You read my mind on this one. They will never return the favour because they don't think ahead to the consequences of their own actions, even if they have sons going through divorces. I was arguing about domestic abuse helplines with a woman who told me to get funding for a male-only number. I had to calmly explain that men see other men as competition and the moment someone tries to help them, the funding dries up since men are the only sex that earn the money necessary. Anything taxpayer funded should be available to all. Currently we spend about £1 in DV funding on men (now legally classified as 'Viiolence against Women and Girls') for every £1,000 we spend on women. Despite men / boys being over 30% of those seriously harmed by it. The whole 'start your own' mentality is the height of hypocrisy when you see how many resources that _should_ be available to men have been completely re-directed to women.

I can understand allying with them on very specific issues, maybe, for the sake of preventing a major issue. But this is how the overton window shifts; you argue against the crazies, and then crazier people appear and the right allies with the lesser of two evils, thereby legitimising them. Which represents an overall shift leftward. Because you ally with the less-crazy of the crazies, you start adopting their worldview and their platform, and that's how you end up with "conservatives" running gender ideology and climate extremist platforms.

8:05 I dunno if you'll bring this up, but male-only spaces also provided a way for men to socialise without women around as a way of maintaining the sanctity of marriage. It's OKAY for your man to go out to a male-only club, because you know he's not going to cheat, or be flirted with, or look at other women. Take away male-only spaces, and men must socialise in places where there are lots of women. Which means to protect the marriage (or more accurately, alleviate the wife's insecurities) now the wife HAS to accompany their husband everywhere, all the time, or else (in her mind) risk losing him. Male-only clubs (and pre-feminist female-only clubs) were just as much about maintaining the strict rules of preventing immoral straying, and making trust easier between husband and wife, as they were about anything else. I mean they have their roots in Victorian society ffs, it's obvious in hindsight that societal morality and stopping uncouth relations between the sexes were highly important.

Also I had worked in film and was getting into stunt work. The women in the field are overrepresented yet call for more diversity in stunts despite women not having to actually prove themselves or have any training or experience to get these pretty well paying gigs like the men do. The women tout themselves as being stronger and more capable than male actors when it comes to stunts and this nonsense is supposedly scientifically proven according to quite a few stunt coordinators (increasingly female field). They said men are fragile and whine more about getting hurt. This is why I say let transwomen participate in women's sports.
