Sorry to hear that. I do wish you the best for the future as working at SEGA will lead to greater things in life. I too have dreamt of working at SEGA before. I remembered like visiting the place in London for an interview, and it was a grand experience. It’s sad that many game companies had to layoff staff at this time, even during this year. But I do hope the best for all those affected in finding better pastures.

I don't know your channel but I love Sonic and this story is really heartbreaking. As much as you're taking it positively, I must say that this new trend of laying off employees on a big scale is one of the cancer of the videogame industry, and I refuse to believe this is an ethical course of action for a multimillion dollar company. It's just fucking unfair and I think companies should address this brutal behaviour. That being said, this was your dream job and it will forever be a great memorable part of your journey, one you can be really proud of and one from which you can start again. I know this is destructive and you're really hurting right now, I know it's really difficult to find yourself in times like these, but when you'll be ready you will realize that you're still that crazy Sonic guy with an enormous passion and an incredible experience, and your expertise will be a great help for the realization of other awesome games. One thing I get from this video is that you've been proud of what you've done with Sega. You will be proud again. You will help the realization of great games and you'll be proud to have been a part of the company behind them. And you will still be that crazy Sonic guy. "Nothing starts until you take action. If you have time to worry, then run!" Big hug man (and a little subscribe). Take care. ❤

I'm hearting this because I feel for you, not because I believe that's the way to do it. If you have dreams chase them. Yeah this hurt at the end but I had the time of my life. Don't let fear of loss control your future, make your own destiny. As sonic said 'if you have time to worry, then run'!

Aw man.... I am so sorry. My heart goes out to you, because in a way I understand what it's like having to leave a workplace with amazing people, where you actually loved going to work, being part of a great team, giving it your all... and suddenly there's something you have no control over that forces you to move on, and it's the most painful thing to deal with, I swear, I am crying right now just hearing about your experience. I cannot IMAGINE how difficult it is, in comparison, since getting a job at SEGA sounds like an absolute dream come true, and it is so unfair and devastating to know that a life long goal can actually come an end like this, when we least expect it. It is heartbreaking 🫂 All I can think of saying is, hang in there. I have a strong feeling you'll get to do something amazing again regarding your passion in the future no matter what, I just know it. Don't lose contact with those who got through this with you, don't lose hope, you'll come back stronger eventually, to anything it may turn out to be 🙌💫💙 and keep listening to those vocal Sonic tracks, absolutely, those lyrics ARE hella powerful :') you got this!!

I've been fortunate enough to have met some wonderful folks from sega europe, it's a tremendous shame that things had to be this way. I was absolutely overjoyed to have played sonic frontiers before release at MCM back in 2022, happy to have been part of sega's charity fundraising for gameblast and pride - and the sonic symphony last year was a revelation. I absolutely feel your heartbreak at not being part of sega anymore, I remember so well my childhood dreams of working for them - and while I never made it there myself, it never ceases to fill me with hope and joy to see that such great people have worked at a company so integral to my identity growing up and subsequently finding myself as an adult. you're clearly no exception to that, and your passion is so evident and genuine that it's impossible to imagine you not going onto ever greater things in future. you mentioned some of the vocal tracks from sonic frontiers... the one that always stood out most in my mind was one way dream; to me, it represents the hope of what's to come, and a person's ability to overcome tragedy and setbacks in pursuit of that. so, keep your head up; you were part of something great, and you'll inevitably take that greatness forward. 😌

Can I ask you a question? What exactly did you guys do at Sega? Like, you weren’t game developers were you? What all other jobs were there at Sega and how involved were they with the creation of games? The most importantly, we have very reliable leakers in the community. Generally, how does this happen? I don’t know if you or Calamity have the answers. But just thought I would ask.

I've been a Sonic fan since around 2015, and have since gotten well acquainted with the franchise and have placed it above Mario as my favorite franchise. Since then, I've also become more acquainted with the other franchises Sega has made, like Nights into Dreams, Super Monkey Ball, Jet Set Radio, Persona, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, etc. and I have such a deep appreciation of the company and who works there and what they do and what great things they make. Frontiers is the best 3D Sonic game since Black Knight, and I'm sure I'm speaking for a lot of people when I say that. That's why it breaks my heart to hear that. I acknowledge that what happened wasn't your fault, but it still kind of saddens me that somebody who legitimately had a genuine passion for their job suddenly got fired and had to clarify that the event wouldn't affect their opinions, ye they're still a fan of what Sega does. I honestly feel bad for you.

It's weird to see people loving to work at video game studios like Sega, NIntendo, and Sony, And here I was thinking "I'm making my own video game studio and company instead", while I was in 4th/5th grade in 2007 (yeah, I was the type of person whom would have made my own film studio, video game, music record, archival/preservation, and theme park divisions and companies back in 2007, not knowing the Financial collapse of 2008 was around the corner at that time in the mid to late 2000s)....So seeing people laid off like this sucks, but again, I do think there is a huge culture shift going on, as well as I think a huge recession in the entertainment industries so, the growth of these companies are starting to pop, and stockholders/stakeholders should reconsider what they wish to invest versus what would be great in the long term....It sucks man, but it's why I would prefer to find a backup job if nothing else...But I hope this inspires you to make your own video game company in the near future, or find another one similar to the ones you worked at Sega and such. As a person whom has known Sega back in the 2000s, yeah, Sega itself was already a fledgeling company by the time that I got into video games in 1999/2000 at the age of 3/4 years old. So it's safe to say that Nintendo and Sony were safe bets, and now, Nintendo is the one that's stable the most, while Microsoft, Sony, and Sega are struggling....It sucks, but things happen and decisions made at the top board of directors don't make the best decisions despite the stacks against them every single day, every single week, every single year...

Sucks, but Sega haven't been the same company since the death of the Dreamcast, which was an unnecessary one. All Sega had to do was one thing - include a DVD ROM drive.....that was literally it. It surprises me not that a company like this could throw people in the trash if that's how they generally go about their business. I grew up loving Sega, but knew it was over 23 years ago. If it's any consolation, the hire and fire culture isn't just limited to Sega, this is generally where everything is going now. These big corporations don't care, they're just here to squeeze every drop of juice out of their employees and discard them like old gum when they believe they've extracted everything they need out of them.

To be fair the company has been producing some really high quality stuff in recent years. Unfortunately I believe chasing the live service model has cost them dearly, like everyone else in the industry.

@@CalamityHatcher The sad thing is, I've never really cared for the live service thing, I'm a firm believer in quality offline games first and much prefer in person multi-player with your friends, rather than squaring off against complete randoms online.
