Thanks so much for this great comparison. I taught on Dada for 2 years while living in China and was thinking of trying VIPkid but you sold me once again why Dada would a better fit once again. I appreciate it!

I am currently with vipkid. Almost 2 months in and i have low bookings. Pretty frustrating. Why hire teachers and then not help them get bookings? Yes, I know we are independent contractors, but really where's the support?

It is quite different for everyone, I was extremely worried about low bookings as well but I ended up having over 30 bookings within my first 2 weeks at VIP Kid. From what I've seen, it all comes down to the profile you make. I can't say which is better or anything, but if you've already signed a contract, might as well give it a shot :)

@@ashleydawn517 I did really good initially then my bookings went down. I began to follow their marketing instructions and now I am at a point that I am booked back to back. We have to be proactive to stay booked.

I have been working with VIPKID for a year now. The "grouping" is true, but you can get certified to teach as many groups as you want. They currently have 7 levels, and I teach levels 1-6. So in one day, plenty of us will teach a 4 year old, 13 year old, 7 year old, and a 10 year old. But they do that because some people have a preference for certain age groups.

I have been working for VIPKid for 52 days with little bookings. I interviewed with SayABC (sister company to VIPKid) and DaDaABC and have been offered a contract with both. I am trying to make up my mind and I think you hit the nail on the head: DaDaABC does seem more artisan. My gut has been saying DaDaABC. I have been an public school Art teacher for many years (but also I have ESE Masters and have TESOL and Reading certifications, and I have also taught ESE students) I love art! It feels like DaDa will allow the artist in me to come out. Thank you for your honest opinion and this video.

I teach also with DaDa! I like it! I use puppets props... lots of stuff. It is interesting, I just dont like only having 2 minutes between each class.. ( Teacher Silas needs water and to streach out a little) over all it is good.

It's true when I was doing the mock for VIP Kid, it was weird, bc I knew she was a current teacher and it made things awkward. I did pass it the first time, but it's bc I have 2+ years of teaching experience. Their TESOL test is HORRIBLE. Wish me luck on DaDa's interview.

Great video, thank you for the information. I'd like to make a few comments though. What you call the VIPKIP grouping is simply a certificate you get to show that you have finished the training for a certain level of English (not the age group). As you said, the training at VIPKID is amazing and so easy to go through. So, when I was first hired, while I waited (for 6 weeks) to get my first student, I trained, got certificates for 5 levels and watched as many videos as possible. I set up my classroom and prepared a variety of reward systems. So when I got my first students, I was ready. I will usually have a mix of levels from beginner to advanced and with a mix of levels (from 5 to 12 years old) all in a day. As for your comment about the creativity and the artistic aspirations of teachers, I sing to my students and know that a lot of VIPKID teachers play the guitar or other instruments, while others draw or paint with their students. You bring your gifts and abilities with you in your classroom, regardless of the platform:) There is so much information online about VIPKID that I was not aware of DADAABC, so thank you for sharing and being objective and real in your presentation:)

Hi Elena ! I’m actually a pre- kinder teacher and interested in online teaching . I’m 7 months pregnant and would like to stay home and work from home . I’m trying to replace my teaching income but afraid of not replacing my whole income . Can you do more than 15 hours a day ? Are you still a teacher and doing qkids at the same time ?

I work for VIPKID. DadaABC sounds great! I love VIPKID too. Don't be fooled by the videos about VIPKID. Also, I am grouped for all ages and for special courses. Only some teachers get grouped. After you teach a certain number of classes you can request a different level(s) if you did get grouped. I know a lot of teachers who work for both. They are not fully booked with DaDaABC. As with VIPKID it depends on the teacher. Many new teachers at VIPKID are not fully booked, some are. I have always been booked.. Glad to know that there are options, God video!

I have had a horrible time getting them to accept my uploaded documents. For example, they said my DL wasn't proof of my nationality.... I told her in the interview I did not have a passport and she asked if I had a DL that would work fine. Apparently not. Also, they are saying my diploma is not proof of my degree even though it is clearly stated. Any helpful ideas on what to send instead?

You can work other companies with DaDa. If you can figure out a way to juggle multiple schedules, then what you do is your business. You're an independent contractor for most of these companies-- a freelancer-- so you can freelance till your heart's content, with whomever, as long as you can hit whatever minimum working requirements they have

Just curious, how does the pay compare?
@ElenaIBMStorage
@ElenaIBMStorage 6 жыл бұрын
They are comparable, I was offered a higher base rate at DadaABC but there are so many ways to make bonuses at VIPKID I might have actually made more there -- and when I say more maybe $1or 2 an hour more -- but I think this might level out since you are paid at Dada for your contracted hours even if you aren't working. They are really similar companies that's why I think ultimately its a culture choice. Its about deciding what company suits you better! Its a wonderful fun job and I personally LOVE working for DADA!!!

