i think what people dont understand about attending a community college is that youre stuck at home. theres less opportunities and you KNOW there are kids your age doing things you wish you could. some people dont like being at home or have family issues they want to escape. its hard to make friends at a CC and it's basically high school 2.0. it is terrible. sure you get to save lots and possibly not be in debt later on in life, but there are lots of cons and disadvantages w CC. getting an education is a lucky thing to have, of course, but theres so much more deep down and CC sometimes just suck. you cant do much and some classmates and professors dont help you at all or downgrade you because they either feel like it or its who they are. honestly always tell urself 1 or 2 more years. u can do it >)

I guess it depends on the type of cc you attend because all the professors I've had at my cc are amazing and super understanding. And on top of that, there were quite a few social events for students to attend throughout the year to get involved with clubs and to meet new friends. But I think my school is one of the largest community colleges in the US, and although I do meet older students here and there, the majority are 18-23 so that could play a part in why my experience is so great. The social aspect of college is super important though so idk why people are acting like it's silly to want that type of experience. College is hard without time to unwind. I hope your time in community college goes by quickly!

I think she clearly understands, but she just doesn't like her situation. Sometimes, going to a community college is not by choice but by other centrifugal forces: money, grades, personal family issues. While choosing to go to college is a choice, not everyone can transfer after high school due to reasons mentioned thereon. Motivation, or lack of motivation, is something shared among adolescents and college students, even adults. While motivation can be linked to depression and depression may not necessarily be linked to just being bored since we all face levels of boredom, there are outside factors that contribute to being bored. We all know what feeling under the weather is like, for example. And as a middle aged male, and non-traditional student, U can safely say there were days I did not want to go to work or school. In fact, I was fired from many I'd my early jobs. However, it's not unusual for young adults to feel unmotivated, avd even the weather has an influence on your mood. Raining days have a psychological effect on you, especially if you grew up in California. Whereas, if you grew up in the Pacific northwest, you may go unaffected and even claim that a rainy day is a beautiful day! And you csn see all the colors of the rainbow. I definitely can see how having very little friends can lead to boring unmotivated days. However, as young people blossom into a mature woman, they will earn to fight the feeling of not wanting to go into work or working with people that just suck. It's true. Some people just suck the life out of you to the point you may say F the world! However, once you come to a realization that you don't need their permission to be happy or rule your life or tell you how to feel, you will feel proud of who you are and thus mature into a happy person. Many human beings go through this. And I think having a lack of friends can contribute to your boredom. However, if you focus on your accomplishments and what makes you happy, you'll have less time to be bored or let boredom conquer you. Hence, I believe she is familiar with her choices. She is just choosing to share her boredom with us because of the outside influences out of her control. However, once she transfers, she'll have fewer reasons to be bored as she is bombarded with the university life.

The point of going to college is not for the "college experience". You go for an education. You don't even need to go to college to go to a party on the weekend. Employers don't hire people based on where they went to school and not based on weather or not they had the "college experience". Completely negligible. Just keep grinding and get that degree.

I went to community college so I can use financial aide and actually get money back to save up. Ended up getting an associates degree, a really good job in my field and going back for a 2 year degree(that’s actually going to be a year because of my transfer credits) where I can actual get the college experience. Community college will leave you in a weird spot socially. Especially if you don’t want to retain any friendships from High school. My CC was so invested in helping people graduate debt free that they now even have a program that helps any student do the same. The funny thing is I have the same name as her and I’m starting my very first year of college tomorrow as a freshman in a community college. But here’s the thing, I recognize that her standards of what college is supposed to be, is off. Meaning, when she mentioned she isn’t going to any parties etc while in college, college isn’t about that, it’s about getting to your career goals and it’s probably better than high school where there’s a bunch of children and a lot more immature gossip. Don’t get me wrong, there’s probably that as well in any college or place really but expectations are brought up differently etc. the parties and stuff, like, if you find a few friends who are like that then great! I mean it’s not like college doesn’t hold any clubs or events, because they do, it’s more convenient but it also depends on where you go. At least you aren’t a person to drive so many hours to college or literally flying in order to get there, you know? Honestly I’m nervous but I’m excited. The classroom atmosphere has always made me nervous ever since I was a kid but at the same time, it’s not the same as the torture I was put through in high school, middle, etc. Ik it’s easy to say but you have it better than other people, I’m not saying you don’t suffer, but at the same time some people can’t even afford any of this

However, in community college, in most of my classes, people either sleep or don't put any effort into the class whatsoever. Another thing is the social aspect because my campus is really lacking in that department. We have clubs, but due to my work schedule, I don't have the time to join any of them. I'm thankful to be getting an education at a decent price, and the ability to still live with my parents rent-free, but I had to option to go straight to a 4-year college and my parents kind of forced me to go to a community college. It's really not that bad, and it's a great stepping stone to a 4-year, plus the flexible schedule to take night classes and online classes is definitely a positive. I'm graduating a semester early, and a lot of the schools I'm applying to have full-rides that I qualify for so there's a chance I might graduate debt-free. Sorry, this comment is so long haha but community college is overall a different experience for everyone, and I know a lot of people that absolutely love it and are actually sad about leaving. If you do decide to attend a community college, really try to focus on your grades and don't go in with the mindset that community college is easier, because I've taken some challenging classes and have had some rough professors. Hopefully, this long ass comment helped somewhat lol.

You’re going to college to get an education to better yourself, not to party and get the “college experience”. That doesn’t even matter, I would much rather work hard to get my degree rather than party and drink every weekend. And skipping class is NOT good for you, girl. Please do not condone skipping classes, I think that’s the wrong message to send. Just work hard and it’ll pay off.

As person who has completed his 4 year college grinding through it and now having 6 figure salary. Yeah , I had a small group of friends and had lot of fun . Not necessarily party. We did have but I am never the party person , it's just for insta clout for most. "COLLEGE IS FOREMOST FOR EDUCATION AND CAREER . NEVER GO TO COLLEGE FOR JUST FUN . DEBT IS A BITCH

If don’t like the college in your district, just go to one in a neighboring district. That’s what I did. My local college sucked terribly, so I went to the next one over on the far side of the county. It was awesome, and now I miss it after transferring to university. You sound spoiled and obnoxious. Why don’t you talk to people? Meet new people. Hang out outside your classroom and talk to the other students before class. Don’t be anti-social. Join some clubs, go to the rec center, and meet people. Make or find a study group in the library.

@MrBassmann15
@MrBassmann15 2 жыл бұрын
@@ariyonnathebeautifulariese4104 At Community College, you don't get as much work as an actual 4-year University. You can have a social life. 4-year University gives you enough work to always constantly read and take notes. If you don't read the readings, you will fail. Community College classes are laid back to a point where you can just attend the lectures and look at the PowerPoints and still get an A. This is a luxury you can't afford in your 4-year University. You also get a lot more projects that you have to do since you will be taking 300 and 400 level classes and Community College only has 100 and 200 level classes. Community Colleges are also more laid back on grading as well. Classes in Community College are point-based and it's possible to get a B or even an A if you do badly on one exam. 4-year Universities are cumulative grading where one exam or essay is worth 25% of your grade while classwork and homework are lumped together as one for only 10% of your grade.
