I came to USA 5 years ago just before covid hit, to see how different life is in usa compared to Europe (where I am from). In USA I had very successful career in management, the weather in CA is always nice, but I was miserable the whole time. Everything seems like 100x more stressful in USA, not sure why it is such a crazy anxiety-inducing place. Work paid well but literally I felt like life was being sucked out of me, it was so draining. I ended up working and driving most of the week and when I had free time I was so tired I just lay in bed and watch TV. The streets were always empty, just cars and ugly buildings everywhere. People basically living in their little bubbles of egoistic individualism. Found some friends (from work, how else...) but we had no time to meet outside of workplace. Basically loneliness and depression hit. I never ever had depression before in my life. So I am leaving USA after 5 years and I am so happy I can go back and restart my fuller life in Europe.

But im over it i just want to get bang for my buck when it comes to resources/money for food living etc and at least other places "attempt" to take care of their environment. Nice beaches, forests, and all. Plus U.S. got more spoiled brats than other places on the planet.

What good is making money if you have to give it back? Unless you're making a lot of money it's hard to save because you are not keeping it all for yourself. You are constantly paying bills and everything is a money grab.

Great points, I couldn't agree more! My plan is to work seasonal jobs in US national parks for half the year, and live overseas for the other 6 months of the year. Two more months and I'm back in SE Asia for the fall/winter. I'm enjoying my time here, but can't wait to head out for more extended travel. New sub to your channel here. My exroomie did the right thing. He's a Vietnamese immigrant. He finished his college degree in America, a degree in America is a very valuable asset, got his foreign travel teaching certification, and moved to Vietnam to teach. He tells me Vietnam so better than America, especially if you're lower middle class and can't afford a lot of things. In Vietnam everything is affordable for most American expatriates. Life isn't a struggle but something to enjoy in that country.

That's actually not bad for the time we're in now. My rent just went up by $50 so it'll be right under $1400 for a one bed one bath. I live by myself, it's a 711 Sq Ft unit but it does have a storage closet out on the patio and I get fiber internet as opposed to cable. I also get a $55 credit each month as long as I use more than 500 kWh of electricity. It's not a bad place but the rising costs do suck. The base rent used to be roughly under $1200 about 3 years ago.
