I believe you - and was kind of expecting this kind of comment. I would feel kinda like I was betraying Things3 if I were to jump ship. Since Things3 is not a subscription like Todoist, I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Anyway, thanks for the warning.

@@IMMERSIVEVOICEAgree. I’ve been using it for a year or so, and only recently did I figured out how to use it properly. And I really appreciate the developers for keeping it simple as it is

Tried out Superlist and while its got a ton of potential, coming from things it lacks some major features and I doubt anyone that has used things prior will be satisfied. You cannot filter your tasks so you only see a certain area/tag. You have due dates but you can't schedule when to start tasks. Sub tasks don't automatically have the same tags/ lists as the original tasks. Just really an unfinished product and not nearly ready to be put out. Oh I forgot to mention, the shortcuts are horrible and you have to use your mouse for basically everything while scheduling tasks.

It looks great, but is it ready for prime time? Some of the reviews mention its unreliability and glitchiness. Let us know how it goes!

The first release had a bug where the letter ‘T’ wouldn’t work…but as I say the devs are ramping up the features at a rate of knots (the ‘T’ issue was fixed pretty quickly)! I haven’t had any of the syncing issues that I’ve read about so I didn’t refer to them in this video.

I absolutely love things three and I do not understand why other task managers do not adopt the main things that make things great. Start dates, deadlines, areas of focus where single actions are also contained and a someday category. Extremely frustrated with the lack of development now and looking for alternatives, I could suffer through Apple reminders for collaboration, but the lack of a someday category or the ability to tag or flag entire projects (lists) sucks As Id need to use it for our small business and personal along with collaborating.

It’s odd isn’t it. Things3 is all about speed and simplicity. This stuff doesn’t need overcomplicating.

Excellent presentation. I'm very much an analog, bullet-journal fine stationery type of gal, but once in a while I dive deep into the world of prod. apps and it is overwhelming. I have Routine, Todist, Ticktick now, but my interest in them drops off and before I know it I've forgotten all about using them. I think it's far more important to actually be productive with one or two apps, then to constantly be searching for apps, setting them up with the realization that you've wasted loads of time on that. There's a guilt that sets in. You had me at free. The ability to switch off personal and work tasks. Absolutely brilliant. I've never seen that. I know some people love to be able to have everything, all worlds in one place, from work to business to ideas and aspirational to business to family, but not me. I want to have the division between work/business and personal. Thanks!

Glad you liked it Michelle- and totally agree it’s about using something you trust rather than ‘productive procrastination’. I didn’t mention this in the video but I’ve been combining this and the Ugmonk Analogue Weekly which sits at my desk. Superlist and the Ugmonk kit is a great setup.

Another excellent video Mark. Well produced and edited (as always) but most importantly it was most informative. I’ve been dabbling with Superlist over the last two days and believe it could the “Neo” of productivity. Notion is too heavy my needs, Todoist is fantastic but lacks the depth of Superlist. Going to give Superlist a proper test drive at work (currently waiting for IT to allow one of the integrations to work) this week.

Superlist is now on my radar, thank you 🙂. My only beef is pricing is not the best argument. Things 3 has an upfront cost, yes. But if you compared any other to do app that has a monthly cost, let’s say at $5 a month, in two years you will have paid more for the monthly subscription app than Things 3.

It's hard to trust products of developers that sell their products while we stick to it like stupids, and put all our info and todo list, basically life management to it. What is the guarantee that they won't sell superlist to someone else tomorrow?
@ThatMarkGilroy4 ай бұрын
I know. Best we can do when you find a tool you like is spread the risk without it affecting your day to day too much. I used to have everything in Notion (and I do mean everything) and now I’m much more discerning about what I put and where.

How long before they sell again and what happens then to your info?

I had high hopes for it but oh man, it’s nowhere near Things3. Yes it’s beautiful. Usable and intuitive? Absolutely not. Almost for everything you need to click a mouse rather than shortcuts. iOS is another story - opening a task by swiping? Reinventing the wheel might not be the best idea for intuitivity here. I’ll keep my eyes on it, but seeing thay they already work on AI rather than fixing fundamental UX problems I have doubts there.

The only thing that Things could use, is the possibilities to change tasks in notes and vice versa... but superlist is not cheap at all for 8 euros a month you have a pro subscription In four years you could buy things 4 times. There are so many things things 3 can do Superlist can't... I really don't understand why you have changed. And saying things 3 is expensive is a not really true... things 3 is not a subscription model... I know it is dying out... but therefore it is worth it. When you buy things y ou are not a beta tester.... in any way.
@ThatMarkGilroy15 күн бұрын
Fair point. But there's a lot more missing in Things3 that I'd love to see. The ability to auto-set certain tasks to appear as 'evening' tasks, adding files/notes to tasks, I could go on. It's VERY fast and Things3 sync is unmatched though.
