Did you plan on teaching? I've only heard of one such person with a Graphic Design Masters Degree, and she had obtained that later, along with an Education Degree because she wanted to teach after working about 15 years in the field...

No i did not plan on teaching i just felt like an imposter without a degree in graphic design as my BA was in marketing but turns out that wasn't the route for me 😊

I was close to dropping out or moving uni but ended up staying because it was easier than transferring. My issues were more personal, I had a breakdown after someone spread false rumours about me and I was just surviving my first year. I'm in my second year and regretting it, although I think I'm at least learning stuff even though I'm not enjoying the workload. I am definitely not doing a masters.

Im so sorry about your experience! Maybe rethink of transferring if your experience is still bad as honestly a BA is all about having a nice once-in-a-lifetime experience and at least you are learning but maybe start looking at jobs too if you arent sure on continuing as you will learn more on the job or even youtube & online classes!

@@KamiAlicja I enquired but they seemed to want me to repeat a year. I decided it wasn’t worth it. I may take a gap year to avoid the people who had caused these problems for me, but I may consider a masters in my home city.

@@TinasWomenSelfLove I'm so sorry to hear that, that's disgusting behaviour. Did the uni/college not do anything? Try and transfer if you and and don't let them win. I left it later than I should have, now I'm looking at repeating a year elsewhere. They were trying too hard to bury the bullying and rumours against me and didn't take them seriously until I retaliated. I am now full of regret and fed up waiting.

@@JohnDeBrazen I just talked to international student center and dropped out of the course, the school headteacher said they would talk to them , but I think they just think I am making a fuss about it, I don't like they attitude they handle this situation, so I end the course and asked for full refund, I can learn graphic design online anyway.

I think the course was misleading as the actual syllabus sounded very interesting but the teaching and methods were not up to standard especially for a masters level it felt very beginner and very much like an fine art degree which design isn't. But the university you will go to may be different i heard both positive and negative opinions about graphic design at university level! If you are interested in going into university for experience then i recommend it however if i could go back i wouldn't go to university at all and begin my self taught journey then and i believe i would be 4 years ahead than i am now!

If i found my way to graphic design earlier i would have earned more so without any degree as right now i have a marketing BA degree. So naturally more experience = more money. I think because i wasted some time doing parts of the masters i am earning less because less agency experience so if i pursued the masters fully that would be again more time wasted = less money! A degree and / or a masters looks great on paper but it is only a very small part of your CV and the most important is your portfolio and experience so id say focus on that! The faster you get experience the faster you will earn more so in 3/4 years time you will be at around a senior or high level where as the university student will just come out with their degree starting at a junior level which will be a massive wage gap because of experience! Although you could also do some part time work during your studies which is also a great option as universities usually offer tons of opportunities for internships but usually means unpaid

Yes you can! I came from a marketing degree into a graphic design masters as long as your portfolio fits the universities needs then you should be fine! But i know some universities only accept creative fields for creative masters only so worth looking into your specific university to see if you can

My bachelor's degree was in marketing so unrelated to graphic design. But yes i got a job without a degree in design.

@@KamiAlicja that's hopeful. Because I have a bachelor's in psychology and a master's in pastoral care and lol I wanna switch over to graphic design too haha.
