My father has been my hunting partner for over 40 years, his battle with Alzheimer's has prevented him form hunting with me this year. Your video was able to put my feelings into words. I hunt that smell each time I enter the river bottom where he and I have hunted for years. Thank you Gman! It does my heart good to know that there are others out there hunting the "smell" of a memory to relive it one more time.

I get you 1000%. There's more to things than just the hunt or just fishing.. it's the memories you made with that person, your chasing. My father passed 8 years on the 14th of December. And I think of him every day. Every labor day weekend I head north 4 hours to fish the Menomonie River, a place that my father always brought me too. Mikey's Spot... and every time I pull the trigger on a hunt, he's riding the bullet to its destination. Because his ashes are mixed into the gun powder I use. He's with me ALWAYS... you'll never stop looking for the smell. I know... God Bless you for keeping him alive... Memories....

You explained that perfectly. I've said this many times in my life from experiences I have from a young man. These smells bring you back to a time period that you'll never forget and at times it may bring tears to your eyes. Not bad one but one's that have been missed that you'll never forget. I hope you get your smell on this trip. Thank you for doing video's like this. Your truly a special person and we all love hearing your stories.

This really hits home for me. I suddenly lost my Dad on September 25th of this year. And I have these moments just about every day. It may not be a smell that brings me back. Maybe a song, something I see on the side of the road while driving or a something that happens in the Astros or Cowboys game that makes me want to text him. But its always something that brings his memory back. And I know that the hurt is still fresh but I hope and pray that I never lose these thoughts of him. This weekend it was while deer hunting in South Texas and the fog bank that blew in on Sunday morning. Brought me back to sitting in our duck blind on Caddo Lake. My God I miss him. 😢😢

Oh my God, I thought I was sort of not all there for so long because there were certain special times, generally associated with hunting, hiking, fishing or some sort of outside activity, that a certain smell would be associated with a moment of good memory. I would always look for that or hope to expect it when I would do similar activities. Never mentioned it to anyone, mostly because I thought they would not understand or think I was a little wacked. Thank you.
