she totally nailed the first part when she was talking about instagram culture...like there's this new idea that women are somehow empowering themselves by modifying their body when deep down it's just glorified insecurity. i'm glad i don't have an instagram
@groxsii6 жыл бұрын
I mean, idk why everyone blames instagram. I was a teen before instagram even came around and insecurities were all the same. The difference is nobody even thought of fillers or surgery because it was so taboo and something only rich celebrities had. Now everyone is much more informed, u can find videos and information so easily...

I honestly can't wait for the cosmetic fillers/surgery trend to die off. People will always modify themselves, I don't mind it in principle, but thousands of girls suddenly wanting inflated lips in the space of a few years and walking around with weirdly swollen, inexpressive mouths (natural large lips move completely differently to fillers) that they were told looks 'natural' is way above and beyond the usual variation in people wanting to improve what they personally don't like about themselves. It's all social pressure, and it's leading to a lot of perfectly lovely looking people paying a lot of money altering things that 5 years ago wouldn't have been seen as deficient. And people dying from Brazilian Butt Lifts. And starving their waists down to size whilst exercising like mad. Initially the fashion world embracing curvier figures and different facial features looked liberating, but now it's just become another unattainable narrow beauty ideal, just for different people. I'm glad Becky has decided she liked how she looks in the end and took the plunge with a reversal, because she's gorgeous.
@essiyah27056 жыл бұрын
The trend of plastic surgery became so toxic. At first people were changing stuff they genuinely felt insecure about. But now it's just to look like a Instagram model. Half of the time it doesn't even look natural.

Arual Rosso True, I forgot about Instagram. You can just post a photo of a flaw on insta with a long caption about your struggles and get a lot of love from different people. But in terms of looks or beauty, I've found that it's kinda like, you got what what you got and if you change it then youre shallow and if you get some kind of cosmetic procedure (depending on your age) then it's kind of met with judgemental sneers from other women. Unless you have a female healing circle, Ive never really found a place in real life to gush about my insecurities. Just my two cents.✌

Good for her! I had a little lip filler once. Ok it hurts. I bruised. Wasn’t a HUGE difference but that’s what I wanted. Go to a good plastic surgeon who does things based on your face. When I got some lip filler, I didn’t use but 1/4 of the syringe. They only used as much as I need to achieve a result I wanted. Which is symmetry and balance. You want to look like a better you, not like someone else.

Why trusting a doctor who suggests us to do some cosmetic treatment we don't think is necessary (i.e. the upper lip, the one you didn't want to do)? I mean, the doctor may be right and we may be wrong, but in cases like this I'd consult another doctor before having the procedure done in a way I don't like. So happy I learned to be happy with my body. I mean, no shade to anyone getting things adjusted, you do you. But it's still a risky situation. You never know what you might end up with, especially if you'd want surgery on certain parts of yourself (I know, this isn't the same, but still) Some things aren't reversible. And if they are, they're never easy or cheap.
