Hey, a few things about that 130 tab list button in Firefox. As of 131 release, the icon is back to simple arrow, and you now can freely remove it with "Customize toolbar" or even move it to different place - replace useless Firefox View with it for example.

If you have too much tabs open, you have another problem than using a browser - how many icons you have on the desktop ? For the free software nerds: Nobody wants to pay, but developers also need to feed their families. So some big companies "donate" huge sums for development. And then the complaints start, that this companies dictate the direction of your "free" product. Some demand "free energy", but who will pay workers building the infrastructure ? Nothing is really free.

@@LinuxRenaissance that is the thing, sadly it is a problem we can not really solve. The fact of the matter is that so many downloads and devices are used by people who do not have much of a care to learn about different browsers or why they should use some and not others. Especialy when you look at what you might find in offices and corporations who often use chrome as they prioritize its user friendly interface that their employees can operate easily, despite their knowledge level of computers and technology and after chrome you see a lot of safari and edge and that is just because those are default browsers on the two major OS.

Well, that’s why Vivaldi and Brave are doing their own security with the built-in adblock which is quite good. Saying free you mean foss? not freeware? Also You didn't name Librewolf and ungoogled-chromium. There is no good browser nowadays but I have faith in those two. Need mention that Firefox usage in the market is 2-4% don't like their sneaky attacks on privacy and apologies. I am waiting for a change in the market but chromium had around 70%. I don't believe that any fork can write its own code which is not a built-in extension or just own adjust option. Brave had a previous shady history so I am not trust them, but still brave/vivaldi is reasonable option.
@LinuxRenaissance2 ай бұрын
Yes, I usually mean "free software" as defined by the Free Software Foundation, rather than just "freeware." That’s why I tend to avoid saying FOSS and might even start saying "libre software" more consistently. As for Brave vs. Vivaldi, the reason I highlighted Brave is because its code is libre. This, at least in theory, should help mitigate concerns about the company’s history, but if I'm wrong here, I'd love to know more. Brave’s built-in content blocking is, in my opinion, better than tweaking ungoogled-chromium with extensions to achieve similar results. Librewolf is a solid choice, but I feel like it doesn’t add much beyond removing Mozilla's influence from Firefox. For example, Firefox recently restored my ability to remove certain interface buttons I didn’t want, while Librewolf hasn't yet included that update. This isn't just about the button-it points to the reality that Librewolf is still largely a soft fork of Firefox.
@l4nc2 ай бұрын
@@LinuxRenaissance LibreWolf is about 3 days behind Firefox main version, I have checked 132.0-1, and it doesn't have auto-updates so that might give the impression of using old software. You have more control over updating. It is always two ways of customization adding or removing things, it's a personal choice. I always used Brave with ublock origin so I can't say if build in adblock is better or not but I can assume v3 could mix things between competition in blockers.
