Of all the jams that I've heard using the new circuit tracks I keep coming back to this one again and again. It's simple but musical and interesting. Some of them aren't any of these things. It's just too bad that it's so short. Let's hear some more when you get a chance.

I found the Circuit Tracks to be the best value synth/groove box I've purchased. At the price to be able to have that much control along with two external MIDI tracks you can patch into the box to add effects, wtf.

There are a lot of things to like, but there are some very frustrating limitations. Simple and intuitive workflow is very well known advantage on the Circuit devices. Although, it may become a curse when you get used to it and then dealing with other devices and their workflows. 🙃😁 However, a big limitation is that it is complicated to utilize the full potential of the synth engines, which are far more capable than it seems. Synth has a plethora of OSC waveforms to choose from, 3 x envelopes, lots of modulation routings, lfo waveforms, distortion types, chorus fx parameters etc. But accessing those parameters is painful to the point of giving up. You see, Novation opted for NRPN midi signals for most of the advanced parameters to be controlled. Like changing the waveform of LFO, type of distortion,all but one envelope, EQ parameters, Chorus parameters. Hence, if you don't have a midi controller capable of sending NRPN type, you need to buy a new one. If you think that now with the new controller you're set and ready to go, hold your horses. Your brand new midi controller with endless encoders has presets. You can use the 8 knobs to control more than just 8 parameters. You set every encoder in every preset according to Circuit Tracks Programmer Reference, and find out that Circuit Tracks does not even support relative midi mode. Moving encoders on your brand-new controller results with erratic jumps. Then you're thinking "well if everything fails, I can just use the absolute mode". Yep, you can use it, but then you have to face the parameter value jumping when changing presets on your midi controller. The workaround to this problem is to spend 200 - 350 euros for something like Bomebox or some other midi processing device. I think this whole mess to get something from what is already there is a stupid waste of resources.

I guess the fun is in working with the limitations and not against. This is a great jam box and it's just that. To get some inspiration. To get into a flow. But thanks for your elaborate thoughts on possibilities.

@@3clectic0 One thing are limitations of a product and other a product falsely advertised. When you release a midi chart controls, you're granting that external midi control works. When it doesn't work, it is fraud.

Hi, I am new with groovebox hardwares and went through your contents and loved it. 😊 In my case, I would need to trigger loops say for 15 different songs in live gigs having around 4 loops for each song. I want to go completely dawless,by loading only the loops (say guitar,drums,pads/strings) in hardware. Can you please suggest if it would solve my purpose ?

Hey, do you have any issues with volume? My external gear is really low volume compared to the track's own sounds. Using the microfreak, for example. And if you had any issues, how did you solve it? I basically have to lower all of tracks' own channels and crank microfreak up to full volume to get a decent mix.
@maxpowers29082 жыл бұрын
Yo, you know what I discovered about the microfreak tho? Each preset has differant settings and the max volume is differsnt for each preset. That fixed the volume problem for me. The max volume which i think its labled as amp i dont remrmber is almost always turned way down. Sometimes even in the negatives

@@3clectic0 thanks for replying. what's the difference between midi out and midi thru?
@3clectic03 жыл бұрын
@@moviecellar1639 the modi thru is an additional port which is configurable to be set to midi out 2 or as a midi thru port which send a copy of the midi in signal, I guess but let me look into that. I have set it to a midi out 2 port so I can sequence 2 external synths
@System-15413 жыл бұрын
@@moviecellar1639 MIDI out sends sequencing and control data to the device it's connected to. MIDI thru passes the the data it receives from its input port to the next device without consuming it. This is used for chaining MIDI gear together.
