Edit: on the subject of the reversed optic… Objects in optic are closer than they appear. 😂 I’m also thinking of that scene from Spaceballs where the gunner is shooting all over the place and he turns out to be cross eyed. Sorry to keep editing but, after rewatching The Fat Electrician’s video on Admiral Willis Lee, and seeing this, I am screaming in rage inwardly.

My head cannon is that the E4 Mafia (which obviously doesn't exist and is just an urban legend) struck again. The CO is a bit of a kick and chewed out some poor Petty Officer 3rd Class, who just happened to be in the armory... said Petty Officer got tasked with prepping the COs rifle and tasked a junior seaman with the job to have plausible deniability.

As a Marine, I just don't have the heart to laugh at your pain or kick you when you are down. And dayum are you down bad! This is a career altering fuckup for everyone in the chain of custody of that rifle and this photo. The officer is forever stigmatized, and making a United States Navy ship's Commanding Officer look bad in front of the entire WORLD is a Very Bad Thing.
