WHY I DON'T LOVE THE LOUIS VUITTON X MURAKAMI COLLECTION! SPEEDY 30 BLACK MULTICOLOUR IS ANNOYING!

I had no problem getting my items and I love them. There were flaws on the original collection and there are falws on the new one as well. Here is what I have identified so far: 1. The hardware on the corner on the Speedy 25/30 is only fastened in one spot. In the old collection it was fastened in two places. I think the new ones will become wobbly and might not look good after a while. 2. The zipper pull on all the bags where you have the small rings on the zipper for the lock are designed wrong. The zipper pulls doesn’t fit over the rings and hence stick out. The zipper pulls on e.g. a regular Alma BB will fit over the rings and lie flat. 3. The straps on many of the bags, including the Alma BB and the Speedy’s are not adjustable and too short to wear crossbody for tall people. For these prices we should at least get adjustable straps! Come on LV! This is too cheap!

I'm 1.60m and can confirm that the alma bb strap is too short even on me to wear crossbody😢 lv had me looking at additional adjustable strap to buy but even that one is sold out

The packaging did not bother me as much, but only influencers got the special Murakami dust bags and they look so much nicer than the usual dust bags every normal customer got. That did make me feel I am not the customer they want anyway so why bother.

It could be Louis vuttion is not supplying all of the packaging to there customers in order to reduce the second hand on sale of these bags. Considering this is a second realise , the customers who have everything from the bag , packaging , boxes , ribbon, cards , tissue are going to get there price ❤ at the consignment shop 😊 or web sales . I think this bag is beautiful and if I could afford one , I would never sell❤

My SA told me that pieces that come online or can be bought in store are returns. And tbh that made me angry as I am still waiting for my Speedy 25 that I ordered on the 3rd of January. LV keeps my money with no feedback on when will I get it. But I think I will cancel my Murakami order as I finally got offered the same gorgeous Speedy P9 you have. And to me personally, Murakami collection just cannot be compared to P9 :)

Hi Deb, I also do not think this is a marketing ploy. I have heard that LV received over a million preorders & orders but they had only planned on making a few hundred thousand pieces. It’s not like LV to leave money on the table. LV was badly burned last year with the ill received Kusama launch so I believe that they think this Murakami might have some interest but they were not prepared or expected this level of interest. If you remember, the Kusama launch received much more fanfare with more special art displays all over the world. Murakami did not get the same level of fanfare at least on the store level. I have a speedy 25 but I’m short & I don’t mind the strap length as I carry it either as a top handle or shoulder bag but it does sit too high as a cross body. I do love my speedy 25 to bits though.

Yes I agree. LV went all out for Kusama - stores being fully decorated etc and it wasn't the success they hoped. They have therefore been more cautious this time with the roll out - but they should know approx order levels vs potential stock availability and production so they did get it very wrong!

The speedy soft is a different type of speedy from the others that you have. It's meant to hold its shape more due to the leather interior.

Hi Deb, You could also use your navy Coussin PM strap for travel. I use a lot of replacement straps from Amazon with my LVs. The quality is amazing. ☺️

I have said this before, LV shouldn’t have used influencers to advertise this collection, when they receive a better experience than actual paying customers. It’s sad that people out there would have really enjoyed the experience of a purchasing piece of this collection, more than an influencer that I observed did on KZbin. I agree with everything you said! The lack of custom packaging is really poor (it seemed like there was a ton of it for the Kusama collection), but it wouldn’t stop me from buying now or in the future. I think the whole launch was poorly planned, and hope they’ll get the next one right. That’s a shame about the straps. I feel as though LV typically does a good job with that element.

Hi Deb! Great honest review of your gorgeous bag. I’m currently waiting on fulfillment of my order for the speedy 30 dark…. Hope it’s a win… regarding the murakami collection, I placed an order for 3 slg‘s on the day of the launch in store with my client advisor. All three were paid in full. One has been received and the other two remain in limbo being labeled as “pending order validation”. Both my ca and LV client services have told me they feel confident the orders will still be fulfilled, but I’m not so sure. I was told that IF the order couldn’t be fulfilled I would be contacted that the order was cancelled and receive at refund. Sure is a crazy way to treat customers by having them pay, wait an undetermined amount of time while having charged them, just for a “we’ll see what happens”. So the wait continues…

I have a black speedy 30 from the original/vintage MC collection and I have to say that it does slouch quite a bit. I am not sure if this new launch has a different type of canvas that doesn’t slouch as much, but I would have thought that the “soft” description on the new launch would have been equivalent to more slouch.

Cancelling people's orders would annoy people but in the meantime, LV has made money in interest payments on their deposits. People shouldn't be annoyed with a cancelled order because they agreed to the terms and conditions put in place by LV.

Hi Barb, your bag is stunning. That is quite strange that the straps are different for the white and black speedy. I was able to get the black key pouch and black Pochette Assessoires and I did find a black strap with silver hardware to make my Pochette hang crossbody. I checked my packaging and for both I received the Murakami ribbon and a panda tag. I was grateful to get these pieces, but it would be nice if LV treated all of their customers more equitably. That is disappointing.

I have exact same bag and the only thing I have a complaint about is the stench that comes from the inside. You’d assume it will smell like nice leather but alas, it smells like cheap plastic shoe glue. Does yours have the same problem?!

Oh wow, I didn't see that about the strap on the 25! That would be a dealbreaker for me. I'm short-waisted and need an adjustable strap. Plus I actually prefer to wear Speedies as shoulder bags! The strap on yours is a great length! I was wondering about how comfortable the rolled strap would be vs a flat one, so glad to hear it's actually comfy. I think your bag will soften and slouch and will look so, so good on the shoulder!

All the CA’s that I spoke with wanted me to preorder on release day which I refused. I was in line on opening day and I left the store with nothing. Online was a mess and I knew to only purchase from a store that I had my handbag in stock. There is so much hype on the Speedy 25 but to be honest I’m loving my side trunk with the buttery leather from the Murakami collection. I could not find the black Speedy 30 that I’m paying a little extra from a consigner. That bag is a beauty but let’s remember it’s canvas and a little too big to carry crossbody in my opinion which is why I love my side trunk. I also have the white multicolor sneakers and black scarf.

My order made online day of launch came without the tissue paper. I was disappointed as I was going to use it for some wall art. I don't think I'll bother with future hyped collections, but it's not completely put me off LV. Its lowered my repsect for them as a brand though.

I agree with you on the speedy 30. I added a black strap to wear crossbody, and I still have stickers on the hardware. I love my multicolor, but it's boxy and stiff. I think we are used to carrying the speedy p9s. I have the p9 40 and I am used to that bag. 😂 I have to remind myself that Murakami is not a P9. Im spoiled now!

The capacity of the Speedy is great and it's the best shape for practical use IMO. The 30 is my ideal size. I haven't got my Murakami pieces but only because I didn't order any!
