In Poland it doesn't matter if you are a police officer or in military it doesn't gives you right to buy a gun - you have to pass those all exams and tests and pay a lot for that (time and money) same way for everyone . And police officer who is in charge of area where you live before you gonna get your gun license have to make interview with your neighbors and ask them about you and how they feel about you having a gun

I also feel the UK is on the same trajectory as the US, crime is out of control especially in our cities. You are smart to look around you and be wary of what is happening. The more I've learned about Poland, the more I respect it's people. After all they have been through, they still have rebuilt there cities and are a thriving country in Central Europe. Yes, it is a scary world at the moment. But I do believe that Poland will be safe from any outside attacks. You have a strong military and the protection of NATO. I would not have chose to live here, if I didn't feel safe. A stronger leader will help, but this country is over run with idiots. Take for example, our education system. We have millions of brainwashed kids/young adults. It will take decades for them to realize it. For example, many fight for "correct use of their pronouns". Go to India, Mexico, and other countries and see heart breaking poverty. Your feelings about pronouns means nothing when someone is starving or has no electricity.

It is still close to impossible even if you are highly qualified specialist. Answering your question - wars in the middle East and collapsing government in north Africa (Libia). Elevated visa requirements for USA are not solving illegal immigration problem to EU, but they would make things.... well... even.

Another thing is Google, say you want to set up an email account for an "elder" as I did, you cannot do anything remotely bc they force you to constantly "verify" until they get your ph#, then once the phone # is "captured" you constantly have to confirm it ( by text code) simply to open the damn Inbox, so I cannot assist this person w their correspondence. (Say their medical receipt records or anything they need help with), so many people are being left behind in that way, which is major since they are making us deal w Bots for everything. In this way, also, it is going to be necessary to become familiar w the Open Source world of Linux ( the Fediverse and a whole new satellite world of robotics basically)which is really beyond most people 's ability. It's akin to forcing a retired bricklayer to learn calculus, imo. Since they've made so many Americans so dumb and dumbed down w their poisons ( fluoride, aspartame - just recently banned:etc), -- I am only scratching the surface. In Europe there are stronger roots and natural resistance to such nonsense .

In Germany to become a police officer you need to do an apprenticeship and attend university at the same time while having to maintain a certain BMI with regular physical exercise tests. Not a small commitment.

One interesting thing i see among many Americans moving to europe is that many are adopting embracing the European more minimalist lifestyle instead of the crazy hysterical american consumer life. In most European country's BRAGGING is considered very low-class and tacky and nobody will be impressed by a big house, brand things or expensive car(that are borrowed money to buy so in reality the bank owns it) I promise that if many americans were to move from their house or apartments in the US , they can easily leave 60-70% of all possessions because there are no emotional ties to them, it's just..things

