Why I Hate My PLC - Siemens 1211C

Feel like I got scammed with this 1211 S7 1200. Can't wait to get a 1214C.

ODot has great cheap extention modules, PSU go for Weidmueller the go for 100€, i belive Delta has some cheaper psu. You can get sensors form Chinese suppliers, if its not an industiral application. Phoenix contact has cheap push in terminals. On the plc side go for at least 1214 if not 1215. We made bigger machines using Siemens 1200 series, its very powerful in the right configuration.

Sure, it''s a bummer, but a good learning experience. The 1211C are meant for small applications that won't be upgraded. You could keep the 1211C and supplement your 1214 so you can tinker with modbus or Profinet networking between the two. Look forward to the future videos. You're doing great!

Ooo that's actually a great idea! I was just on site for a week with 3 PLCs that were talking to each other. I did give modbus a bit of a Google, so I might actually do this. Thanks jay!

Try a CLICK PLC it’s much cheaper and it has options for up to 8 I/O Modules.

Thanks Jose, I'm trying not to complicate my learning process by mixing in different companies but I am very keen to get onto the cheaper products - once I've gotten the hang of Siemens.

Yes Automation Direct is the GIG! Also, i have been involved with PLC programming since the 80's, AB PLC2mini, Modicon 984, Modicon Quantum, AB PLC5, AB Control Logics, Mitsubishi. With a smattering of Idec, Omron and Klockner Moeller thrown in! Of all Enjoyed the Mitsubishi the best. Am looking forward to you delving into the Raspberry Pi as a PLC. Limitless!

Nice, guys at my work hate Mitsubishi 😅. How about the Arduino one? I believe it should be out next month. I'm excited for that.
