Hey Lethal, I have been thinking about since last night and if you HAD gotten a ZL1, then we would not have had all the great install vids you have done making your car what it is. I have learned so much from them. My dealer told me that they sent their best sales personnel to a course to learn as much as they could about the 6 gens, and every time I stop at the dealership they are always grilling me about what else I know. I got the SS because I drive Sierra Nevada mountain roads and that amount of horsepower is literally unusable and 200 pounds more on the front end is not worth it. With the money saved, I can get suspension, tire, brakes and wheel upgrades which will really make the car fun. I miss not having the video system....

Need brakes? I happen to have a set of six piston CTS V calipers along with the matching 4 piston rear calipers. All you have to do is paint them your favorite color and they are ready to go! Brand new! Never been mounted! Was gonna put them on a Camaro SS but decided I'd just get a ZL1 and not have to do the work. Bought, not built! As much as I would love to work on cars those days are coming to an end and I just had to be honest with myself on how I spend my time and focus on the kids and wife!

Honestly the ZL1-1LE is the only ZL1 worth getting but it's a terrible daily, so a modded SS is a better value compared to the standard ZL1 all around.

Cesar Cordova dude the 6th gen feels so much better than the 5th gen I had. This car is truly under rated. I prefer this over my 2008gt500 also. Lethal is right, great platform. Warning though, this is not a passenger car. This is a cockpit style car and it only feels good behind drivers seat. Ive been a passenger in the front and even worse the back....hated it.

Cesar Cordova I have 6 speed manual which comes with 3:73 gears in the rear which pulls in all gears. Rev match is way cool...basically when you down shift the engine revs to match your speed so the faster you drive the louder the rev and it sounds sick man with my performance exhaust that opens up with revs or full throttle .

Not sure where you are buying a ZL1 at I just paid 60k for my ZL1, tax is tax my insurance only went up 60 bucks per 6 months. You have spent a lot of money on your car you must be getting close to 60k? Also my ZL1 is 3 years newer than your ride. Nice vids keel them up.

I have the price sheet in front of me. For the ZL1 I want out the door with tax and license including GG tax, it is $72,846

I believe its 72k but with all the bells and whistles fully loaded features like a sunroof, a red paintjob with a black stripe the gps system with the camera/recorder, different color rims, alcantara everything a bunch of features like that etc... but if you just get the base zl1 at sticker 62k it probably adds up to 66k if you get just the base model no extra add ons, anyways neither of you are wrong, and a side note i love your camaro lethal there its truly one of a kind there’s only one lethal camaro out there.

Adam Griffin I love the ZL1 as well, but at that price, customization would be less viable of an option. Especially if I wouldn't want to LOSE any performance if anything.

Not a Garage for me, customization and modding is not out of the budget and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I bought my car cash for that very reason, so that modding the car heavily wouldn't break the bank while paying a car note. The ZL1 is still a bargain IMO for what I have been able to get out of it with the mods I have been done. Pro Charger might be in my near future (F-1X) and maybe a strocker. Everybody has different budgets, and a different vision of what their project car can become. I honestly don't look down on anybody, I'm actually an Import guy from heart so I'm use to the animosity I get from the crowd that I "left", at the end of the day I can appreciate what every car enthusiast does with what they have. Life is to short to squander on what could be, go for the throat and never look back!

Adam Griffin I completely agree. I wasn't putting the ZL1 down, as I did say a run of the mill ZL1, but a personal build is another situation and yes of course I was looking at it from my budgets point of view and I'm glad we can all share our insight from our own experience. Luckily I've still got another 60 years before I even look 50 years old so I've got some progress to make as well.

but an SS is still and SS, and a ZL1 is a ZL1.The ZL1 will be a collector, and SS is worthless , but in the end , I would do the same, build it over buying it.
