​@@dukebozikowski3801 REDs are finicky cameras, not really suitable for large productions due to their constant software issues, random freezes, boot up times etc. You need to consider RED is a small company compared to industry giants like Sony and ARRI, they usually can't afford to polish their products very well as they need to push it to the market as soon as possible. Both Venice and Alexa will give you a top notch image which is very hard to tell apart these days. It is more of a personal preference based on experience with a given platform.

Would definitely love to see more videos that talks more in depth about the operational side of the VENICE! I think there are not much content on KZbin for this particular camera. Small information such as the part where false colours is automatically targetted at the log file instead of the LUT, I think is incredibly important. Is there a certain reason that you like using lens modifiers such as the pro-mist? Obviously, it's a personal preference. I'm slowly rolling into a lot of the new trends but damn it's hard for me to find motivation for those adapters/modifiers unless it's an ultra-specific purpose. Love your channel dude. Your reason for wanting to shoot in open gate full-frame is the same reason why I loved the open gate 4:3 aspect ratio in _Zack Snyder's Justice League._ When I realized it wasn't cropped to 4:3 and that was the whole image, it really gave the movie this bizarre yet bold sense of scale. So much so that, if they make a movie that was meant to be shown in IMAX, like _Dune_ or _Avatar: The Way of Water,_ I don't want the home video releases to be cropped to 2.39:1 because it'll make the image feel more cramped for me.

price difference is basically double if you go with the new 8k sensor. the 6k one is identical to the sensor in the original venice. so around $25k for internal recording and some other minor features is not worth it. yes the venice 2 is better in almost every regard, but at some point there will be diminishing returns. especially if that money goes a long way for a lens set like the vista primes, storage etc. and a production ready mini lf is even more than double the cost of a venice.

I was wondering exactly this when you announced you bought the Venice. I'm actually doing the opposite. I'm getting a bit away from FF anamorphics and leaning toward the Super35. Mainly cause the rigs are just too heavy or maybe I'm just getting too old? FF makes the cost of all the rigging go up. You need the larger EZrig, the bigger gimbal, even larger filters, and so on. Though spherical lenses are much smaller and more manageable. But yeah Super35 isn't so bad with anamorphics. Very cool though. I wouldn't mind shooting on the Venice at all! Very nice

I invested in an alexa mini half a year ago and I'm not too concerned about resolution, but still looking into options like Topaz Labs 8k upscaling, just in case the client asks for more. Thanks for your insides on your destination. I’d really like to know what your thoughts on the RED V-Raptor VV was, or if you even considered it. I’m not a big fan of RED cameras myself, but leaving the fanboy war aside, it is a fantastic camera at an even better price point. 8k is super future prove, dynamic range is good (just 1 stop below Alexa LF and 1 above Venice), good body and 10 to maybe 15k less? (depends a bit...) Maybe it’s because RED isn't that big of a name for clients? Would really like to know!
