Start small and be kind to yourself in art. Let it heal and be a release for you. Do not hold yourself to perfection Play with no expectations. I wish for you the joy of art making to release your mind from its demons.

Hello, I too had to leave teaching in 2018 due to burnout, anxiety, and health issues. It's taken me 5 years to get myself back on track, however I'm no longer working. Now at the lovely age of 45, I'm trying to learn how to do art, I'd like to learn how to draw and do watercolor paintings and eventually digital art. Thank you for sharing your story, it makes me feel like I'm not the only one that has struggled like this.

Thank you so much for this video not only for showing us a crazy variety of art supplies, but for opening your heart. It's so easy sometimes for us to forget that the person across the screen is a human being with struggles of their own. I'm so proud of you for continuing to move forward and continuing to dream. With all my heart, I hope that you can achieve everything you set out to do and more 💖🌈 Also, I'd love some vlog style videos just chit chatting while drawing, I feel like it would be great for mirroring and motivation to draw alongside 🥰 Looking forward to whenever you come back with a new video, as always ✨🌷

It's so important to get all this stuff off your chest. I'm glad you did it in this video. It seems like you have all these lovely supplies to go forward and pursue your art. I have add, and a tendency toward depression. I also was a teacher, but due to my add and migraine that became chronic I had to stop working. That was almost 5 years ago and I'm still struggling. I'm very impressed you've gone back to work, even just part time. It's great. Be very proud of how far you've come! Oh and having (had) pets that are like my babies I completely understand your pain losing your cat. Big cuddles from mine to you 🥰

Awww migrainessss my biggest enemy! Stress would provoke them and being in a loud and bright environment was absolutely the worst when I had them so a loud and bright classroom was the worst environment to be in. I am sorry you suffer from them and the other conditions too. It is so hard because people who aren’t chronically ill or have neurodivergent brains don’t quite understand what we go through on a daily basis. But I hope you’re doing better now that you don’t have the stress of teaching, I know that helped me a lot but it was a super hard decision because financially now we’re not in the best place but I am hoping we will be able to find a balance eventually. All the best to you and here’s to having more good days than bad (that’s what I try to kook forward to) ❤

Thanks for honestly and openly sharing your struggles. I live with chronic illness, pain, depression, and anxiety. Recently, I became very overwhelmed by all of the art supplies that companies were sending me to review in my videos. What I ended up doing was just taking one item at a time, swatching it out and painting or drawing with it. I filmed each session and posted once a week. Perhaps if you just take one item from your art supplies a week to explore and experiment with you would enjoy the experience and not feel overwhelmed like I did. Wishing you many hours of joyful creating with your lovely supplies! 💕👩‍🎨🎨🖌️

Same here all.of.the.things 🫠 sadly a lot of them come hand in hand and make the others worse so it sucks because you never know when you’re going to have a good or bad day. I’m currently having a migraine attack I haven’t had one in a while and it’s so horrible when they sometimes hit and won’t go away fully for weeks or even months on end 🤦🏻‍♀️ Yeap I get super overwhelmed as well and that is my plan now that after all this time I finally went through them. Yeap that’s my plan I have to organize them and then I will be going through them and using them in my videos it’s going to be fun trying them all out 💕 Thank you for the well wishes and I hope you have many good days ahead!

Thank you for sharing your TMS treatment with us. I’m in Australia and I also have TMS because I was having reactions to almost all medications and I was also resistant. I suffer from major depressive disorder and a few other things. It is a wonderful treatment and non-invasive. Just remember it’s okay. You will still struggle. I have maintenance now which means about every 10 weeks. I go back in for about 5 to 10 sessions just to keep everything under control Some people have to have it regularly like me just like a tablet or something for putting fuel in the car just to keep me going and I’m fine with that other people may have it once and that’s enough to change them. Either way it’s a miracle therapy that should be more readily available. I’m so glad you were able to get this treatment.

