There is a spot of land about 15 mins from where i live, out in the county, there is a lone oak tree by the edge of a corn field, i cant tell you how many times I've photographed it. People ask me, why, it's just a tree. Yep, that's it. Just. A. Tree. Paul, as always, you tell a story in a story. Happy new year! Good work!

However dull a scene might seem to some people, there will always be people like you, me and your fellow photographers that find theirselves drawn to it. Lone trees are just one of those things that just draw us in, and compell us to take that shot. Great shots ...

I’ve been driving past a scene for the past couple of years. Finally got the chance to shoot it this week. Glad that I could stop and capture it. It is also a lone tree on a hill

Thanks Paul for this great video, meant a lot to me because my motivation to create a photo is drifting. I just purchase a copy of Stolen Moment to motivate me to go out & shoot again. Regards.

Thank you Paul for another wonderful video. Like many others I have a tree that I love to photograph but the thing that struck me about this episode was the colour green of the landscape and the lovely music. For us living with bushfires in Gippsland, it was a beautiful distraction.

I know what you mean about a lone tree. Strange how you can be mesmerized by something so perfect yet strangely out of place. Whenever I go back to Calgary there is a field just outside of the city limits that has a great view of the Rockies. And yet it has a lone tree on what appears to be a ridge that seems to fall off into nowhere. But the closer you get the scene completely changes to this tree at the end of a curving gravel road. Then that changes into something else, truly amazing from a photographic viewpoint. Unfortunately, I have not been able to create an image that does the view justice. But every year I try. Once again a beautiful video Mr.Smith I look forward to the next one.

Lovely video mate fave shot is at 7:44 very tidy frame the tragedy over in Australia is making for some incredible surreal sunrises and sunsets it’s been like this a couple of months on the east coast and today we’ve had a slight taste of what the Aussies are going through three bush fires kicked off ones still burning that wind has been evil makes you realise just how bad things are over the ditch. Great video again mate.

Lovely as always. That blood red sun is probably due to bushfire smoke drifting across the Tasman from us in oz!! Need some of your kiwi rain and it’d be nice to swap for your PM too!! Haha.

Nice work Paul The shot at 9:56 reminds me of growing up on the farm in the very early sixties as a youngster. Looks exactly like our hay shed complete with tree.

Again another beautiful video. But I have a challenging question: seeing all your videos in the recent past, I struggle understanding how much time you actually use to set up for your video, get the place right, fly the drone etc etc. I am asking since I would have a hard time doing the same when going out to take photos. I always immerse myself fully into focusing on taking the photos - I would have a hard time doing both, taking the video of myself setting up and taking the photos, walking to a location (and going back again to get the tripod with the GoPro which filmed me etc). So my suggestion is the following: can you make a video just focusing on what you plan and do to actually make the video besides taking photos? Your videos look so professional, so a lot of post processing must be involved, too. Would love to hear and learn from you here!

Hi Paul, what kind of camerastrap are you using with your Leica in this Video? I really like the minimalistic look. Also I just want to say „thank you“ for creating this content, I love your approach on slowing things down. It really changed how I feel about photography in general! Greetings from Austria!

Such a lovely spot! I am also a sucker for lonely trees, and the hills around this one blend in so gently. Especially your first shot with the silhouette has captured it perfectly. As always, thank you for making this episode. Whenever I get a notification from KZbin, learning you have uploaded a new episode, I know I am in for a treat :).
