I've read not only do they charge you a fee for the restaurant, and a fee for the service, and a delivery fee and taxes, and THEN expect you to tip, many of them actually raise the price of the food another 10-30% if you buy it through their service. That's why buying like two combos that should be $15 ends up being a ridiculous $40.

They do their job ask you for your order and bring you the food and thats it. Refills, additional orders, questions etc you pretty much have to flag someone down. Yeah, people don't realize that it's a super dangerous and demanding job and, like all service jobs, highly underpaid. Like the disgus that left the first response, the consumer only adds to the exploitive nature of such positions without contributing to the solutions by not rarionalizing the position such workers face day in and day out. Judging by his sn, he's probably some socially inept dweeb that thinks he can code but is really just a brogrammer through and through. I am thankful that I am not longer in food service but, stg, I appreciate what any food service worker does (as someone who still uses such services frequently) because they could up and leave and go work retail. Then watch all these losers cry about how they can't get a meal quickly or correctly- can't win with some people.
@@RedRosemary uhhh... nobody made a specific reference to doordash. You are aware that there are pizza delivery guys and Chinese delivery guys, doordash is only one service that exists out of several? Idk what you're getting at but it's stupid.

as an ex food service employee that did exclusively customer service side jobs where I would be the one working for tips, tips are bullshit, they often get split with the kitchen and others when the service side are the ones being judged on their performance, and the service side is often (almost always even at high end restaurants) paid MUCH less than a livable wage BECAUSE of tips, in short please don't tip, it's some bullshit through and through and ya'll employers, food service or no, should be paying your employees livable wages at LEAST (for the area too, so no livable wage average to weasel your way into minimum payment)

One time I went to this Korean restaurant and gave 10 percent tip (service wasn't bad but it wasn't great; there was only 1 other person in the restaurant not counting my table) when the server saw what I gave she acted like I had stole from her and was telling me 18 percent was recommended. Never went there again.

@locoghoul3 жыл бұрын
@@grayrom there is nothing apparently wrong but if you think about it it takes away the responsibility away from the actual employer. Google Sonic staff quits over $4/h wage. They wanted tips to cover for the rest of their wage lmao. People often say "they aren't paid enough!" Which I am not disagreeing with. But instead of collectively chipping in, and in a very inconsistent way, how come they can't get proper wages and benefits like other jobs? There are several countries were tipping is not a thing, and the employees still make a decent living, so is not like we NEED tipping. Is just easier to shame those who actually support the business than the employer who is supposed to be RESPONSIBLE for paying employees a fair wage. The pandemic has shown that whatever covid relief people were getting, it was preferable to working and getting paid at this places. Not to mention is a consistent income, even if only temporary.
