JR, I’m 75 and been riding a BMW 1200GS and Husqvarna 701. I’ve been looking hard at the 450-500 range of bikes but in the end I’m lowering my 701 a bit so I’m more stable. My BMW is too heavy for me now and it’s time to move on. I did manage to put 100,000 miles on it.

Lot of miles and experiences right there!

It is a good upgrade, that's for sure.

That red clay when wet is a high pucker factor for sure. I was in the market for a T7 but never could find one, ended up buying a KTM 890 and I am very happy I couldnt find a T7. Love the video. Youve earned a new subscriber.

I too have a WR 250R and I love it. Depending on where I'm going. I also bought a KTM 790 adventure. R.. I will tell you there are times when I'm in some deep sand and doing other shenanigans where I think the 790 can be a little heavy. I love it for getting two places and for the most part, if I choose my routes on the roads where I'm motorcycle camping. I just have to pick my rides carefully. 60-year-old rider here. I'm patiently waiting for the BMW 450 adventure

Glad to see you get a good touring bike. I was looking at these when I came across a great deal on my T7. The Tuareg is definitely better for touring. As I already a GS and a GSA (sidecar) for touring long distance, I was looking more for my off-road adventures in the bush in Canada and the BDR type rides. The T7 fits me like a glove in the standing position… best I’ve ever had. I miss the off road abs and hills start options I have on my GS… but not the weight. I do have tubeless wheels fitted on my T7 though. With all that stated, the middleweight bike market is awesome and the choices are getting better. I’m glad to see that folks are ditching the behemoth bikes for more realistic expectations. Keep up the good work buddy. You are an inspiration 👍
@jrdepew2 күн бұрын
I hear you on the behemoth bikes! The Tuareg is a good middle ground and it’s great to see options growing in this segment. Nice that you got tubeless fitted on the T7. Been watching your Northwest Passage series.

Great video. I will have to look into the Tuareg 660 for my next Adventure bike. I had a 23 Triumph 1200 GT Explorer before my 24 CRF450RL which I have now. I still want another bike for riding the gravel and pavement. The Honda is mainly used for trail riding.

JR spot on your opinion on riding 250’s on the HWY. Although they are great on the trail. But adventure riding its usually a combination of both. At your experience and skill level you probably won’t even notice much difference while moving. They all weight 0 underway. I’am 4 years older than you and may downsize later myself. When I can’t pick it up that’s when I will move on down a little. I figure about 82 that will about do it. Cruise control it’s great. I had to eat some crow on that one. Loved your last video’s. Great job. Looking forward to more video’s. Take care my utube riding friend. 🤩

Way to go JR! Tuareg 660 has a lot of pluses going for it. If (when) I ditch the outdated Japanese bikes, it will be for something like the 660 or CFmoto. Congratulations brother, I look forward to new content with the bike.

Thanks, got a good used deal near home. Now I can hang with your V-Strom.

Good choice and a beautiful color scheme - the best, I think. I have a 2003 Aprilia Caponord ETV1000, so the big brother to the Tuareg. It's decidedly heavier and top heavy with the tank set high. Too bad because the Rotax v-twin is a fine motor. I wouldn't want to take it on anything more difficult than what you rode today.

Congratulations Joe really nice bike, for sure. I’ve been thinking about a step up from my WR250R or an addition to. I’m really liking the Royal Enfield 450 Himalayan after watching Fuzzy Bikers videos. I really like the Trailmax Missions I completed the MA and NE BDRs with them on my Pan America. Great tire on road and very adequate in most everything except for that slick GA clay. Ride safe!

Great choice, foot note!! KTM 1290 SAR’s are 480 lbs. so 450 lbs is significant for ADV weight…

That is a significant weight difference. Good to know.

So can I assume the DR650 did not cut it on the highway for you. I have a WR250r which I also love, but I am in the market for a bike with some highway power. I was hoping the DR might be that bike . . .

My same question
@jrdepewКүн бұрын
I did about 1,000 miles on hiway last year. 3 days of interstate. It definitely can do it but is more fatiguing than this bike will be. An occasional run now and then would be ok as it is great off-road.

Just another video you may use for research on some of the fixes for the Tuareg. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnKpaoCMrqyGrcUsi=uzsgcxJ82AGoGYu5 Don't get me wrong i like the Tuareg. I think it is the best middle weight out of the box, but it's not perfect and we all know that our bikes need to be functional and then we customize them to our individual tastes. Enjoy!
