It's ok to take a break. It's also ok to quit and go in a different direction, if you need or want to. You have to take care to yourself. I have been caring for my 89 year old father who has dementia during this pandemic. I figured it was perfect timing to keep us both safe from the virus. But it's been so much harder than I thought it would be. Dad requires my constant attention. I'm drained. My life and learning sign language has been put on hold. But now it's time for dad to have professional care and for me to get my physical and mental health back. Aside from that, I want you to know how much I've enjoyed your videos (when I can view them). But you are not obligated to any of us to keep vlogging. I, for one, am happy I got my start with you. If that ends, then I will learn some other way. I'm sure our respect and affection for you will continue, no matter what. ❤

I'm so glad you posted this. Someone discouraged me twice from teaching my kids ASL. All our family and friends are hearing, so we don't have an immediate need to learn. BUT it broke my heart that someone had discouraged me from giving that gift of language to myself and my kids. I have dreams that we will be able to connect with others when we otherwise wouldn't. I felt so awful that my resolve to learn was so easily broken, but that's the honest truth. Negative words have a MUCH great impact than positive words unfortunately. THEN!! I saw this video. I've also been going through a difficult time and hadn't given much thought to learning ASL. Thank you for sharing. I am ready and excited to sign up for your wait-list simply because you are working through something, are getting back up to finish your goal and were willing to share that with the world. Truthfully, it took a couple of ASL videos for me to get used to not having audio. However, I wouldn't change that process for anything. It was so helpful for me to understand just a little bit more what it's like not to hear. I needed to experience that. Also, I love the way you speak/communicate and your heart is so beautiful. It's clear that you are genuine and that's the kind of teacher I want and admire~ 💕

I normally don't comment on videos but I will in this case. I am not deaf and I fell in love with your videos from the start. SO much so, that I subscribed to your channel. Everyone struggles but what you have to realize is that you can't control the rain. Do what you want and just be yourself. Post what you want to share and don't disclose things you feel will harm you in some way. Don't sweat the small stuff and just do you.....love the videos.................

Hey Ashley! I totally understand being stressed and behind on KZbin, and it's happened to me over and over. Your channel is so awesome because of the teaching, and the vlogs that we can learn from. God has truly given you a platform to honor him, and it is such an amazing thing to be able to teach and vlog like you are doing. Never feel like you have to post just because the weekly mark is coming up. I just came across your videos, and I must say I appreciate you. You’re amazing at demonstrating sign language. My parents are hearing impaired and I love the deaf community. Ashley, I just found you a few days ago. I have always wanted to learn to sign. I know a little but not enough to carry on a conversation. I love your sign language series, because of the way you teach. I don't have to listen to someone. I am being taught by someone that is deaf and you have so much more to give than someone that isn't deaf. My Father was almost deaf and learned how to read lips and so did I. I now have several deaf friends and I would love to sign with them rather than have to have them read my lips. Both can speak clearly enough that I can understand them, but so many can't. I have trained service dogs ( disability, autism and PTSD dogs) for a very long time, but never a hearing dog, which was my goal. I can't now due to a bad fall I took, which makes it very difficult to do the constant bending that is required just to train the dog for service before the dog learns to be a hearing dog. Anyway, don't give up please!!!!! I have learned more from you in 3 videos than I have learned from others. Your an amazing women. And if you ever feel that you can't do this anymore, just send me an email and I will give you the confidence and strength to keep you going. God Bless you my dear teacher!

I started your videos about two years ago when I started ASL 1 in school. It was rough but your signing style is simular to one of my teachers. Last month I just finished ASL 4 and I still watch your videos. It's kinda become my routine. The difference now is I don't need the captions lol. Whatever you do or don't do just know you had a positive impact on my studying ASL.

Woohoo! Was so excited to see this when I clicked on You Tube :) I'm excited about the changes and glad you got some help w/the CC, as I know that was bit frustrating for you because of the time it takes to do it. Glad you're feeling better and focused again on your new project and looking forward to that also. As I've mentioned before for myself, I enjoy both types of videos you do, teaching and vlogs. The reason being the vlogs being "natural signing" it helps with my receptive practice since I usually watch them more then once. Hi! 👋 I have been watching a long time. I am hearing and my husband is deaf, so I don't need the captions but I do read along and watch you sign. Please don't let the captions hold you back. It might even be more helpful to some not having captions as a crutch. I am still learning, too! 🤟 hang in there the last year has been hard.

Hey, its ok to take a break from something if you need it. Even if you promised you would do something. It doesn’t mean that you have failed in anyway if you need to take care of you. Besides, you finished a good chunk of the year. So that counts for something. Good Job 👏🏻 😃

I doubt I'm the only one that saw it but since lots of people have been there, got help, and met others in a similar situation along their journey. I don't see how that would affect your reputation.
