Great comparison of the two canners. I love my Presto canner as well and got it in 2012.

I have 30 Vintage and New Canners including 2 Nesco that I just purchased. I rotate around depending on the load of produce/material I want to can.

Wow! I think you may have broken some kind of record! How fun that you have vintage canners. I don't have room for a big collection of canners, but canners are certainly a fun thing to collect!

I love my Nesco! I have had issues with running more than one batch consecutively. I bought another liner and that seems to have solved the problem.

Yes, you do have to let it cool down completely between batches, and having more than one canner is the best way to solve that. I now have 3 Nescos. :)

Good to know! I didn't realize that was part of my problem!

I have a Mirro 12 quart because it was smaller and lighter than my Presto stove top was, and living in a mobile home, the sink isn't the best for large canners. That is why I have my Nesco 9.5 qt electric, but as you say something could happen and then the canning process that I already started would have to wait, be refrigerated, until and new one or the part comes. The Mirro 12 qt, being smaller than the Presto, is lighter but will can seven (7) qt jars, ten (10) pint jars or thirteen (13) half pint jars at a time, just like the Presto. The Mirro is in the shed all boxed up and I can grab it any time I might want. If the grid goes down, I have a gas stove and the Mirro would be an asset.

How much does it cost to have your Nesco serviced to check that the pressure attained is working correctly?

WHERE to have the Nesco checked as well.

I became frustrated with my Nesco canner because 1 out of every 4 jars does not seal. It is always the one at approximately the four o'clock placement.
