Fantastic video! I just bought an EE-2 at the weekend from my local camera store! I’m proper excited to put a roll of film through it!

Great. We need more videos like this slagging of the M8 then the prices might come down and I'll be able to afford one.

Hi Paul. Beautiful frames. Loved the muted river/dam picture. Can you give me your opinion about using leica lenses on olumpus cameras. Are the colours tight or compressed or muted or open loose/bright. Love the olympus om1 mk2 but not able to know how the colours are between olympus and lumix with leica lenses. Can you explain with your taste pallete itself. I like your colour pallete very much. Thanks 😊

82 yrs old Columbia SC still shooting with Leica m8, I have a 50 mm Summicron 1-5. Question do you shoot auto or manual. What is your setting? This is my peace-of-mine camera. Happy New Year. ciao.

I miss shooting on Velvia 50 as my go to slide film (after shooting on Kodachrome 25 / 64 in the 70s / 80s) in the 1990s, but the cost of Velvia as like most film stocks has become prohibitively expensive, and that's before factoring in processing. Your metering has to be spot on and any over or underexposed frames would be so costly nowadays.

I know things are changing in NZ, but there are still spots where you can still encounter places that take you back to times gone by, and I'd still love to live there regardless.

Nice video Paul, very relaxing and some good photos in there. I just found your channel but recognized the country straight away, having lived in NZ in the 90s. Looking forward to following your journey.

Definitely wouldn't be concerned about blown out highlights. When I draw, I purposely blowout highlights in certain areas. Blown out highlights if used artistically can be heavenly, or majestic. I grew up reading fashion magazines as well and most of the photos in them from the 80s-90s were mostly shot +1ev or +2ev from film. Plenty of blown highlights. It's good if you can have a gradual progression into shading or mid-tones.

Could you please advise your dev process details with Pan F 50 + Rodinal as it would help me to take my next step on a kind of rabbit-hole mission in testing a series of films to find a way to get nice and fine grain with my 6x6 folding cameras. I would like to switch to Rodinal due to shelf life amd economical reasons since Ilfosol deteriorates too quickly and I waste too much. Thank you.

I dumped my Leica M2, M4, M5, M7 and Summicrons for Olympus OM-2n, OM-4T and Zuiko glass. Life is way too short for me to be pfaffing around with over-priced rangefinders. I just love the Olympus OM SLR experience. It has put a smile back on my face with photography!

Nice video. I have Olympus Trip and I love it. It has zone focusing and I get extremely sharp images. I almost ordered one of these from Etsy but then I realized the fixed focus. So there will be out of focus images like some of your photos. I think I must invest a bit more to a EES model, because I really want to have control of the focus distance. Though they are not cheap these days…

Great video Paul, makes me homesick. I also shoot an Olympus OM, but the OM4Ti, great cameras all of them. Gonna buy some Delta 400 after watching this and your video on pushing it to 1600. I had never looked at it before because it looked too clean, but looks awesome in your images, thanks for showing me the light.

I don't know what I love more, if your pictures, or the look, feel and vibe of the first 3 minutes of the video... incredible. That made me curious about something though, how do you handle the temperature changes for your camera and lenses, say, when you leave home, or the car (I assume being way warmer than outdoors, like in the video), how do you transition your camera from warm to cold without it getting some condensation, etc? Thank you so much Paul, just subscribed, discovered your channel today and I'm loving it.

I think for me, it's the idea that the photo was shot on film that sells it. The added context that it was shot on film changes how I appreciate the view the photo. If that makes sense. I think it's cool to get the highest quality image out of film and try to rival digital. That kind of thing is neat to me. Also, with slide film, I love the end product. Getting mounted slides is my favorite thing in all of photography. Holding them up to a window or projecting them is just something that digital or photos from color negative just can't match.

Hi Paul! It just so happens my name is Paul too. You looked like you were enjoying your camera and the art of photography. I've been looking at the Mamiya 645 e, and you gave me some insight. Keep shooting and you reflecting what the camera is actually used for, a tool for creating and not just possessing all the gear you can acquire! Liked your site, and I'll subscribe! Paul Conway
