I don’t like it especially in the summertime when you want the air conditioner to be on and then it just shuts off at a stoplight and starts blowing in nasty humid air. :/

I saw a review of the 2017 Quattroporte and they said the start stop system was good and really quick to restart after removing your foot. Regardless of how good or bad a start stop system may be, I agree with you, I dont think that would be for me.

I'm glad they are making improvements on it. If they are going to have it, they might as well make it function well haha.

I hate the start stop feature. Thank you for showing me the proper way to shut off the start stop mode on my Maserati.

Wow! Really!! You must be dummer than a person who made a video about start/stop!

I agree. I wish there was a way to turn it off permanently. I’ve had the car stall and go into neutral as well if I took my foot off the brake too soon after it turned off.

Thank you I really appreciate the explanation so thoroughly…I hate start stop!! I don’t even use the start and stop feature and it gave me a warning signal of failure? How could that be?
@tokyohands8 ай бұрын
Dead battery probably as it has a separate one for that feature.
@tokyohands8 ай бұрын
I imagine you could also remove the battery for stop/start or not replace it when it dies. I know the feature uses a separate battery, is it solely for that feature though? I’ve just replaced the one in mine and it only seemed to affect the stop/start feature with a warning light when it died.

Start stop systems only realistically make sense when you're stationary in traffic for like 30 seconds or so. But sometimes it can be dangerous in manual cars, I once rode in a Golf with start stop, and the engine literally shut off whilst changing from 3rd to 4th gear on a 40mph stretch of road. So in that respect, as long as it's not jerky, the system makes sense in an Auto 👍. (My view of it anyways :)
@RonsRides7 жыл бұрын
I didnt even think about them being in manuals. That sounds super faulty but yeah driving a manual is a pain in bumper to bumper so I see what you're saying with automatics and start/stop.

Also not a fan of auto stop/start. I have to manually turn off at every startup in '16 Jag XF - regardless of drive mode - and it's annoying. Love that Maserati did it right for sport mode. Especially in Fla with AC pull, it seems an especially dumb feature. Most especially annoying because it will sometimes kick in before engine is fully warm. I kept asking about pull and wear on engine/starter, and questioned the fuel savings. Finally found a few studies and have decided that stop/start is not a terrible idea anymore. I still don't care about fuel savings and always turn it off. But, for the majority of the drivers who couldn't tell you the difference between horsepower and torque, it's probably a good thing. But, every car should give the driver the option to default off. Lucky for those who do.

Very well said, why it may be somewhat beneficial, it should be something you turn on, not a decision that's made for you.Because I dont care about it either lol.
@psujeepjohn7 жыл бұрын
Hate it on my Giulia, too. It can be overridden, but it has to be done every time you start the car.
@RonsRides7 жыл бұрын
Do you have to go into the settings to override it on your Giulia?
@psujeepjohn7 жыл бұрын
No. There is a button on the dash just under the button that turns on/off the parking sensors. SO, it is easy enough to turn off...just have to remember to do it every time I start the car. And when I forget, it's very annoying the first time the car shuts off.
@RonsRides7 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah I can see that getting annoying. At least there's an independent button, its just half the battle remembering to press it haha.

I know this video is 5 years old but I just bought my first Maserati (Levante) and had my first experience with start/stop (in ANY car so it really threw me off when I was doing my test drive! lol). So did you say there was a way to get it so it defaults to being off? Is that something a mechanic needs to do? I guess I’ll ask when I take it in for my first service because it’s kind of annoying to have to remember to turn it off every time I go somewhere! I don’t think I want to drive it in sport mode ALL the time, although I guess I might if that’s my only option 😆
@Theriony4517 жыл бұрын
The way it is implemented, it's one of the stupid thing in a car. You stop for a couple of seconds and the car shut down unnecessary. It should be possible to configure the time before S&S act. It's a nice feature if you a idle in traffic for like 20 or 30 seconds.

I have had my 2018 Ghibli for 10 months now and only yesterday did it “stall” at traffic lights. I realized finally, it was start / stop function. However I never once turned it on or off. I never knew it was equipped with it. I 90% of the drive drive in normal mode. Only yesterday did the start stop icon A with arrow circle pop up. I want it more permanent disabled.
@guidolauto7 жыл бұрын
Interesting, we only have Start/Stop on the diesel Ghibli in the UK. FCA do this across the range with some cars having start/stop and others not, even with the same base engine, based on the market and the tax/emissions regulations for the country.

If you dont mind me asking what is a good price to pay for this? www.landroverhuntvalley.com/used/Maserati/2015-Maserati-Ghibli-Cockeysville-MD-83108eea0a0e0ae97a1697c4921455d2.htm

Id say get them down to $50k out the door and thats a decent price for those options. Just make sure the car was serviced properly and on time. Check over those records and you should be good.
