I draw a lot from imagination but I find when I go too long without practicing from observation, my drawings become boring. Observational drawing is like a well of inspiration that is always just a blink away. I love this video.

Your content is such a breath of fresh air! My mom is an art teacher, and she teached me many things you told us here. I never realized how privileged I was! Also, about digital art, I might agree with you. I mostly paint digitally, but I definetly draw better with pen and paper. It's just so much more intuitive to do observational drawing, especially because I can just draw all the little plants and trinkets I come across. I do love digital art though, very much so, it has freed me from the fear of ruining expensive paper, and that by itself was a huge relief to me. Anyway! Thank you for your content (=
@illustratornamedkasper3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your words!! Yeah, drawing digitally def. has its cons. I also do digital drawing. I know exactly what you mean with fear of ruining an expensive sketchbook. When I'm in that mood, I usually buy like the cheapest sketchbook I can come across - this helps me muting that fear and just have fun and draw whatever I want to.

@@illustratornamedkasper Yes, I do the same! Normally I just draw on normal notebooks and if I do something good, I'll redraw it later. Sometimes it's better to leave them be, though hahaha

I have devised a fun game thanks to you, Kasper! 😉👍🏻 I have made a little list of things (simple objects I have around the house) that I’m curious to draw. On one side I draw my flawed and funny symbolic “Before” Sketch. Then I set the actual object in front of me and I sketch it over and over. Voila! I have the comparison and the progress right there in my sketchbook! It’s fun (makes me laugh at myself) and it’s gratifying (I see actual progress!) Even starting simple is super! ❤️
