Great video and comments! I concur with all of them -- I've used my RM2 for months now and enjoy the fact that it is easy to use and is distraction-free. Additionally, the use of simple (and very affordable) templates makes capturing any type of information easy -- I even use it to sketch projects and details with for architecture -- I highly recommend the RM2 ! Cheers!

Thank you for the video! I used to use my rM2 quite often until I got the Tab S7+ followed rapidly by the Z Fold 3. Distractions set aside, I enjoy the s-pen feel and writing experience along with the fact that these notes synchronize and are editable at least on Samsung devices. The rM2 app does let you read your notes on all devices. For me I think it comes down to having the Z Fold 3 with me all the time, that's made it my go-to note taking device.
@AlexSamuels2 жыл бұрын
I love my z fold 3 and the sync with the Tab s7+ is excellent. And for a while it was, like you, my go to setup. But the remarkable app as you say for android makes it good to read Remarkable notes on and I have just found myself using the RM2 more and more again which is what prompted this video. I love the sound of your setup btw 👍.

Interesting fact…as it’s Wacom based (as is the Scribe), you can use the S-Pen on the Scribe and rM2

I am pretty sorry, if I come a bit late into this long conversation. I have been exactly longing for such a device like this. Simply digital note-taker, pdf reader and that's it. Now, since I am just getting to know about this device, would you still recommend it in 2024? Do we expect a better, newer edition of either this or any other e-ink simple to-the-point device? Thanks a lot!

Roberto, your are absolutely right and in creating this video I was actually surprised how many tablets I just had around 🙈. But if I was going for the best do it all in one writing device it would be the tab s8. The size is even better than the tab s8 Ultra for portability. I just have so many devices that the tab s8 ultra was something different. I hope you continue to get a lot of productive use out of it. Thank you as ever for taking the time to speak and comment 👍, very much appreciated. And thank you for your kind words.

Just curious about the Connect features. I don’t mind the $7/m but it seem odd that it required a monthly subscription. If I don’t get Connect, does this means I can take notes but can’t save it on the device? Or email myself? I’m looking to buy this for my workers to take notes for my business, but this Connect subscription is odd.
@AlexSamuels2 жыл бұрын
So it is a bit odd, just a business decision to make additional revenue, one that seems to have worked as people still keep buying the device. However, the device will work fine without the subscription to answer the question. You can't e-mail notes to yourself (I have never done that anyway), and you lose access to things like handwriting conversion, but for 99% of what you need, it will work fine without. One of my team members uses his (used to be mine) RM1 day in and day out, and having a focused device that you can rely on to buy for your workers seems like a good idea to me. You get 100 days of Connect free anyway, so you can see if you need it, and you can turn it on and off because there is no commitment. I hope that helps.

Another great video, Alex. Question: Does the RM2 have a feature like the SN Digest functionality? I convert my ebooks to EPUB and take notes using Digest. I love how I can then make notes on why I highlighted something and have a separate summary doc. I just wish I could convert the handwritten notes in Digest to text and export for a pull into Obsidian...

Thanks Steve, unfortunately not as far as I know. It's one of those frustrations of simplicity 🙈

What cover would you recommend? I have the original, leather cover, but I find myself taking it out every time I use it. Would the Folio Cover be worth the pricetag?
@AlexSamuels2 жыл бұрын
Hi André, it’s a great question and I would say stick with the leather cover and take it out. I had the folio cover with the original Remarkable and it’s just not as easy to get in and out as the leather cover is. IMHO, I would stick with what you have, unless it’s causing any particular issues that you think the folio cover would fix. Just, think of it as a posh folio that uses magnets 👍. Hope that helps 😊

Is it possible to translate words if you are reading a book or article on there in another language?
@AlexSamuels Жыл бұрын
Hi Lynda, unfortunately, it's not, and the Remarkable is not the best device for reading versus writing anyway. I'm not 100% sure because translation is not something I do, but I think Kindles can do it 🤔. I hope that helps 👍.

I have the Supernote A5X but I also just bought the Remarkable 2. I have never been more eager to journal in my life than when I got my Supernote. I can’t wait to get my RM2 and want your opinion on what you feel are the advantages. I find the kindle app to be a non-starter as I already own a Kindle. How do you organize your notes?
@AlexSamuels2 жыл бұрын
Great question Brian, I prefer to write with the RM2 the feel mostly. But also the size difference the A5X I think is just not big enough its more or a note taker rather than an imersive writer. Re organising it just feels so much more intuitive and I just create folders and sometimes folders withn folders. You can now use tags but I don't. I hope you find it as much of an upgrade over the A5X as I did 👍

@@christopherstaal6849 so for a long time I used the "best self" physical journal. It was good but not quite right. @AlexSamuels2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jack, I'm not sure you should 🤔. Great, question BTW 😊. The features your paying for are: Unlimited cloud storage Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive integration Handwriting conversion Screen Share Send by email 36-month extended warranty You might want the extended warranty but it seems expensive. The only one I use is the unlimited cloud storage, but you can get that for less in connect lite. Honestly, I think a lot of people can get away without a connect subscription. Also remember that you are not tied in so you can cancel and then resubscribe if that helps. I'm interested to know what you decide to do.
@GordonTillmanTexas2 жыл бұрын
Jack I'm grandfathered in so I don't need to pay the subscription fee. However I've done a bunch of experimenting using the RM2 w/no subscription-related services and it works quite well. You can plug in a USB C-to-C cable between your laptop and the RM2 and use the nice web interface to download PDF exports of your notes. Once you have them on your laptop, you can use open-source tools to OCR them. You can also put your PDF's in Google Drive. Once in Drive, you can right-click on them and select "Open with Google Docs." Google will OCR the text from your PDF into a Google Doc file. Also and again with the USB C-to-C cable plugged in, you can make backups of all of your notes in native format to your laptop via the "scp" (secure copy) command.
