Why I bought the Sony A7IV

Ever since January of 2021, I’ve been rocking the Sony A7Siii. One of the best cameras you can get your hands on when it was released. A lot of people bashed the camera because it “only” had 12MP. Those people probably didn’t understand why it was designed that way. And for me, most photos that I’ll take and post, 12MP is more than enough. Especially since I only post them in social media and don’t print them.
But I do have to admit that there were those times, that I wish I had a camera with more megapixels. Most notably, when I was taking photos of my kids playing football and I was so far away that even having a 70-180mm wasn’t enought. Being able to crop in a lot and still retain decent quality was something I longed for.
Enter May 2023, I bought the ZV-E1 which was a smaller, lighter Sony A7siii. It was perfect for my use cases as a content creator. Now I had 2 12MP cameras and this is when I decided to sell my A7siii and buy the A7IV. Looking forward to using this camera a lot and posting more content about my experience.

Why do you prefer xh2s? Genuinely curious. I'm torn between upgrading to the xh2s or switching systems to Sony. Mostly using it for content creation and photography

​@@thorinclaeys3711 stacked sensor so no more 33ms rolling shutter, no crop at 4k60, flog doesnt destroy shadows/blacks and opengate for 9:16 ease of use. Apsc in general ( or even smaller sensor ) has better ibis , basically fuji trounces it in anything video. Loses on af speed and batter life

Yes, this is capable of shooting high quality videos. For the lens, that's hard to answer because that depends on what types of shots you would be taking. But if you're starting out, I'd suggest a standard zoom like Sony 24-70, Sigma 28-70 or Tamron 28-75.

Yes, the lens doesn’t have stabilization. You can use the Active Stabilization of the camera.

you can add every sony e mount lens on the a7m 4. APSC works great on them, there is even a feature you can activate that the camera crops in automatically when an apsc lens is on it. You wont get full quality of all megapixel but it will work :)

This really depends on your main use case of your camera. If hybrid shooting, definitely go for the A7IV. If your mainly a video shooter, go for the FX series.

Depends which side you lean on more video or photos. S7s3 if video (ig only takes 2 mp) so 12mp is enough. A7iv for photos. You have more play in the MP and if you're going to do weddings and blowing up your photos higher MP the better
