Absolutely spot on! Most concerns stopping Africans in diaspora were addressed particularly the issue of our children.

Travelling abroad is important for everyone especially the youth in Ghana. When they get enough skills and capital, they can come back and contribute. Don’t discourage people from leaving Ghana to find better opportunities. Remittances people send back home even contributes towards the development of the nation.

Do you know the chances of people actually returning home once they travel? Look the Western world needs us as much as we need them; and as such they do not make it easy for us to leave. Second, the social, political and economic gap between the countries makes it almost impossible for one to return home after they travel. This negatively impacts the poor countries and further a system of brain drain. Ghana has lost most of its scientists(my dad being one of them) doctors, researchers, educators, nurses to the western world. This is real and can not be compared to the remittance you speak of. So you ask, what is the solution; EDUCATION, it is knowledge that allows the foreigner to come to Ghana with little and create a lot. Not money. Religion as he mentioned. When a people are thought that nothing works unless God says so, it is very difficult for such a people to advance. What makes the west great is its work ethics, something that is hone through a good education system.

@@nellsawere I still stand by my point that it is imperative for the youth to travel. Had I not travel outside gh I wouldn’t have learnt the opportunities available back home to me. I wouldn’t have learnt many skills from the education I got from the developed world. Your dad would have grown old and died with his knowledge had he remained in Africa. The onus is on you to educate yourself about your roots and history and always plan ahead as you leave to the developed country to seek greener pastures. Those who read history and learn about their roots always return. You can remain in Ghana and still not educate yourself about your roots and history. It’s the reason we have many graduates in the country who are not patriotic, lack the self drive, good work ethics, entrepreneurial culture and skills.

@@joylm9108 Thanks for your reply. However lets assume you are right, how many people can realistically travel abroad? And does this mean we are doomed if we are not able to send the entire youth population abroad? The solution to our problem should not leave us with these can of options. It is not a feasible developmental aspirations. If you speak of the education you have been exposed to as a result of leaving Ghana, then wouldn't it be more realistic to focus on preparing our citizens with this education system rather than sending the country overseas to learn? In my opinion, it is an inferiority complex to believe that the Ghanaian's ability to become better and more resourceful person is determinant on her having to travel abroad. Yes historically, individuals were sent abroad to study with the hope of them coming back to develop their respective nations in Africa. In reality we all know what happened to that experiment. it did not work. It would not work. The social economic gaps between the 'have nations' and 'have nots' is too large to take such a risk. I believe a better idea is creating the conditions in Ghana(Africa) that have allowed the West to thrive and putting a Ghanaian twist to it. Again historically, what you suggest has only caused massive brain drain to developing nations and has done very little to develop it.

Gold Coast has put Ghana on the map in London, and helped raise the expectations of the Ghanaian. I have often visited with my family and friends. I think that is what is unique about Gold Coast, it brings all genres of people together through their food, music and first class hospitality and customer service. One of your highlights were the popularity shown during the World Cup. It was literally a road block! 😂😂 May God continue to bless you William and family on your new ventures in Ghana. Thank you for being an inspiration.🙏🏾👍🏾