Hi Elena do u have any trouble getting paid on time? Also for your schedule is it set for your whole contract or are u able to change your schedule and take off days if your going’s on vacation. I’m with vipkid now it I want to switch companies
@ElenaIBMStorage
@ElenaIBMStorage 6 жыл бұрын
I have always been paid on time or early. The schedule it set. You can change it but it takes 20 days. You can take two days off here or there with no penalty. If you want more time off than two days in a week they deduct 10% of your wage for the month. Its easy to travel with a computer and work on vacation for a couple of hours a day if that suites you. Also you can be strategic and plan a long vacation between contracts.

Sounds very west coast. CA, WA, etc. AZ is 3 am all year (which is where I am), which means she would have 3 am 1/2 the year and 2 am the other 1/2 the year with the time change, because Beijing doesn't do daylight savings.

@jasonharrington5200

I work for DaDa. I still haven't requested time off, but I generally get the feeling that it's going to be a battle to get more than a couple days off. What I see DaDa always suggesting is that teachers should try to take their laptops with them on vacation and work during it, which kind of defeats the purpose of a vacation. The other guaranteed option is to plan your vacation for right when your 6-month or 1-year contract ends, then tell DaDa you want to sign a new contract for after you return from your vacation, however long it may be, and begin working the new contract when you return. I'm currently planning to move to China, which will require me to return to the USA from my current base of Colombia, then do all my visa application stuff there, which will take at least 6 weeks, then fly to China. I'm not planning on asking for more than 2 days off for any of this stuff. Then I am going to go on a vacation to Egypt in October. Again, the most I'll request off for Egypt is 2 days

You can take time off! You need to book it 20 days in advance, so that they can reschedule your regular students. Otherwise you can take 2 days off a month without penalty. I work 5 days a week, so once a month I take the 2 extra days off to give me 4 consecutive days off

18-24 -- they offered me 19 and i countered to get 20 -- i have years of teaching experience and a masters in teaching...so its similar but a little less than VIPKID they offered 17 an hour but more bonuses that i could have made over 20 -- however just so you know i just resigned...the hours were literally killing me -- i live on the west coast so it was just too early...i LOVED the job LOVED it and already miss it -- but i could barely exist during the day to take care of my son...the only other thing i could say was that once you create your schedule you are locked in for your contract time unless you change it and that takes 30 days...whereas at VIPKID you can change your schedule weekly...so if you burn out you can take a break...but of course consistency is better for students so you would probably want to keep a semi regular schedule anyways...anyhow that was way more than you asked about but i thought i would share all i know so you could make the best decision for your lifestyle

Hi Elena, I followed your link to apply to DaDa, was hired, and this is my second week. I also work for VIPKID. I have several questions about DaDa procedures, especially class assessments. I leave thorough, and kind, assessments, with appropriate homework, one of which they have as "NOT APPROVED' on "NO PAY'", but they don't state why it wasn't approved and there seems to be no way for me to edit or change it. It's a regular student, and I'm upset that the parents won't receive the assessment now. I'm having trouble getting answers from the office, and I don't have a coordinator yet. Do they have a specific template I should use for assessments? If so, I haven't seen it anywhere. Is there any way I can get in touch with you to talk about some of these concerns? Your videos are awesome, and I like DaDa, but so far I'm finding DaDa MIA when it comes to communication and clarity!! --Jane

I've been with Dada for 3 months. To the best of my knowledge, the NO PAY and NOT APPROVED things are almost never anything to worry about. As long as you submit a halfway-decent assessment, that isn't like 20 words long, then it will eventually be accepted and you will get paid, whenever the staff gets to reviewing everything

You will get a separate message in the Notices tab that will explain why it is Not Approved. Usually it is because the comments are too short or the homework is missing.
@jasonharrington5200
@jasonharrington5200 6 жыл бұрын
Yep. The only time I get Not Apporveds is when I accidentally click "Submit" with the comments after I'm done with a class, instead of "Save." I always just leave the comments blank and click save after classes and then go back and fill out the comment later, because as we know, you usually only have a minute and a half to get from one class to the next
