I remember Caye Caulker and the Lazy Lizzard from about 12 years ago. We had a great time. Best snorkling excursion we ever experienced.

We have snorkeled many places, but that blue hole and coral reef was the best. Saw a moray eel and swam over a herd of eagle rays. Many other fish, rays, sharks.. Beautiful.

We took a cruise that stopped in Belize several years ago. We ended up taking the water taxi to Caye Caulker. Spent several hours on the island and ate at the Rainbow Grill & Bar right over the water. It was one of the best days I've ever had.

My boyfriend and I went to Belize in April, loved this place, Cay Caulker was one of my favorite destinations, we stayed at Weezizes hotel, and we explored the island for about 4 days. We went scuba diving and we loved the experience. Love this video its definitely on point.

I was really excited about going in Spring of 2022 but with this Covid flare-up & major disruptions in airlines plus increased costs of tickets but most of all this mask wearing after. 1,2,3 vaccinations, especially wearing a mask outside is useless & utterly ridiculous as well as scientifically proven not to work !!!

Just returned home from Caye Caulker 17 fabulous days. Loved loved loved it ❣️ Stay at La Isla was top notch and affordable. The island itself is astoundingly naturally Beautiful. Esther's Kristy Crab is the best grilled lobster on the island outside on the reef near The Split. I felt very safe. Did see a shark at the Lazy Lizard.

As a Belizean, I don’t really enjoy going to Caye Caulker or San Pedro. It isn’t the true belizean experience, only the washed up tourist hotspots. If you are one to enjoy the beach and simply wandering around on the sand then by all means it is for you. But if you want to meet Belizeans, eat really belizean food and experience the true country, then it is better to go to the mainland. Even the mainland has places that are touristy, it is a country that relies on tourism. I appreciate your video Sir, you always do an excellent job.
@JM-jr2um3 ай бұрын
@@Antonio-xt3vy hi! Do you have recommendations for places on the mainland ? I’ve read positive things about Placencia and Hopkins but probably they’re touristic places too. And do you think a visit at the Lamanai Archaeological Reserve is worth it ? The prices for it a very high in my opinion for a backpacker aha

When you mentioned the part about the backpackers I was wondering if you would ever consider a hostel. I'm glad you mentioned your thoughts about them. I don't think I could ever stay in a hostel for the same reasons. The fetching Mrs. Wolters looked especially nice in this video.

The key is dont fly into belize City in the afternoon and get stuck for the night. Go directly from the airport to the port. Stay inside the port area which is nice and has some very good places to eat. Do not go outside the port area. Belize city isnt a place to mess around in. The islands are very nice though. Also the port is where you catch buses to other parts of belize. I went with the intention of going to Flores for tikal and working my way back from there seeing some of the maya sites in Belize. After the bus ride and asking many travelers in flores, they said go to Antigua guatamala. I did and loved it. From the bus several of the towns I went through in Belize with the sites I wanted to see were pretty bad. Many will say yeah but its doable but doable and where you really want to holiday are 2 different things. Guatamala city was another place that was unsafe. Infact both countries are more like little somewhat safe places in a sea of not so safe places. I havent gone back to lower then mexico in central America since my trip there but have been to south america and Europe 3 times each and mexico a handful of time and africa. I think that about tells you where I think my money is better spent.
@valtracy173 жыл бұрын
I think if it is daylight and you're not stupid, you can navigate some of Belize city with few or no issues. We went and walked around the city a little. There isn't anything really worth going too far into the city that's for sure. But regardless of where you travel, you have to be aware of your surroundings or your become vulnerable.
@theodoresmith52723 жыл бұрын
@@valtracy17 I always ask. I asked where I could go that evening. I was told the park next to the hotel. That was it. I also asked about walking to the port. It was maybe a mile. She said no take a cab. Just cause you get away with something 1 time doesnt make it any less dangerous. Its an odds game. You keep taking bad odds and you will lose at some point. Lets also factor in Belize and guatamala are not that cheap. For what you spend, you can be in much nicer accommodations in much nicer cities that are much cheaper. Per day Portugal, spain, the Balkans, Greece, and even Austria are comparable to the money spent and a lot nicer and safer. Almost all of south america is better bang for the buck with more to see. Take Ecuador where you can be on the Pacific Coast, go up the rain forest, cloud forest, high Andes, cloud forest, then Amazon jungle in 2 day on a bus. Plus ruins and a bunch of native cultures. Peru from seashore to incredible gorges to high Andes to cloud forest to Amazon river. Chan Chan, paracas, moche, chachacoya, inca, hauri, tawanaka, nazca, coral, and so many ruins. Modern day native americans still with old culture everywhere. Pretty safe. Great bus system. Great cheap flights in country. Places like rainbow mountain, Laguna 69 and all kinds of pretty places. Mexico is in a class all it own. Very safe in the south out side of cancun. Even central mexico is safe as is mexico City. Many pretty colonial and renaissance, native American cities and some really great nature. Palenque and Sam cristabol in the south are amazing. Go up to the beaches by merida or the Pacific coast if you like beaches. Much more mexico culture then cancun and that area.

@@valtracy17 after 5 continents and many countries only a few I felt like I did enough to say I did it and/or to many other places to go. Venezuela, Belize, guatamala, the north Africa countries I was in. Even costa rica the pearl of central America isnt that nice. I live on an island in South florida with the Bahamas 70 miles away. I loved the swimming around the belize islands. If that's your thing, its the place to be. Many people may want a more rounded holiday.
@valtracy173 жыл бұрын
@@theodoresmith5272 oh, don't get me wrong. I would never live in any of these countries. We actually researched them for retirement. We are now looking in Florida between the peninsula to the southern tip for a Catamaran to live on. Then after retirement sail to the western Caribbean. So no, living in those places is not my thing and I've traveled to those places and don't feel the need to ever go back.
