I have the S8+. I am probably at the higher end of the unlocking, too. I am 5' 7", and have average sized hands, and I don't have any trouble reaching the fingerprint scanner. It might miss once per day, at the most. The only time I feel the need to use the screen reducing gesture is when I'm using my off hand. The only time I have trouble reaching a corner is when I reach for the lower corners. Then, it gets top heavy. Put simply, I love the plus and its size. No complaints.

@charlesverg21847 жыл бұрын
BASEL HASHISH same :/
@bamajc7777 жыл бұрын
BASEL HASHISH I think the Snapdragon 835 will beat the Exynos. I saw a video earlier where the 821 in the LG G6 went up against the Samsung Exynos and the Exynos barely beat it. so if I had to bet I'd put my money on the Snapdragon 835.
@baselcrash27 жыл бұрын
I remember PhoneBuff made a video and talked about how SnapDragon in Samsung S7 was inferior to the Exynos, however he also mentioned that it had fantastic performance in other phones like the LG you're referring to, basically it's not a problem with the processor itself, but how Samsung optimizes it in their phones.
@bamajc7777 жыл бұрын
BASEL HASHISH last year the Exynos was faster than the 820 I saw the S7 edge video. but this time around I think the Snapdragon is faster. and the video I watched earlier the Exynos did a good job and managed RAM well but the 821 just kept hanging around and wouldn't go away. the Exynos won that battle but not by much. I don't think it would beat the 835.
@StopMediaFakery7 жыл бұрын
BASEL HASHISH 'Optimize' seems to be the most overused word in the smartphone world right now. The Exynos is technically superior to the SD, with it's custom large cores. The clock speed of the Exynos 8895 is 2.3 and 1.7 vs 2.35 and 1.9 on the SD 835, yet it scores higher in benchmarks. It's also more efficient. You have to remember that Samsung phones use heavy skins with a lot of features, which is bound to have some effect on performance. Regardless of which phone the Exynos 8895 is in, it would perform better than the SD 835.

I've got to say I really don't have any regrets about switching to the S8, it's been an absolutely great phone to use and it's SO nice to have such a large screen in such a small form factor compared to the iphones. it really brings me back to the days I was using the LG G2. I have the S8+ and love it. You get used to the size. I have had no issue with the finger print reader and have been using the left index finger to turn it on holding the phone in the left hand; sometimes with the right hang to stabilize the device to be on the safe side. I am using Nova Launcher for "Gestures & Inputs" so that I don't have to reach to the top of the screen to pull down the notification shade, instead I have "swipe down" for the notification shade and another swipe down for the Quick Settings and a "double tap" to sleep. Nova Launcher's folders also make it easiet for one-handed use as folders to the left of centre open to the left side of the screen, folders in the centre open in the centre and folders open to the right if on the right side of the display. This way you can put your most important apps in folders on the side of the hand you are most likely to hold the phone, in my case, on the left for easier left-handed use vs Touch Wiz which has the folder open in the centre of the display making it difficult to reach apps at the top of the folder. Using Touch Wiz makes the phone a 2-handed phone no doubt.

I weighed all this when I bought the s8+, and more. For me it came down to screen size, since I watch crunchyroll and Netflix on the go a lot. I'm very satisfied with the hardware and OS though. Its very responsive and stable. The otter box case kinda solves the finger print issue. Really only one way to get your finger over the sensor, and it rarely misreads your prints that way. My hands are messed up, so I couldn't use a phone one handed if I wanted to. So two hand holding it isn't an issue for me, no choice. Wish they put an IR beam on it. Miss using my s4 as a remote.

I haven't yet had a problem with the fingerprint scanner, or the iris scanner. I hit the power button and it's not even a sec after looking at the iris scanner that my phone is unlocked. Hell, most of the time, the scanner doesn't pop up because its so snappy. The only time it does is when im not looking directly at the phone. As far as the fingerprint scanner, it's honestly easily accessible even with me being a lefty and having smaller hands. sometimes I may have to use both hands, but I've been doing with all of my smart phones, so it's nothing new, or anything for me to complain about. Yes, I don't wear glasses, but I do wear sunglasses, but I don't think that there will be a phone that could scan your iris through dark lenses. I'm ultimately satisfied with my S8+.

I totally agree. my s8 is my first "small" smart phone since blackberry pearl. And I have loved all the big and best phones, the big note 2 all the notes plus a few other big smart phones including the v10 and v20. But this is the right choice.

I'm using S8+ and have been since 20th April. I'm being totally honest here, I actually like the placement of the fingerprint scanner if the phones in your hand at the time but if it's lying down it's so annoying having to put your pin. Overall cracking phone.

Henry Chaisritha Simple answer is no you shouldn't upgrade. s7 is still a screamer of a phone . people these days upgrade phones like pairs of socks. I have s7 edge I don't like change it, my next phone is s9

My Exynos s7edge is just as good, if not better than a snapdragon s8. Mine gets just under 2000 single core and around 6200 multi on Geekbench4. There is NO apparent difference in performance to an s8, it has a better fingerprint scanner, a larger battery and now is cheaper (if you're shopping for a phone). So yeah, an argument for 'better' can be made. I was going to upgrade to an s8, till I realised it wouldn't be an upgrade so much as avoidable unnecessary expense. If you've got an Apple or an older Samsung, sure get an s8 but if you've got an s7/edge, especially the Exynos variant, don't bother.

i love my s8! I made the right decision getting s8 over s8+. I totally agree with everything you said. the fingerprint scanner is within reach in s8 than in s8+. I also noticed (my friend has s8+) that s8+ has bigger battery because it needs to support more energy to support the phone. On my own opinion, s8+ seems to go lowbat faster than s8 in regular use. :)

I actually have the S8+. Either one you choose you are getting the best of the best. I actually went with the plus due to the a reason none has decided on. I use nova launcher on my devices and having that extra space to customize even more or add that extra fidget or two is really nice. battery is great too.