Thank you for sharing. My heart goes out to you. Enjoy all of your new supplies because there is a reason you accumulated them. I went through a very bad time with an ex and struggled with mental health bc of it. I also had accumulated many art supplies after working in an art store, and it was a godsend, because I was not working when we broke up and I had no way of getting any more supplies in having that stash. Saved my life literally. Not only for the outlet, they provided but because I was not able to acquire any more for a long time. I am sending well wishes your way.❤❤❤

Gentle hugs (if you want them) Your story is perhaps more relatable than I care to admit out loud 😅 embrace the baby steps! You got this! One option if you're worried about impulse purchasing - is basically take a good photo of each item you have, and caption photo as it would be named/listed online... if you're able to catalog what you have - you can throw those photos into a folder on Google Drive and "shop your stash" much easier. It's kind of slow and clunky to set up, and doesn't work for everyone, but I can say it's helped me avoid impulse purchases, and get excited for the stuff I have! I have a folder in my phone gallery named "Cart" and when I "shop" my stash, I save the image of what I want to pull out and use.. to the Cart folder 😂 Not for everyone. But definitely an option heheh

Thank you for sharing your story. I have struggled with depression and anxiety all my life. Since childhood. I grew up in a dysfunctional family with mental and physical abuse. I started drawing and painting at a very young age. It's been a source or therapy for me. Now, I have a growing pile of art supplies waiting for me to open them up. I keep telling myself I'm not going to buy any more. Yeah, right. 😂 Just know you are not alone. One day at a time, one step at a time, one tiny accomplishment at a time is how I do it. Hi MaryAnn! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me as well 💓 I have experienced a lot of trauma from my childhood to a very long abusive relationship that completely wrecked my self esteem, sense of self, alienated me from everyone amongst other things but then life kept throwing punches ar me with sick loved ones and well it ended up with me being in a state where making it through each day was the only thing I could do. I am so grateful to have found support and the help I’ve needed to be in a better place now and finally working towards my goals but it is still a day to day basis thing where there are good days and very hard to get anything done at all days (the chronic pain really doesn’t help the mental stuff either 🫠) However we do have art and art supplies to keep us company and when you do get to use them they bring you such joy so I am so happy I am not alone in this either. I wish you many good days ahead full of color and art fun 💖💕💓

I'm noticing lots of specific purchases like the botanical Sennelier watercolor sets by Billy, the Mossery x Sibyline and the Plate to Paper workbook 😍 I contemplated getting these at one point too! I'm glad you could get your hands on them when you could've afford it. Lately all the art I'm doing is using water based markers in coloring books. I'm avoiding my own art because I'm kinda hard on myself. However I believe the coloring book is helping me especially because I really don't have real expectations other than actually using up the markers. I keep a transparent container labelled "Empties". I feel so accomplished when these marker are dried entirely and seeing them there in the container reminds me of that feeling!😊

Came from Doodle Date 🙂 Love how you started your video with showing your space. I had to pause to look at your pin board cause your chibi moon pin caught my eye. Admittedly I paused a lot. The Art of Mana looks cool! I started to write this comment before watching the part where you talked about your depression and feel a little silly now. I also deal with anxiety and depression( along with some mix of neurodivergence) and the feeling of not being able to do the things you enjoy is familiar. I'm glad you have found something that has helped you, I'm not sure I've heard of TMS I'll have to look that up. I have chronic pain due to fibromyalgia, fortunately it's manageable but the fatigue still gets me. Dealing with health issues is plenty, I'm sorry you've also had to deal with the loss of your cat. We( me and my s.o.) got bad news about our dog and don't know how much longer he will be with us. I had no motivation the day I heard that news besides wanting to spend it with him. I feel there's more I could say but I'll just say this: I hope you can find the spark of joy to create with your art supplies. Wishing you the best.

