Went to ambergris caye, just got back. We loved it. Snorkeling, food, people, golf carts, thinking of moving there based on how much we loved it. 100% must go especially if you want carribean feel while english speaking.
@brownboytravels3 ай бұрын
Yup but if you want anything authentic it isn’t the place for you 😉
@mstortz15 ай бұрын
It is absolutely not necessary to get a golf cart. In fact, I think the whole problem of why you didn't like your experience in San Pedro was because you did the most touristy things and didn't see any of the real people, food or culture available on the island. We just had 12 days there and while we did rent a cart for one day to go see Secret Beach. We never bothered again because there was such fantastic places all within walking distance of San Pedro town. There's so much to do in San Pedro as well, the iguana sanctuary, the art galleries, all of the different beaches and places to hang out. After traveling the world for the last 20 years, San Pedro and ambergris was one of the best experiences we've had on four different continents. The people are incredible. The food is delicious and cheap. The beaches are spectacular and open to everyone and the weather is phenomenal there. The scuba diving and snorkeling is top notch and the reefs are so healthy. It's obvious that Belize wants to keep their ecosystem strong and tourism drives most of their GDP. They are very invested in people having a great experience there.

It is a shame that you did not visit the 95% of Ambergris Caye where you can find boutique guest houses, tiki /palapa styles huts, miles of crushed coral beaches, fishing camps and plenty of peace and solitude. Those areas are not as busy as San Pedro Town and Secret Beach,and make up the majority of the island. Your video was lovely and showed much of the wildlife. Maybe try a different style of vacation next time you visit. The Mexico Rocks Marine Reserve and Bacalar Chico Marine reserve are “must do” snorkeling spots.

I actually did look around and honestly the time I have had in Caye Caulker, I don’t think this place was half as good but then again, like I said in the video, it is about your own vacation style and mine is more around wild areas and laid back vibes, private beaches and resorts are not really a huge attraction for me 😊

If you want to eat like a tourist you can spend 20 to 50 us per meal. But if you can eat like a local which means just going to all of the different small food vendors and restaurants, you can easily have a meal for $10 to $15 per person. Us and you will be stuffed. Beers are typically $2 to $4 us in a restaurant and $2 to $3 us from corner stores. Golf carts are $40 to $60 us per day, no one takes a taxi anywhere as they are all very expensive.

I think you ought do watch the video carefully, I didn’t say anything ‘amazing’ about the island, the underwater world is incredible but you can easily access it from Caye Caulker too. I stand by the fact that Ambergris Caye is overrated, overbuilt, loud and definitely not worth the money especially when you have a much better alternative just around the corner in Caye Caulker. I usually don’t mind difference of opinion but you’re one of those Karens who go all guns blazing without understanding the reasoning or knowing the full detail.

I think this review is a joke, actually. I've been going to Ambergris once or twice a year since 2019. It's a beautiful place. If it's not your cup of tea, that's fine, but this review seems to be mainly a critique of San Pedro, which is a noisy, crowded, but fun, place. If you want quiet, go north of the bridge, or south of town. Ambergris has something for everyone and the people are very welcoming. I'll be back there this coming February and I cannot wait.

First and last video i have watched from your channel. You need to do better research. For example, Shark Ray alley was originally an area where local fishermen would clean their catch prior to going back to shore. Over decades the rays and nurse sharks became dependent on the off catch and offal. You saying you don't agree with the practice is ridiculous, the covid restrictions actually almost decimated the population of resident rays and sharks.

Belize is for diving. It’s some of the best diving in the world. Divers focus on diving mostly. You can’t drink while you are on a dive trip. And we don’t have much time to sit on the beach. I did go to the Belize zoo and a few other things but mostly just spent every day diving- and then recovery from deep dives etc. I think it’s still a nice place if you are going to a resort. The weather ruined my trip as i was just cold the whole time n that was weird for me as i was in the carrib but freezing bluddy cold! Occassionally the sun came out n it was legit 'hot'! But 85% of the time, it was grey skies, cold windy, lots of rain, everyone was very short chinese looking! Everyone just looked overally scruffy! I wanted to offer them to use my shower! Its a real 'bummy' destination! Gifters, hippy kind of nomad people. Glam n booshy just do not belong here! And its really 'over expensive'! Bizzarest exp ive ever had. Food was totes unhealthy and will bore u unless u like seafood! which i dont soooooo! Lol. If u r a healthy eater, u will b effed! Needless to say belize is not a place i will b going back to! Id rather go to st lucia or the like where the air is warm, the food is as varied as u need and the people are lovely to look at and warm n friendly.

1st of all you do realize there are different seasons in Belize just like everywhere else around the world if it was raining that much then it probably was rainy season. 2nd not all of the dogs u see are strays. People let them roam free because of how safe it is here. 3rd not everyone looks scruffy. Yes there are some people that don’t have a lot of money and that just comes with the fact this is an island. You shouldn’t be looking down on someone’s finical situation, since you have no idea what struggle there going through. 4th it’s so expensive bc ppl want to be here 5th the food is def not in healthy. Everything is handmade and if freshly grown. It has less sugar and is fresh. So idk where u got that idea from 6th there are many good options u white ppl just don’t go to the right places 7th nobody cares if you don’t like seafood that’s a u problem. This island isn’t built around u and ur needs 8th the people here are friendly u prob never tried talking to them
