 years or until it breaks for good.