This is absolutely true. Most houses or apartments here are smaller than back home. I once had many things back home, and now I don't miss them at all. In fact, in Poland you can own weapons as a private citizen, not only hunting weapons. But you're right - you have to try hard for it, and the psychological tests are really deep and demanding. Apart from everything, you have to prove that you need a weapon - e.g. for personal protection (because, for example, you are very wealthy, or you have at home, let's say , a very valuable art collection, etc.). Despite this, rejections are common. The weapon is, of course, registered and every copy of a legal weapon is known to the police. Gangsters, of course, use illegal weapons :), but after the turbulent 1990s, when we had a big problem with organized crime, things have been getting better over the last 20 years or so. And now something probably surprising for you - until recently, there was a subject in high schools called Defense Training, in which teenagers learned how to use firearms and how to shoot (that's right!). But also how to dress wounds, resuscitate and behave in crisis situations (e.g. disasters). The subject was abolished, but given what is happening in Ukraine, the government is considering its return. However, even after this subject was abolished, young people, at their own and their parents' request, could learn to shoot as part of physical education lessons (once again: that's right). My daughter has had this training and knows how to use pistols/revolvers as well as some shotguns. The training does not cover automatic weapons. Shooting range fees are divided among participants, and everyone pays individually for ammunition. My wife and I both underwent such training when we were young, I also underwent such training as part of military classes while studying at the university (so I can operate, for example, a Kalashnikov :)), and then during my internship in the army (at that time, military service was still obligatory). So maybe this is a better way: we learn to shoot, because bad things, like wars, obviously happen, but we don't keep weapons in our homes and we don't wander around the streets with them. And we don't have to teach children how to behave during mass shootings. The problems you talk about further: homelessness and drug addiction are unfortunately also present in my country, although on a much smaller scale than in the USA. And we have to keep an eye on it. As for medical care - yes, probably throughout Europe, or at least the EU, it is free and financed by citizens' taxes. If you work and pay taxes, you are automatically insured. Similarly with the pension system - money is set aside for your retirement from taxes. Of course, the quality of medical care varies: in Spain, for example, it is excellent, in Poland - so-so. I mean, at a basic level it's fine: if you catch a cold, have a minor injury or even break something - you will get help quite quickly and for free. Problems begin when you have more complicated tests to perform or you want to get to a hospital - and with a referral! - waiting times may be long. But once the system sucks you in, the treatment usually goes smoothly and at a fairly high medical level. And it's free. My wife has had two major surgeries in the last few years: gallbladder removal and gynecological surgery - we didn't have to pay anything for it. But there were problems with "entering" the system :) There are also private medical companies where you can buy service packages for yourself or your family that strengthen your health security. Nowadays, various companies, including "state-owned" ones, offer it as an employment bonus. My wife has such a package from her company, which pays for it and for a small additional fee, somewhere around $50 - $80 a month, me and our two daughters are also covered by this private insurance. Thank you for your detailed comment. I'm not against gun ownership per se, but people need to be well trained. They also need to not have any mental issues. I like the system they have in Poland. As far as the training for students. I think that it could be a good idea. It's better to be prepared than not prepared. The price for health insurance in America will run you hundreds of dollars per month. That's for a basic plan. If you are employed, then it usually falls on your employer to pay it. But not always. Many people are self-employed, so they have to pay out of pocket. The uncertainty if you become really sick and can not pay. It is the worst part of the US system.

I have, although superficial, basic knowledge of things. Besides, it was a long time ago - I flew out of Washington on the day of the elections, which resulted in Bill Clinton becoming president :) But apart from Washington, I also had the opportunity to visit Los Angeles and the American "province" - Columbus Ohio and Bloomington Indiana. If I were to go to America again, with my own money of course :), it would be for the landscapes and nature. We don't have many things like this in Europe.

One big problem is that it's written into the constitution. The right to bear arms. Any challenge has been upheld by the highest court in the land. They have been able to ban some assault style weapons. But those were made legal again. It's a difficult issue, if we do allow guns, people should be made to take a psychological test. They should also undergo training before being able to own one. It is sad, I agree with you.

3) Healthcare - Private companies run for profit and the idea of healthcare should be patient health, not profit. The USA is a country where people pay one of the highest sums of money for healthcare yet the life expectancy is lower than in many OECD countries. Sadly Poland spends one of the lowest percentages of the budget on public healthcare in the EU and some of the current politicians want to lower it even more. 5)Inflation - It was super high in Poland (and Eastern Europe in general) after the attack on Ukraine. Nowadays, it is lower but still higher than it should 6)Housing - It's getting worse in Poland as well, and current and previous politicians subsidize mortgages, which makes the prices even worse and only profits banks and real estate companies. People don't like it but developers are good at lobbying. 10)Police brutality - training lasts about 6 and a half months in Poland but I think the problem of American police brutality is also connected to the availability of guns and that being a policeman in the USA is more dangerous than in Poland. 11)Political divide - I think it used to be much better but nowadays politicians do everything to split the population as it works great for gaining votes (you don't have to show voters how good you are just convince people that the other candidate is much worse) but I never heard of a broken family because of that so maybe it is still better than in the USA.

