That building near the roundabout is now the state tourism office. They tried to make it into a library but didn’t work, before that it was the old state secretariat building. Another thing to find in Seremban would be the King George V school. Also another British era building still in use. Restoration works were unfortunately not high on the list for Seremban and the buildings went into decay. Hopefully they realise what the potential is and do something soon.

It was on the way to the train station that the taxi driver told me about the school! I really think that Seremban has a lot of potential as a tourist place and I have been to a lot of cities and towns around the world! Tell the people in charge to hire me and I can make it work ha ha

Seremban is a nice place to live in if you prefer a quieter and simpler life but still can drive/ride/take a train to kuala lumpur in less than an hour for work and/or fun. It basically have everything in small doses. Those who like luxurious brands or the excitement of a super hustle and bustle life may not like it there.

The very main reason why I chose to live in Seremban. Though my house is on the other side of Seremban. Near AEON S2. I'll go to KL maybe 4-6 times a year. Other than that Seremban is perfect for me.

I'd bring a retractable umbrella just in case of unpredictable downpours of Malaysia in my tiny sling bag of medication and camera. :D 23:24 Actually it's an ongoing, constant battle of limited fund on rebuilding the local heritage buildings, building new buildings with local flairs over maintaining the colonial buildings. The UK could propose having a unilateral board to maintain many colonial building overseas via funding them and become a patron. In fact, most of Malaysia old buildings regardless of origin are racing against time on deterioration as many of the new and current governance prefers to build new modern things for Malaysia as preparation for the future, 2050. Hopefully the new highspeed train will bring more tourist to this city as they're quite good for backpackers to save up on lodging while they can still enjoy Kuala Lumpur by boarding a train or even rent a motorbike.

I think the UK would love to supply funds but unfortunately they have problems of their own! Main reason I like travelling! There is a building in the street where I’m staying that has a sign on saying 1960 (after independence) and looks like it’s seen better days. I think KL is looking to the future with hi rise modern buildings and it’s a shame they don’t look after their past. 2050?

Paths in Malaysia are terrible when wet, bloody death traps. It's like they don't realise it's a tropical country and it rains a lot. I almost fell into a road today, and I have on more than one occasion slipped and hurt myself. I have not really noticed it elsewhere in Asia to that extent. (Except little Malaysia (Brunei)). Serembam does look worth a visit, I may have to take a trip.However, as you saw and I have seen all over the country, Malaysia really doesn't give a flying f**k about maintaining it's historical buildings. Which is ironic because the few cities that do are tourism power houses. Melaka and George Town. And as you are finding out, most places of interest to tourists are inevitably closed with no notice.
@iantravels24062 ай бұрын
Sad but true actually. Wished more funds are placed on historical buildings
@iantravels24062 ай бұрын
@silverfoxjb most of the peninsular towns don't really have the good emphasis on the value of historical buildings, with probably the religious buildings ending up to be the most well preserved. However if you got to places like kuching, you can see that the east Malaysia side is placing a very big emphasis on development and preservation that is better than most of the mainland side. As a Malaysian, some of the old town maps are hardly even visible nor do they have any tourism office or such to help with tourism. Even worse is that if they do, their location is highly inconvenient like the jb tourist center or kl one which are far away from the major tourist sites.
@SilverfoxJB2 ай бұрын
@@iantravels2406 Yes, I hate the fact that also the tourism office will almost certainly be closed. (I had exactly that situation in Geroge Town last week by Komtar). Towns like Taiping and Ipoh have some amazing buildings just rotting also, Pekan and I am sure many, many more. But it's like visiting the Malaysian East Coast, kilometres of beautiful beaches, but it's obvious that the last thing they want is tourists.
@iantravels24062 ай бұрын
@@SilverfoxJB at least in penang, maps are distributed to major malls and hotels. Melaka has recently stopped doing that along with many other states with most having their last update in 2016.