I feel like people who have been through something similar get it. I get it. I feel like I've purchased most of my art supplies when I actually couldn't use them because I desperately wanted to make art, but both my mind and body were in too much pain to allow that. I don't regret it at all, but I think it's also important to work on that habit. Now that I feel content with the supplies I have, I want to make sure I don't purchase more for a while. I recommend creating an inventory with all the things you have and "shopping" from there. Have fun with everything though and why not host a giveaway for the things you feel you don't need? Anyway, sorry for the long comment! I wish you the best going forward 🫶

Make yourself a tiny kit to fit in your purse and carry with you....a small sketchbook, a few pencils, etc. And just doodle. I think you need to use a few things at a time in small ways to get started. And maybe you can teach others how to sketch in order to heal! I find sketchbooks very valuable for times when things are rough.

I feel like I relate so much. I have all those things (except depression- just anxiety). Introvert, non trad student, arthritis in 20s, had chronic pain, etc etc other things. BUT. I believe in you. I went back to school at 33 and now Im getting my PhD. I'm struggling right now too. My cat of 17yrs- best friend- died in the summer while I was out of the country. He died in my husbands arms a few days after my father-in law died. YEAH. My husband was so strong. I focus on gratitude. Art and curiosity help A LOT. I wish you the best.

Hi Tisa I am so glad to hear you were able to go back to school, that’s what I am aiming for right now. What are you or did you study? I am struggling to make a decision on what to go for atm. I am so sorry about your kitty, loss is so hard for me to deal with I’ve lost a lot of people and pets and it puts me in a really dark place. I wish you peace and I am happy that art is helping you as well 💕💖 *hugs*

My heart goes out to you. I have a lot of the same health issues and for the last few years have been eating a keto diet. It helped a lot. I found a lot of help from Steven Gundry's youtube channel. I cut out grains and have been feeling so much better. I wish you the best and hope you can get your life back on track. Health is everything. I hope you check it out and can find some help there. I will be watching for more from you. Thank you for sharing. It looks like more fun than Christmas! I can't imagine opening all those supplies. I just want to come over to your house!

Sending prayers. Give yourself grace as you move through this journey. Move with your strengths and experience. Maybe look into art therapy as a career… it would combine your art and teaching but it would be one on one allowing you to be creative and help other people going through something similar as you have but not be so overwhelming with a large class of students. It’s just an idea to ponder. I have a similar background as you with the struggles and career changes. What had helped me is to follow my heart and my passion and it continually opens doors. Lifting you up in good thoughts.

I suffer from depression, anxiety and ADHD. Having Fibromyalgia and Multiple Sclerosis only compounds my invisible symptoms. So I completely understand. I’ve thought of that therapy as well, and I plan on asking my neurologist about it.

Hi Ryan! I have depression anxiety, and ADD as well and it’s really not a fun cocktail of things. I am currently undergoing my second round of TMS for my depression and anxiety and hoping this time the effects will stick around for longer. If you have the opportunity to get it it is a great alternative to having to take multiple medications (I was able to get off of two other meds with it) but because of circumstantial events my depression and anxiety relapsed and I don’t want to start taking more meds again so we are trying tms again. I hope you can get it and I hope you have lots of good days because I know how hard it can be. Hugs to you and your family 💖💞💓

Remember Everyone moves at their own pace , its overwhelming sometimes comparing your self with daily bloggers or new content weekly , so please Do not apologize , and remember the joy of watching art supplies hauls. i also lost my mom 14 years ago and i still go to therapy , and yet i created the most relaxing paints for others to enjoy , stay strong :) from Another Cat owner 🐱

Oh god I know! Content creation on other platforms makes me so anxious because there seems to be zero growth there and then I get really discouraged. I am so sorry about your mom I lost my dad when I was 16 and it still hurts I don’t do well with loss at all. I have a fantastic therapist who has helped me immensely so I am really happy you have one who is helping you as well 💕💖 I love cats so much say hi to them for me🥹💕

So was it the threat of not being able to work, though, whilst being that ill as that's what happened to me whilst I was doing a uni degree, and it broke me. I had to put myself back together, and now I'm making an artbroom, and I'm guna go on KZbin so I feel like I have more of a purpose if you know what I mean. Hope your feeling better, or are you still struggling?