@@TravelAddictGuy I suppose if you live in PL you must at least like it somewhat. Poland is not popular. All the cool countries are in Western Europe and G7. Only recently did Polish get added to operating manuals of products one would purchase. You had Swedish, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, English, French, German, sometimes even Finnish and even Russian but Polish... not so much. Thanks for the cool video :)

Customer service was terrible in the 80s, and even in the 2000s they'd reprimand you for not putting the magazines back on the shelves but it's much better these days. :)

But one has to be careful with pain prescriptions cause they will not warn you about side effects, addictions, they love giving you prescriptions etc... It is if they were getting money by giving those dangerous prescriptions.

@son_ireland It's great that you can see a doctor when you need to. In the USA doctors were receiving money from drug companies to prescripe opiods. That's what caused these mass addictions. So they could be doing the same in Spain. I don't know for sure.

Unfortunately The UK and Europe are going the same way, we are just a bit behind The States. Also, you will bump into Brits living in Europe bemoaning Brexit as it means they can't have the luxury of having a foot in both camps, they have a distaste for their old country, but can't quite commit to their new one, I met a lot of people in Spain like this.

I have no desire to ever return the USA. I have everything that I need here un Europe and it's a better life in all most every metric. I also enjoy learning languages and I'm trying my best with Polish currently. Those Brits voted for Brexit, now they have to suffer the consequences unfortunately. As you said parts of Europe are changing, I do feel it's the western part that is changing the fastest.

I don't think you are giving us the full story. The United States has a total area of 3,809,525 square miles, and you couldn't find a safe spot other than Europe. It does not add up. Did you visit all 50 U.S. states?

Of course, there are places out i the middle of nowhere that are safe. But how will you earn a living. Most of the jobs are in big cities. Plus, I like living around people and my family.

BTW, there are plenty of jobs in the U.S. as opposed to practically none available as an ex pat in Europe. And if you able to secure a job, it is usually very low pay {probably less than living in a small city in the U.S.}. Also, you are not addressing the issues of securing a VISA and high crime due to immigration issues.

I agree but nearly all these adversities are the consequences of deindustrialisation of the US. Instead of investing and working out robotization from the early 80's American business decided to enrich Asia, predominantly China. If US business didn't make these mistakes there would be enough high tech branches providing R&D, maintance and services for Industrial growth. There would a marginal rate of drug addicts and less obese and depressed society in the first place. The tensions within the country would be also much lesser. I've noticed this degradation since late 90's when I saw how US car's manufacturing business was falling apart providing a high defect rate and poor quaity, a consequence of a disregard to a high tech quality oriented automatization. You have to return to the primary paradigm that America stood for. Like the Mcdonald's, a synonym for American success story based on quality, great organization and a professional planning. Period.

Several of my family members have worked for the auto industry back in Michigan. We've seen what sending our manufacturing plants over seas did to places like Detroit and Flint, Michigan. You're right, this had a lot to do with the decline of America.

American goverment supported outsourcing of investments and the farm out of technology to Asia, because it was cheaper and provided an instant profit instead of reorganizing and promoting domestic long term growth for business. It would require a proper legislation to build a financial advantage for domestic companies where they would be able to capitalize on production and technological dev long term. It is still doable. Better late than never. Another thing is USD devaluation 30-50%. It would do wonders to the worldwide exports competitivness.

This is part of the problem. I understand there should always be more than one party, but there should be compromise and a desire to work together. There is too much division and hate in America over party favorites. The disinformation and misinformation continually work to widen the division. Sadly, there isn't much hope for America at the moment. Not sure what would change that, probably and outside protagonist for the country to come together against for the same cause.

In the USA there is a different concept of the state than in European countries. The US Constitution was created in the 18th century and was very progressive at the time. In European countries, the concept of the state was changing towards a welfare state.
