You really shouldn’t caulk the base of the toilet, you are going to want to know if a leak is there. Otherwise American standards are great even in commercial settings
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher2 жыл бұрын
Left a space in back. And it is code. I like it for sanitary reasons 👍
@taytaytheoriginal48502 жыл бұрын
@@BathroomRemodelingTeacher that’s good, not sure which state you live in but here in Indiana there is no code on caulking toilets, plus the dirt and dust will just collect on it…..everyone’s a critic haha
@nsbstrong36242 жыл бұрын
It's code down here that you have to grout it in that way in a big fat ass sits on it that acts like an actual base and doesn't Rock back and forth if the floor is unleveled due to whatever reason.
@chechnya2 жыл бұрын
Lol you don't know what you're talking about. The manufacturer recommends caulking the toilet minus a small space in the back for a leak to present itself
@BoughtNotBuilt2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'd say 99% of the toilets I install get caulked, small gap in the back per manufacturer. 6 years plumbing

Love those toilets!!! Easy install!!

Me too it's a easy install

I like the parts they come with, not the toilets themselves.

Every clown talking about caulk. Not only does it help seat the toilet it looks cleaner and you leave a opening in back so if it does leak. What you should be talking about is how he screwed down the flange and glued it🤣🤣 when he can buy a flange insert that glues into the drain and is more secure.

Hack job. The flange must be on top of the finish floor.

And I don't caulk the base if there's a leak i want to know sooner than later unless code says to
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher2 жыл бұрын
Yep code, but left space in back 👍

I've been buying the American standard reliant and cadets for years. I have never seen these nuts. What is this sorcery?
@joshpeterson38842 жыл бұрын
Why are your bolts so loose? There should be washers and nuts that go on the flange and closet bolts. Also no shims needed?
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher2 жыл бұрын
Flat floor, no shims needed. And yea, not all bolts come with locking nuts, but those are nicer to use 👍

@@BathroomRemodelingTeacher I wish all toilets were set on flat floors 😂

I never caulk the bottom of toilets. Only traps water if theres a leak. Better it go on the tile so you know it needs to be fixed. Cheers!

Agreed

I hear that one more time I’m going to puke. You always caulk a toilet so it doesn’t rock.Also it’s more sanitary
@DonJosesito2 жыл бұрын
You installed the plastic nuts that secure the toilet to the flange upside down. The beauty caps won't grab well.
@OCC_Plumbing_and_Restorations Жыл бұрын
That's the same way I installed mine and they work great.
@CarlosSanchez-bg4wf2 жыл бұрын
I usually don't caulk around toilet in case it leaks in future either or sometimes I leave back open. It depends, excellent job sir keep it moving bruh
@Worldwidegiantgrowers2 жыл бұрын
If your toilet leaks you don’t know how to install a toilet. You should not have to rely on it not being caulked

I can’t believe people still use nasty wax rings with much better options out there
@DonJosesito2 жыл бұрын
If you ever own a plumbing company that installs hundreds of toilets per job you will understand why wax rings are still king. Cheap and will always work.

Steve I thought you were using the foam gaskets for the base to the closet flange?
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher2 жыл бұрын
I am for the most part. They don’t sell the sani seal ones at depot or Lowe’s so I went with a traditional one one this one 👍 amzn.to/3r49r5e

@@BathroomRemodelingTeacher Hey Steve are these ok to use with toilet closet Flanges that are set on top of finished floor? Or are they to hard to compress? Also have you had any issues with these ? I read some people said the outer coating comes off and the foam underneath absorbs water?
@markallen84482 жыл бұрын
those plastic nuts/cap holders are garbage. I use 5/16" brass closet bolts not the cheap 1/4" plated steel crap that comes with the toilet "kits".

I like American standards but I hate the hardware. I normally replace all plastic or steel hardware with brass hardware. I've had to replace too many American standard tank bolts are rusted and impossible to take out without a dremel and a whole lot of patience. When it comes to toilets nothing beats 5/16 brass bolts for longevity.

Why? Do you have to include the stupid squeaky tape fast forward sound??? It's sooooooooooooo annoying!!!! Silent would be better