From the first time I picked up my S8+ the fingerprint scanner seemed like it was just in the perfect place. I can't understand how so many reviewers seem to think this. Maybe it is just because they have gotten used to the scanners on different phones first. The one that felt unnatural to me when I was trying them out to see which to get was the g6 because I had to pull my finger back and down. I have never used a scanner before this though.

the iris scanner is very useful not every day but when you have gloves or your hands are dirty or there is water ecc with the normal use i think the fingerprint scanner is by far better but the fact that in some situations you can use also the eyes i think is very useful

S8 is about the same size as the S7 Edge. yet it has a larger screen. I applaud your reasoning for moving to the S8. the finger sensor works well at this size.

very well outlined.. I got the S8 for these very reasons. yeah the battery is a tad bit smaller but hey, what's that desk top charger for! love the S8 for its practicality.

Just speaking for myself and how I pick up the phone the fingerprint sensor is in a natural place for me. And I have small hands. Now sure the camera is gonna get smudgy. I really don't use the camera often enough to worry about that. I gotta say going from the S5 to the S8 is pretty amazing. I never enjoyed the fingerprint sensor on s5. On the s8 it works almost magically compared to my prior phone. The only small gripe and its not a big one is no ir blaster. That was fun on the S5. The screen is pretty awesome especially with the smaller width even with an otterbox strada case. One thing I hope they may consider adding would be when you close a magnetic cover that the screen goes into standby as well. I think that would be a nice touch. Now I do hope the screen lasts as long as the s5 did for me. These curved screens worry me about breakage a bit.

Simply forget about the one handed usability thing and go for the S8+. It is still the better device thanks to the larger battery and massive screen size for content consumption/media streaming/gaming. Also the argument about the phone being larger and heavier to hold while watching videos doesn't apply to me who uses a case that has a stand built in.

I went with the S8 too. The S8 (non +) screen was larger than my iPhone 7 Plus in a smaller and lighter footprint. I'm loving my S8 and my pockets are glad I didn't go with the +.

I'm a big guy with big hands and I bought the S8 plus. Coming from the Moto X 1st gen, I think I should have gotten the regular S8. The only benefit of the S8+, for me personally, is when I'm playing co-op games with my son; then the larger screen shines.
@simon2k47 жыл бұрын
I went for the S8 because it's been the most comfortable phone to hold in my hand since I briefly had an iPhone 6 which I bought back then because of how nice it felt in the hand but ended up selling it and switching back to Samsung because I hate iOS. The S6 edge and S7 edge were both uncomfortable to hold and I used to drop them as a result. I have never dropped the S8 once and I have had it since it was released! As I bought this phone, it's now my upgrade date on my contract and I'm thinking of upgrading to another S8 to get the blue colour which is the one I really wanted in the first place but wasn't available at launch in the UK. 😁

Still good with the oneplus 3t. That Bixby button and the finger print reader are pretty bad missteps from a company that should know better at this point.

I ended up going with the regular S8, And damn is it gorgeous. I wish Samsung would make a "compact" edition of the S8, maybe around the size of the iPhone SE, so that it would be more comfortable to use while still having an incredible screen.
@technomys33697 жыл бұрын
yes i have the same opinion as you do. the idea of 80% screen to body ratio is to have a bigger screen on a small phone, where samsung is very much successful when it comes to s8 but not the case with s8+ which is way taller that its even beats the chunky iphone 7+
@fashionmaverick17 жыл бұрын
I'm in love with the S8+ because the screen realestate is SPECTACULAR! Tbh I wish it was larger and I'm looking forward to the Note 8 bcuz I'm missing my Spen and that fact the screen will be larger, along with possible dual rear cameras and embedded fingerprint scanner on the front. I enjoy your channel and thanks for expressing your true opinion abt thd S8 and S8+

I've had my s8+ for 3 weeks now and I never had a problem with the irisscanner. it worked every sigle time without having to change my direction because of the sun or the darkness. not gonna lie the fingerprint scanner is hard to reach but the irisscanner definitely replaced it for me.

I went to a rogers kiosk in my local mall. Honestly, the regular S8 looked so much smaller in person despite having a screen that sounds big on paper and spec sheet. It's so small and so narrow that it honestly feel like my IPhone 5S, that I still have in my hand. It feels like a 5 inch phone to me even with the big screen. Sadly the demo phone was unable to turn on but it was the real phone. It wasn't plastic gimmick. Also the finger print scanner was easy to reach, still might smudge the camera lens, but easier than the S8 plus. Other than that, everything felt very nice beside that clunky wire attacher that connects the desk to the phone. I guess the real concern is battery life, since the S8 plus has 500 mAH more than the S8. But really most tests shown on KZbin shows that the S8 plus really just beats the S8 and S7 Edge by just a few percent like 1-7 percent. So battery is honestly to me not that much different between the two despite the S8 plus having a bigger battery. So really if you want to save money, and don't mind a smaller screen, get the S8. Battery isn't that much different. And if you're a small phone user, perhaps coming from the IPhone 5s like me, the S8 should surprise you. It actually feels very narrow, it really just feels like the classic IPhone SE, 5s, 5 and so on.
